So just over a year ago, several demo versions of songs from Madonna's latest album 'Rebel Heart' leaked. Now that we've had the album for a while and these have been around for a while too, what are your thoughts on them? Are there any demos that you actually prefer to the altered final versions? Which ones are you GLAD she changed? Should some of the ones that didn't eventually appear on the album have been included in your opinion?

I'm aware that some may not have ever heard the demos but they are around on the internet and worth checking out because some of the songs are quite different to the final versions... (or hit me up and I can send them to you tongue.gif)

Wash All Over Me, Rebel Heart, Addicted (The One That Got Away), Messiah, Joan Of Arc and (Make The) Devil Pray are all much better than their album counterparts. Rebel Heart in particular with that infectious outro was PERFECT for her, a seamless matching of Avicii's sound with her pop sensibilities.

I'm surprised at the 'Wash All Over Me' demo being listed. I mean, I love the demo too but I always thought the album version was one of your absolute favourites from this era.

Wash all over me and Joan of Arc were better in demo form. Rebel Heart to some extent too.

I also loved the line 'and I still feel shitty' in Heartbreak City

I've been listening back to this (and it makes quite a nice, slightly disjointed album in itself tbh!). A few random comments:

Borrowed Time - the final 30 seconds of the demo version are a (Avicii-lite) JOY. I like the song on the album, but wish she'd still included this outro too.

The end of HeartBreakCity is changed for the better on the final album! "And I still feel shitty" cheapens the song so i'm glad she flushed that line (oops just seen Vibe's post above laugh.gif)

Joan Of Arc I actually prefer the final album version. Not sure the lyrics totally work with the "you are my soldier" thing and it's much more self-affirming in final form.

Living for Love changed for the BETTER for me ohmy.gif I like the demo version but i've become so acquainted with the "normal" version now that there is no alternative.

Wash All Over Me, I have accepted is a fantastic song on the main album and the demo version is good too. I'm not actually sure which one I prefer.. probably the album one. The demo version is too stop-start to properly get into.

Rebel Heart is FANTASTIC in both forms. It's a totally different song and so hard to compare. I enjoy them both depending on my mood. The album version makes me REFLECT a bit more while the demo makes me JAM. All powered through the wonderful, nostalgic lyrics of course.

I much prefer the original 'Wash All Over Me' and especially 'Rebel Heart', I wish so much the latter had been on the album instead.

I don't dislike the album versions per se, but 'Rebel Heart' is plodding guitar pop and 'Wash All Over Me' has been transformed into a morbid church hymn.

The 'Illuminati' demo is such a JAM music.gif
