I am going to be regularily posting britpop classics - for those of you that know me, this is the genre of music I most relate to and feel I probably know the most about.

So onto this week's - the rather marvellous Slight Return from The Bluetones

Slight Return was the second single from the album 'Expecting To Fly' and reached number 2 in the UK, kept off number 1 by Babylon Zoo's Spaceman.

This would be their highest charting single, 2 more top 10 singles would follow, but they never quite reached these heights again.

I liked the Bluetones, but have to admit they didnt quite register with me as much as some other bands of the period. Must revisit....!

I saw them a couple times in their early days at NME showcase gigs. They were derided by many people at the time but came up with some cracking tunes. Slight Return is one of them.
