#5 Let's Eat Grandma "I'm All Ears"
this duo are already showing a ton of ambition on their second album I'm All Ears, their quirky child-like vocals are matched now with majestic synthpop production
faves: Hot Pink, Falling Into Me, It's Not Just Me, Snakes & Ladders

#4 Janelle Monae "Dirty Computer"
a proud and optimistic r&b/pop record from Janelle, balancing bold politically-themed tracks and infectious sex jams!
faves: Make Me Feel, Crazy Classic Life, Pynk, Screwed

#3 Guerilla Toss "Twisted Crystal"
GT's previous album (that spawned Trifoski entry Skull Pop) was pretty wacky, Twisted Crystal is noticably more restrained in that sense but amps up the psychedelic edge *.* the tracks are very odd and sci-fi ish but at times groovy and fun
faves: Meteorological, Jesus Rabbit, Come Up With Me, Green Apple

#2 Beach House "7"
first coming to my attention from great tracks like Myth and Wild showing up in BJSC years ago, this latest album is the most immersive and hypnotic they've sounded to date- the gorgeous hazy rock atmospheres on Dark Spring and Pay No Mind, and the sticky synth refrains on Lemon Glow and Black Car. dream pop at its finest!
faves: Dark Spring, Lemon Glow, Drunk In L.A., Pay No Mind, Black Car

#1 MGMT "Little Dark Age"

quite the career trajectory for MGMT so far, taking the music scene by storm with huge crossover hits in 2008, before diving into a rather non-mainstream psych-rock record on Congratulations (which was very good btw), then going pretty much off the rails with their 2013 album. Little Dark Age is their best to date for me, synthpop with a weird haunted aesthetic. the first half boasts the glorious Me And Michael, the gothic vibes of the title track and When You Die and the brilliantly sarcastic She Works Out Too Much detailing a couple comically at odds with each other. The second half goes into more of a spacey psychedelic trance on tracks like James, and closer Hand It Over sounds quite like a lost Tame Impala track, and reads like a blissful acceptance of death. This record gets everything right, you must hear it
faves: Me And Michael, Little Dark Age, When You Die, She Works Out Too Much, Hand It Over

phew.

Listening to the song you liked from the MGMT album now, it's not what I was expecting actually but I'm really liking it! Throwing me back a few years with those sounds wub.gif

Let's Eat Grandma are great, really enjoyed their new album. MGMT were an unexpected joy too, really took me back to their early material and made me feel quite nostalgic.

Also just checked out the Guerilla Toss track “Meteorological”- nice!

Seven *.* Hiya x

I am here to praise Bloom wub.gif I'm not sure if I knew that you loved this album (maybe I forgot x) but I'm so glad that you do! Troye fans unite x

Believe it or not the only other album I've heard here is Palo Santo, which I found to be okay. cool2.gif

Looking forward to seeing what else is still to come!
