Since the dawn of time (2014), BuzzJack posters have fought over which Christmas classic of the two below really is the best.

The Careynators led the charge, stating that 'All I Want For Christmas' is the biggest and the best festive classic, with its great melodies and addictive hooks. They will stop at nothing until Mariah is crowned Queen Of Christmas.

The Poguesters opposed them, citing 'Fairytale Of New York's amazingly well-written lyrics and the story it tells, and the contrast in the two voices on the track and the raw emotion of the song. They will not be defeated so easily, and indeed in round 1 they won the battle, 69-65.

BUT... in round 2, The Careynators fought back, and defeated the competition in a 59-55 victory.

The only way to really settle this once and for all is for the two armies to fight again, in a winner takes all battle... until the poll is probably re-done next year. Who will win the decider, the tiebreak round if you like, Mariah Carey or The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl?

Vote for The Pogues your favourite.

They are both two very different Christmas classics that work in their own way to different audiences happy.gif

I've grown increasingly less fond of FONY (having been listening to my Christmas playlist for a month) this year and AIWFCIY has been hitting the spot more than ever, so clearly the well hydrated cow wins.

"All I Want For Christmas" is probably THE best christmas song ever while that Pogues song just terrible. Easy win for Mariah and I'm not even a MC fan.

Totally sick of hearing both. But at least I liked the Pogues at one time whereas I've always hated Mariah's vocals. The song itself isn't too bad, like a cheap rip off of Phil Spector.
