To be fair, they're probably just using a proven marketing strategy to get people to go see the movie. Besides the only really specific thing to GOTG in there is the use of a retro song? I mean it's got a similar visual flair but then every DC movie has a similar visual (lack of) flair.

This really does look spectacular (I adore how colourful it is!) - easily my most hyped film for the remainder of 2017 now. Cate Blanchett looks fantastic (yess at them actually using the headgear, it looks bonkers but works so well at the same time w00t.gif) and it's going to be great see Thor, Loki and Hulk all interacting a lot in the film. October can't come fast enough drama.gif

They're doing everything right promo-wise for this. It looks incredible.

This is 100% going to be the highest grossing Thor movie.

I saw Ragnarok tonight. No spoilers of course but I really enjoyed it.

It wasn’t quite as tight and well written as Homecoming, but I much preferred it to Dr Strange or Guardians Vol 2. There was quite a lot of parallels with GotG2 but this just felt bigger, with a proper threat and a greater sense of danger. The score was unique, the characters (old and new) were perfect and the overall aesthetic was great, the only thing that let it down was some of the dialogue and clunky pacing in parts.

My updated ranking of the films:

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Captain America: Civil War
The Avengers
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Guardians of the Galaxy
Ant-Man
Thor: Ragnarok
The Avengers: Age of Ultron
Thor: The Dark World
Dr Strange
Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2
Iron Man 3
Thor
Iron Man
Captain America: The First Avenger
Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2

Comparisons to GOTG2 are good for me as I absolutely loved the film. I still can't get over how AMAZING Cate Blanchett looks in this too, I think she might end up being my favourite MCU villain yet after this! cheer.gif

Will you be writing a longer review for Attitude once the embargo lifts, Joe? biggrin.gif

YES! FINALLY. Someone who sees the light on the Thor movies. The first one is my least fave Marvel movie (or at least was, I need to give Dr Strange another go). I really enjoyed the 2nd, despite it's flaws!

Just got back from seeing this. Absolutely loved it! I love Taika's previous movies and this is very much Taika doing a Superhero movie. laugh.gif Right off the bat we are introduced to Taika's warming humour! The aesthetics was gorgeous, the bright and bold colours were stunning, the cinematography was gorgeous too. I genuinely don't think there was one bad character. Corg is so cute. Cate was outstanding and genuinely menacing/believable as the big and main threat. Tessa Thompson has been getting HUGE praise for her work and it's not hard to see why!

However, my fave was Mark Ruffalo. He really epitomises the Bruce Banner/Hulk character perfectly and I'm so happy we got to see him as Hulk a lot more than usual in this wub.gif

It's so bizarre having such a huge change in tone from the first two Thor movies though. I don't like that (mainly coz I like consistency in franchises) but it was still very much a Thor film at heart and that's enough for me.

Outstanding. 3rd fave film of the year behind GOTG2 and La La Land for me. I'd give all 3 10's heart.gif

SO glad you loved it, I knew you would. I can't believe 17 films in and they're getting MCU's highest critical score on Rotten Tomatoes! Unstoppable.

Kinda triggered you think GotG2 is better though...

Fabulous. It took me a while to accept Thor going full-on Guardians humour, but it's just so well done. Great star-studded cast, great character-driven gags, taut plotting.

Film of the year 9/10.

Saw this a few nights ago - decent film, nothing bad and the humour was alright but It's got nothing on Civil War for me.

I was expecting to enjoy this more than I did. It was a good entertaining film but the plot was a bit threadbare. It felt Like it was two different films merged into one: the Hela film and the Planet Hulk film. It might have worked a bit better if there was more interction with Hela and Thor and she purposely put him on the Grandmaster planet/was working with the Grnadmaster but the fact that the two plots had no correlation whatsoever really damaged the film for me..

It looked visually stunning though and I did enjoy Hela as a villain, a big improvement on the majority of Marvel villains so far if a little camp! I liked the ending too, it didn’t feel too magical solution like these types of films normally do (even if I guess it probably was in practice kink.gif). Thor was able to stand out more than he has done previously, so glad Jane wasn’t there because she would have just felt inserted in for the sake of it. Glad we got to see lots more of the actual Hulk rather than just using him in fighting scenes too.

Loki was a bit all over the place, I felt his inclusion was a bit forced. It didn’t really develop the whole good/bad guy from the Dark World. He was just good when the plot needed him to be and bad when the plot needed him to be. He just appeared when the plot needed hik too. I don’t think they really nailed his character at all in the film.

Also the Doctor Strange bit was quite sudden and forced, like the Falcon scene in Ant Man. I liked the ideas of using characters from the universe but I would like them to be more natural rather than doing it for the sake of it. Doctor Strange just randomly poped up and then was never discussed/seen again!

It was a fun watch though, maybe one too many jokes for me.

I absolutely adored this, I think it might be a contender for my favourite Marvel movie yet. Choosing Taika Waititi as the director was the PERFECT choice because him injecting tonnes of hilarious humour into it ensured that it never dragged once and I pretty much sat there with a massive smile on my face the entire time. It was so nice to see Chris Hemsworth get good comedic material to work with, he was the shining star of the recent Ghostbusters remake too and I wish he'd take more comedic roles because he's so good at it.

Cate Blanchett is another underdeveloped villain to add to the long list for the MCU but at least she was having fun with the role and looked fierce as f***. She's probably in my top three Marvel villains just for how cheesy she was wub.gif I can't not give a shout out to Korg too for being the cutest and funniest character in the whole thing - I was shocked to see he wasn't voiced by Sharlto Copley because he nailed that kind of humour.

There were certainly weaker moments (for example, Odin's death scene couldn't be less exciting if it tried) but I was thoroughly entertained and had a great time watching it. I think my favourite moment was Matt Damon playing Loki in the play, so unexpected!! laugh.gif

Saw this today and I loved it so much!! The original Thor has always been my fave of the MCU and this is right up there. It’s got a lot of the comedic elements I loved about Deadpool with a very Thor feel and some Guardians style imagery. Absolutely brilliant. 10/10 am off to pre-order the bluray on Amazon

Probably the best Marvel film of the year, really enjoyed this and probably the best Thor movie of the 3. Cate Blanchett was brilliant as the main villiain, and Korg practically stealing the whole show, and it was nice to see Lou Ferigno in it as the original Hulk. I really feel a Hulk movie would really work well now after the last 2 were a bit stale in places.

Finally saw this and oh my Christ it was fantastic. Marvel top 5 for me.

Blanchett was outstanding. She's just perfect. I don't think I've ever said I didn't like her in anything she's done. What a woman.

Korg was a total scene-stealer. I laughed so much. The humour in general was spot-on though.

This is one that I'll watch multiple times. They got it so right.

“There was one time when we were children, he transformed himself into a snake, and he knows that I love snakes. So, I went to pick up the snake to admire it and he transformed back into himself and he was like, "Yeah, it's me!". And he stabbed me. We were eight at the time.”

Only just seen this movie, I actually prefer it to any of the Guardians movies which are similar in style! It’s also wayyyy better than the previous Thor’s but those were both average at best anyway and by far the worst to come from the MCU to date
