I've been inspired by my current signature so wanted to see if she had many other fans round here
PENÉLOPE CRUZ Her Oscar nominations have been for: Best Leading Actress (2007) - Volver (as Raimunda) Best Supporting Actress (2009) - Vicky Cristina Barcelona (as Maria Elena) Best Supporting Actress (2010) - Nine (as Carla) How would you rank these performances? Do you think she deserved to win in any of these years? Do you think she deserved nominations for any other performances? Here are some other awards nominations she has received: GOLDEN GLOBES Volver (Best Leading Actress - Drama) Vicky Cristina Barcelona (Best Supporting Actress) Nine (Best Supporting Actress) BAFTAS Volver (Best Leading Actress) Vicky Cristina Barcelona (Best Supporting Actress) SAG AWARDS Volver (Best Leading Actress) Vicky Cristina Barcelona (Best Supporting Actress) Nine (Best Supporting Actress) OSCAR NOMINATED PERFORMANCES BY... I think she's great in everything I'd rank them like this:
1 Volver 2 Vicky Cristina Barcelona 3 Nine Volver was her best performance in terms of seeming like a real person and the whole film works so well because of her in the lead role so I'd have to pick that as her best (she was way better than Helen Mirren for 'The Queen' that year imo but Meryl Streep would've been my winner for 'The Devil Wears Prada', I think)! Vicky Cristina Barcelona is a great performance too and I'm glad she got her Oscar for it, I love the film anyway but it gets sooo much more exciting once she explodes on the screen and she makes a huge impact in the final third of the movie. I liked her in Nine too but it's not as impressive as her other performances even though her musical number is easily my favourite and she does the emotional scenes well too, she was my favourite from the movie so I'm glad she got the recognition out of everyone from the all-star cast. She's playing Ingrid Bergman's Oscar-winning role in the remake of Murder on the Orient Express this year so I'd love for her to be back in awards contention this year, it's been too long |

Her performance in Vicky Cristina Barcelona is one of my all time favs. I dunno how she got nominated for Nine though. (I do agree her musical number was the best by far)

Think I've only ever seen her in Sahara didn't even know she had an Oscar. Also seen her in very little! Only seen Penelope in G-Force (a voice role so don't remember her at all in that!), Zoolander 2 (which she was horrendous in) and Grimsby (which she was enjoyable in!) so struggling to form much of an opinion on Penelope tbh! |
