Biography

Melanie Jayne Chisholm (born 12 January 1974), better known as Melanie C or Mel C, is an English singer, songwriter, actress and television personality. She is one of the five members of the Spice Girls, in which she was nicknamed Sporty Spice, and sold over 100 million records worldwide as a group. Melanie C began her solo career in late 1998 by singing with Canadian rock singer Bryan Adams on the song "When You're Gone". Her solo debut album Northern Star was released in 1999 and reached number four on the UK Albums Chart and was certified triple Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). It produced four top fives and a top twenty single, two of which reached the number-one spot in the UK. Chisholm's second album, Reason, was released in March 2003 and sold more than 500,000 copies. The album reached number five in the UK and produced one top ten, one top twenty and a double A sided top thirty single.

In 2004, Chisholm parted ways with Virgin and founded her own record company, Red Girl Records. Beautiful Intentions, her third album, was released in April 2005. It reached number twenty-four in the UK and number fifteen in Germany. The album produced three singles, one of which charted at number ten in the UK, and one peak at number one in different European charts. Her fourth studio album, This Time, was released in April 2007 and charted at fifty-seven on the UK Albums Chart. Of the five singles released from the album, one charted at number-one in some parts of Europe, and one become a top-thirty in the UK and a top ten in some European charts. In December, Melanie C reunited with the Spice Girls for a world tour and to release a greatest hits album. She released her fifth solo album, The Sea, on 2 September 2011, and her first EP The Night on 13 May 2012. Her sixth studio album Stages was released on 10 September 2012.

Since 1999, Chisholm has sold more than 12 million records.

Biography

Tula Paulina "Tulisa" Contostavlos is an English singer-songwriter, actress, and television personality. She was a member of the Camden-based hip hop group N-Dubz, with her cousin Dappy and their friend Fazer. N-Dubz was formed in 2000 and released three studio albums before announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2011.

In 2011 and 2012, Tulisa was a judge on The X Factor. She mentored the "Groups" category in her first year, which included eventual winner Little Mix, who are to date the only group to win the competition. On 16 March 2012, during a Twitter dispute with Dappy, Tulisa announced that N-Dubz had split up, and were not taking a break as stated in 2011. Tulisa released her debut solo album, The Female Boss, on 3 December 2012. It received unfavourable reviews from contemporary music critics and poor first-week sales. However, its lead single "Young" managed to top the UK Singles Chart.

I can't get over the lyrics in that Pixie Lott song. Thanks to one of the misheard lyrics videos I've seen on YouTube I now hear it "We'll be dancing and singing and climbing up on disableds".

curious to see which songs make it to the top 40, especially Where is the Love 2016... think it's gonna miss as it started well on itunes but then dropped a a lot and is doing nothing on Spotify... think Sia will miss too think she cannot do 15K in 3 days with itunes sales being so low...

but there's hope Matoma has made it and Millionaire too, together with Ariana and Zara, so 4 newies maybe?

Biography

Coldplay are a British rock band formed in 1996 by lead vocalist and pianist Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland at University College London (UCL). After they formed under the name Pectoralz, Guy Berryman joined the group as a bassist and they changed their name to Starfish. Will Champion joined as a drummer and backing vocalist, completing the performing line-up. Creative Director Phil Harvey is often referred to as the official fifth member by the band. The band renamed themselves "Coldplay" in 1998, before recording and releasing three EPs: Safety in 1998, Brothers & Sisters as a single in 1999, and The Blue Room in the same year. The Blue Room was their first release on a major label, after signing to Parlophone.

They achieved worldwide fame with the release of the single "Yellow" in 2000. This was followed by their debut album Parachutes released the same year, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. The band's second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), was released to critical acclaim and won multiple awards, including NME's Album of the Year. Their next release, X&Y, the best-selling album worldwide in 2005, was met with mostly positive reviews upon its release, though some critics felt that it was inferior to its predecessor. The band's fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), was produced by Brian Eno and released again to largely positive reviews, earning several Grammy Award nominations and wins at the 51st Grammy Awards. On 24 October 2011, they released their fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto, which received mixed to positive reviews, topped the charts in over 34 countries, and was the UK's best-selling rock album of 2011. On 16 May 2014, they released their sixth album, titled Ghost Stories, which also received mixed to positive reviews and topped the iTunes Store albums charts in over 100 countries. On 4 December 2015, the band released their seventh album, A Head Full of Dreams, which reached the top two in most major markets, but received generally mixed reviews.

The band has won 62 awards from 209 nominations throughout their career, including nine Brit Awards—winning Best British Group four times—five MTV Video Music Awards and seven Grammy Awards from 31 nominations. Coldplay have sold more than 80 million records worldwide, making them one of the world's best-selling music artists. In December 2009, Rolling Stone readers voted the group the fourth-best artist of the 2000s. Coldplay have been an active supporter of various social and political causes, such as Oxfam's Make Trade Fair campaign and Amnesty International. The group have also performed at various charity projects such as Band Aid 20, Live 8, Sound Relief, Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief, The Secret Policeman's Ball, Sport Relief and the UK's Teenage Cancer Trust.

Biography

Mike Perry, whose real name is Mikael Persson, only produces music alongside his regular job, which is servicing Volvo diesel car engines in Skövde, Sweden. Although he had played "some gigs" before the song, he began receiving more offers after the song became a viral hit on Spotify, later playing the Summerburst Festival and a festival in Gärdet. Perry credited the song's "simple" and "no frills" nature as well as its "timely" sound as the reason for its success, saying that he prefers not to complicate the sound of songs he creates. The song was later placed in the Chill Hits playlist on Spotify, which helped it achieve chart success.

The vocalist and co-writer of the song, 23-year-old Sara Hjellström, who records under the alias Shy Martin, said she "did not think it would be a hit". Hjellström co-wrote the song with her bandmate Nirob Islam from her current group, Sodra Station. They also co-wrote the song "Summer Love" for the boy band The Fooo Conspiracy.

Biography

Cheat Codes
Los Angeles-based electronic trio Cheat Codes debuted in 2015 with their single "Visions," a floor-filling, radio-ready bite of house in a vein similar to Avicii and Swedish House Mafia. The three members of the group -- Matthew Russell, Trevor Dahl, and Kevin Ford -- each have deep roots in L.A., working on individual projects before joining forces for Cheat Codes (Dahl once performed as singer/songwriter Pluginstereo). Their different backgrounds helped inform Cheat Codes' stylistically varied sound, which can range from warm pop to outright big house bangers. After the release of "Visions," they quickly followed with the tropical-tinged "Don't Say No" (featuring Dresses), "Senses" (featuring Lostboycrow), and "Adventure" (featuring Evan Wartner). As they gained social media exposure, they joined the Chainsmokers on tour. Successive singles continued to drop into 2016, when they unveiled "Sex" (featuring Kris Kross Amsterdam), which borrowed the sentiment and chorus from the Salt-N- Pepa classic "Let's Talk About Sex." - iTunes

Dante Klein
With his initial release on Spinnin Records in 2015 “Ertesuppe”, the young DJ/Producer phenom, Dante Klein burst onto the scene. The track was quickly featured in Pete Tong’s radio show along with those of Avicii, Watermat & The Magician. Collabs followed with Sam Feldt, along with remixes for Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Kim Churchill. Now with 2016 in full swing, Dante Klein is about to ‘turn on’ the world with his latest release featuring the LA group Cheat Codes.

Dante always had an interest in everything musical, dating back to the pots and pans jam sessions he had together with his sister during childhood. Those ‘instruments’ soon gave way to a real piano and the first compositions were born. At the early age of 10 he got hold of DJ equipment and and his life’s passion was discovered. Dante soon followed suit with producer software, and then went on to finetune his skills at the renowned Herman Brood Music Academy in the Netherlands, from which he has since graduated.

Now, still only 20 years old, Dante Klein is setting things alight in quick succession. Shortly after his highlight performance at Tomorrowland 2015, he was asked to remix “Higher Place”, the groovy # 1 Billboard dance track by Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike & Ne-Yo. This was quickly followed by a brooding collaboration with Sam Feldt & Belgian singer Milow, “Feels Like Home”, which became the focus track of Feldt’s EP.

All this has led to the biggest release to date - “Let Me Hold You (Turn Me On)” has been secretly gaining global traction on Spotify as an ID track, getting its official “reveal” on June 29th. Already over 2.000.000 streams before its debut, this rework of Kevin Lyttle’s hit features the succesful LA based Cheat Codes who are themselves currently enjoying a world-wide hit with “Sex”.

Accompanied by an equally unique extended video, ‘Turn Me On’ is already a dance floor mainstay, on its way to becoming THE European summer anthem of 2016.

Biography

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins MBE (/əˈdɛl/; born 5 May 1988) is an English singer and songwriter. Graduating from the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in 2006, Adele was given a recording contract by XL Recordings after a friend posted her demo on Myspace the same year. In 2007, she received the Brit Awards "Critics' Choice" award and won the BBC Sound of 2008 poll. Her debut album, 19, was released in 2008 to commercial and critical success. It is certified seven times platinum in the UK, and double platinum in the US. An appearance she made on Saturday Night Live in late 2008 boosted her career in the US. At the 51st Annual Grammy Awards in 2009, Adele received the awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

Adele released her second studio album, 21, in early 2011. The album was well received critically and surpassed the success of her debut, earning the singer numerous awards in 2012, including a record-tying six Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year; two Brit Awards, including British Album of the Year, and three American Music Awards. The album has been certified 16 times platinum in the UK, and is the fourth best-selling album in the UK of all time. In the US it has held the top position longer than any album since 1985, and is certified Diamond. The album has sold 31 million copies worldwide.

The success of 21 earned Adele numerous mentions in the Guinness Book of World Records. She is the first woman in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 to have three simultaneous top 10 singles as a lead artist, and the first female artist to simultaneously have two albums in the top five of the Billboard 200 and two singles in the top five of the Billboard Hot 100. 21 is the longest-running number one album by a female solo artist in the history of the UK and US Album Charts. In 2012, she released "Skyfall", which she wrote and recorded for the James Bond film of the same name. The song won an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, and a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. After taking a three-year break, Adele released her third studio album, 25, in 2015. It became the year's best-selling album and broke first week sales records in the UK and US. The lead single, "Hello", became the first song in the US to sell over one million digital copies within a week of its release.

In 2011 and 2012, Billboard named Adele Artist of the Year. In 2012, she was listed at number five on VH1's 100 Greatest Women in Music. Time magazine named her one of the most influential people in the world in 2012 and 2016. With sales of more than 100 million records, Adele is one of the best-selling recording artists in the world.

YAY for 'The Ocean'.

I hope Cheat Codes doesn't go much higher, I think based on these two they're actually one of the worst things to happen to music for a long time.

Interesting to see Dev describing the songs in their Top 100 position instead of their Top 40 position (i.e. Up 11 instead of New)
