I'm gonna say 1917 will debut with £3m at #1 and Star Wars will drop to 2 with £2.8/9m, this weekend.

Basically gonna predict this:

01. 1917 [£3.1m]

Might be an idea for a game we could start in this forum - every week we pick 3 films that are out that week (two big films & a smaller film), and try to predict what position it will reach in the Box Office Chart the next week. In addition, there could be an additional element where we try to guess how much money the #1 film makes to the nearest £100k.

Weathering With You had such a strong opening weekend for an anime film (it only played on 57 screens and gained a screen average better than every film bar the top 2 in the top 15) that it is expanding to 250 screens by the end of the month. Would love it to become an unexpected slow-burning hit, although I have a feeling that most of the people who would go to see it have now seen it. Great stuff though.

Amazing for Parasite! It's getting a much wider release too this week after it's Oscar win.

Dolittle demolishing Birds Of Prey, even with previews not added, I assume it would have been an easy victory. 'Underwater' not going top 15 even is pretty embarassing!

Absolutely shocked that Dolittle so convincingly got the #1 slot this week; it's heavily underperformed in the US (will probably lose over $100 million), it's reviews have been universally terrible, and its a franchise that doesn't seem to have much of a following (even the Eddie Murphy remake is largely forgotten). The advertisement and promotion for Dolittle is what has saved it. As well as the fact that there's no competition (until this week) from other kids/family movies. I imagine it'll fall to number 2 with about £3m-£3.5m next week, with Sonic debuting at #1 with a similar number to what Dolittle did this week (anywhere from £4m - £5m), considering it's the first weekend of half term this weekend.

I'm very hapy with the results of Tenet, not just because of the movie itself but mostly to see people still want to go to the cinemas. This is really what we needed at the moment.
Shame The Hope Gap only made it to #7, such a good movie, but I imagine it's not playing in a lot of cinemas and I think most of the general demographic for a movie like that are maybe more afraid to go out now.

Those numbers have plummeted from prior weeks, it looks like the Cineworld closures have started to have an effect on the box office. Delighted to see the Akira re-release at #3, although in a normal week it wouldn't even be top 10 with those numbers.
