Eliminated:
16. A Sky Full of Stars (6/24 votes, 25%) So as we reach the halfway point, we finally lose our first single from Ghost Stories leaving X&Y as the only album where the singles remain untouched. A Sky Full of Stars was the third single released from the album and was by far the biggest hit so you could say it's a surprise it leaves first, but given we seem pretty clear that 'Pop Coldplay = Bad', it's really not too surprising. It was top 10 in sixteen countries and remains one of their best selling here, Part of that success can certainly be put down to being produced by Tim Bergling AKA Avicii and clearly having his trademark sound. I defended Princess of China slightly from the sellout claims, but I definitely can't here. This was hit chasing at its finest, sounding completely out of place on the otherwise very subtle album and trading the guitars for danceable synths. Shamelessly obvious a sellout as you can get, yet despite that, I still love it, I like Avicii in general and this is no exception, it's just so joyful and uplifting and still manages to keep some semblance of Coldplay's sound so the other band members aren't totally obsolete. I do wish it was on a different album as it's very jarring as it is and I am glad it's the first out from the album as the other two singles were much more inspiring. 16. A Sky Full of Stars (6/24 votes, 25%) 17. Princess of China (8/33 votes, 25.81%) 18. Orphans (9/28 votes, 32.14%) 19. Hymn for the Weekend (10/26 votes, 38.46%) 20. God Put a Smile Upon Your Face (12/38 votes, 32.43%) 21. Charlie Brown (10/34 votes, 10%) (18/28 votes in tiebreak) 22. Christmas Lights (10/34 votes, 10%) (19/28 votes in tiebreak) 23. Up&Up (11/34, 11%) 24. Shiver (7/31, 9.59%) (Less votes in previous rounds) 25. Lost! (7/31, 9.59%) 26. Everglow (13/31, 17.81%) 27. Life in Technicolor II (9/32, 14.06%) 28. Atlas (12/32, 18.75%) 29. Something Just Like This (w/ The Chainsmokers) (9/29, 14.06%) 30. Miracles (Someone Special) (w/ Big Sean) (11/29, 17.19%) We are halfway through Please continue to vote for your LEAST FAVOURITE from the above, the next round will open Sunday. |

Got slightly less votes than usual last round, hope that's just a blip!
I'm actually gonna give the post-2010 ones a break now as I really love all five left. Going for Talk. It's innovative, I just don't come back to it as often as the others. |

I really like ASFOS. Was such a great sound whilst keeping the Coldplay magic in there. Speaking of which I Voted ‘Magic’ to go next.

Sad to see their actual good post-Viva La Vida singles being voted out whilst their worst stuff remains.

not both Avicii tracks missing the top half! ;( I totally forgot Avicii was involved in 'Hymn For The Weekend' as well tbh. 'A Sky Full Of Stars' is the much better of the two, a little sad to see it not making the top half here but it's still probably the one I'd have gone for next after 'Magic'. |

A Sky Full of Stars is great, really should have lasted a bit longer here than it did. Going for Midnight again.

I wouldn't vote Magic (or anything from Ghost Stories in general) but I really want Midnight to score top 10 at least.

I think I might finally move onto voting for something pre-VLV once 'Magic' is gone. Although not sure.

Went with In My Place which is a personal least favourite of theirs. Judging by the way the votes are going it looks like I’ll have to vote for it for a few more elimination rounds yet. Shame when better songs are being knocked out such as A Sky Full Of Stars this round.
