As I love Taika Watiti comedies that's fine by me! 8 or 9 out of 10.
if you enjoy any of the following you'll enjoy the film: Screeching goats; Guns 'n' roses; Taika Watiti; screeching goats; superhero antics; big names having a laugh; screeching goats; Abba; The Mighty Thor; black & white movies; screeching goats; naked Chris Hemsworth; romps; sad endings but ones with a feelgood aftermath.... and did I mention screeching goats? Much like singing clucking chickens, screeching goats (and giant superpowerful goats at that) are never not funny, and worth the price of admission just for that! |

Why has Thor turned into some sort of comedy act?
Also bringing Jane back in that way was entirely rushed from beginning to end. Few funny moments aside, it was a shit film, Christian Bale was the exception and deserved better for his performance. |

There were a lot of good ideas in this film, but it was badly executed in favour of packing in as many dodgy quips as possible. Ragnarok got the tone largely right, but this skewed way too far into comedy to the point that it largely disregarded the characterisation.
There’s a really solid villain there (and you have Christian Bale!!) so it’s sad that it became a wasted opportunity. |

Why has Thor turned into some sort of comedy act? Thor has ALWAYS been comedy! As eccentric and OTT as this movie? No. But he was always used as the comedic relief and it showed in the first 2 movies (which weren't Taika) as well. This is my 2nd fave of the Thor movies, but it's bottom 10 MCU for me. Apart from 'Ragnarok', Thor just doesn't do much for me on his own and I prefer him when he is involved in big ensemble casts. I actually didn't/don't mind this as much as others though. It's just pure nonsensical fun. Christian Bale was incred, but he really should've been a multi-movie villain. |
