Can't say I'm that into tennis but what Emma has done is really brilliant, coming in from being a qualifier (and not even one of the highest seeded qualifiers) to winning the whole thing is spectacular and an underdog lover's dream!

Britain's US Open champion Emma Raducanu has been given a wildcard into the Indian Wells main draw.

It will be the 18-year-old's first tournament since her stunning victory in New York earlier this month.

Although she is now ranked 22 in the world, the entry list for Indian Wells was published during the US Open, when she was outside the top 100.

The tournament, one of the biggest outside of the Grand Slams, takes place in California from 4-17 October.

Andy Murray won his first match 6-3 6-2 in the San Diego Open after a late replacement saw him face lucky loser Denis Kudla.

The 34-year-old former world number one was set to face Japan's Kei Nishikori, who withdrew with a back injury.

Cameron Norrie also had a straight sets win in the first round over Germany's Dominik Koepfer 6-2 7-5.

British number one Dan Evans is in action on Wednesday and he faces South African lucky loser Kevin Anderson.

British number one Dan Evans beat Kevin Anderson to set up a second-round meeting with compatriot Cameron Norrie at the San Diego Open.

Evans battled through a 77-minute opening set to beat the former world number five 7-6 (13-11) 7-5.

World number 28 Norrie beat 22nd-ranked Evans in the first round of the Australian Open earlier this year.

Fellow Briton Harriet Dart was beaten in the second round of the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic.

Dart, who beat Beatriz Haddid Maia after being added to the main draw as a lucky loser, lost 6-3 6-4 to Russian 12th seed Veronika Kudermetova.

QUOTE
Emma Raducanu says it has been "pretty cool" to receive the congratulations of other players at Indian Wells, but now is the time to get back to business.

The US Open champion, 18, has a bye to the second round of the BNP Paribas Open in California as the 17th seed.

She will face either Colombia's Maria Camila Osorio Serrano or Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus in her first match since winning in New York.

"It's really nice," the Briton said of the congratulations of her peers.

"All the players are very friendly. I'm still very new on the tour - so it's pretty cool.

"But I haven't really spent too much time hanging around. I've just been training and getting about my business, and then leaving."

I imagine preparing for the US Open, and then winning it, will have taken up most of her energy so it's not completely unexpected that she isn't on her best form just afterwards.

Cameron Norrie is into the semi-finals at Indian Wells. He'll get a lot of ranking points for this and is likely to move into the top 20.
