Kelly Rowland - Work / (Freemasons remix)
Rihanna (Ft. Drake) - Work
Iggy Azalea - Work
Missy Elliot - Work It
The Saturdays - Work
Ciara (Ft. Missy Elliott) - Work
Britney Spears - Work Bitch
Amerie - Gotta Work
Fifth Harmony - Work From Home
Beyonce - Work it Out

#10 | Beyonce - Work it Out (AVG. 6.587)
'Work' Count: 20
Highest: Scene (11)
Lowest: Regina (0)

Coming in last is the not so Queen B in this case, with 'Work It Out', which was for the film Austin Powers: Goldmember. Not a bad song, it still had a decent average, but maybe it's work count was too low.

Posted by: JoeyJeppssonWall Apr 4 2016, 02:57 PM

No huge loss there really, Bey has done WAY better.

Posted by: mr_pmt Apr 4 2016, 02:58 PM

I really hope Rihanna is as low as possible here. In fact seeing it beat anything after Beyoncé would be painful to watch.

Posted by: Jonjo Apr 4 2016, 03:13 PM

Such a shit song. Glad it's last.

Ciara and Amerie to be as high as possible pleaseeee <3

Posted by: Davidson Apr 4 2016, 03:39 PM

I love every song on here apart from 'Work Bitch' so it will be hard to see any of them come low.

Decent enough average for a song that gets too much hate for Bey.

Posted by: toxic_air Apr 4 2016, 03:42 PM

Beyoncé still too high. :,)

Posted by: Davidson Apr 4 2016, 03:43 PM

My predictions for the rest of the rate btw:

09. RiRi sad.gif
08. Amerie
07. Iggy
06. Britney
05. Missy
04. The Sats
03. Fifth Harmony
02. Ciara
01. Kelly

Would be thrilled if that top 3 were the case; maybe my predictions include too much wishful thinking kink.gif

Posted by: Jonjo Apr 4 2016, 03:47 PM

Your top 3 songs seem right to me, but I think Fifth Harmony are walking away with it (mainly due to it being "recent"). I saw nothing but great scores for them, whereas I saw a few "average" scores for majority of the others.

Here's my predictionnnnn:

09. Missy
08. Amerie
07. Rihanna
06. Britney
05. The Sats
04. Iggy
03. Ciara
02. Kelly
01. Fifth Harmony

The love for that average Sats song is baffling to me. I'll never understand why it's loved so much...

Posted by: toxic_air Apr 4 2016, 03:50 PM

Kelly deserves to win. Rihanna should place #9 as her whole new sound reminds me of a goat abortion.

But, besides Rihanna and Bey the rest are at least decent. Also, ugh at missing the voting for this. Fantastic idea.

Posted by: burbe Apr 4 2016, 03:54 PM

Work It Out is not one of Beyonce's best, so not surprised to see it in last!

The funny thing is that statement pretty much applies to every other Sats single apart from 'Work' for me laugh.gif

I didn't bote sad.gif What is it with 'Work' songs being so good though?

Missy to win but FH/Rih/Iggy to follow please ~

ALSO thinking back to that Work mix they did at Gales on Saturday night, Rihanna -> Missy -> FH one after the other *.*!

Shame I missed this rate !!!

Some amazing songs

#09 | Rihanna feat. Drake - Work (AVG. 6.73)
'Work' Count: 79
Highest: Cremey, princess_lotti, Tim (11)
Lowest: Chez Wombat, ▲Rob▲, mr_pmt, Sparky2, Scherz (-1)

In second to last place is Rihanna's very recent huge hit 'Work', featuring Drake. It reached a peak of #2 in the UK, and has stayed on top of the US Billboard Hot 100 for 6 weeks so far. This highly divisive song received the second highest number of 10s (from nine of us), but it also received the highest number of -1s (coming from five of you), which obviously brought its average down significantly. Tut. dry.gif Believe it or not this isn't the song with the highest 'Work' count, even though the word is uttered a staggering 79 times. ;o

This is my favourite song of the year and I'm more than a little disappointed to see it crash out already! cry.gif

Posted by: Nick F1 Apr 4 2016, 06:22 PM

Work It Out is good, it's much better than Crazy In Love or some other singles of her.

Work is average. Should be last

Posted by: Joe. Apr 4 2016, 06:24 PM

Work is such a grower, it's a weird song really. But the Lost Kings Remix >>>>>

Posted by: Liаm Apr 4 2016, 06:27 PM

I probably wouldn't have it any higher than about 6th so no huge loss really.

Posted by: *Tim Apr 4 2016, 06:28 PM

Y'all fatties need to delete yourselves. Rhenna's work is yhe anthem of this year and y'all shall deal. To see this fall below some of the others is a damned shame. Some of y'all dont know how to have fun I guess. Everytimes this pops up in the klab, bitches go mental.

Gutted but I had the feeling RiRi would get a bit of a beating here.

Oh well, I'm sure I can get over the bad taste when looking at it's worldwide chart performance anyway, might cushion the blow a tad kink.gif

'Work' just celebrated its 7th consecutive week at the top on the Billboard hot 100. When will these other 'Work' titled flop tracks?

(except Missy, hers spent 10 weeks at #2, poor girl).

#8 | Amerie - Gotta Work (AVG. 7.02)
'Work' Count: 7
Highest: Jonjo (11)
Lowest: Lee, Sparky2, Cameron (3)

Thankfully avoiding the bottom 2, Amerie's Gotta Work was the second single from her third studio album Because I Love It. It peaked at #21 in the UK and spent only 4 weeks in the top 40, criminally low for such a great song. I know I'm always hearing this track on shows like The X Factor in the background, and I'm sure it's been on an advert recently, so thankfully it's not been totally forgotten. It also by far has the lowest "work" count of the rate, with only 7!

Posted by: Joe. Apr 5 2016, 01:41 PM

I wasn't as familiar with this at first, but I've come to the conclusion that it's pretty great. Not enough 'Works' though.

Posted by: Davidson Apr 5 2016, 02:06 PM

I was kind of hoping 'Gotta Work' was going to exceed expectations.

I love it so much and have always thought it was her strongest single over '1 Thing'. I guess it is going to be criminally underrated forever.

Posted by: mr_pmt Apr 5 2016, 03:37 PM

'Gotta Work' was an odd one to watch at the time, it was making really fast progress which pointed to a future top 10 and then it just stopped and only managed #21 on release week. Great song, also love a few from that album like 'Take Control', 'Crush', 'Some Like It' and 'Crazy Wonderful'. wub.gif

#7 | Britney Spears - Work Bitch (AVG. 7.21)

Highest: ▲Rob▲, nickf1, (11)
Lowest: Scene (-1)

Here we have the massive anthem that is Queen Britney Spears' 'Work Bitch'. Not her most commercially successful track, but it's become quite the cult favourite on the club scene, still one of the most played songs I hear on the dancefloor, no matter where in the country (or world) I am.

I'd consider 'Work Bitch' my 3rd favourite Britney song, it's worked its way to become an essential anthem for me over the years. I imagine if she ever tried to recreate it it'd be potentially bad, but as a one off it's good.

I'd say it's one of their better singles. Back in 2009, I was really shocked it only managed a #22 peak. The video was a bit of an 'Umbrella' rip off though.

#6 | Iggy Azalea - Work (AVG. 7.38)
'Work' Count: 40
Highest: Jack, HarryEzra, mdh (11)
Lowest: Qween (2)

Walk a mile in these louboutins x

Iggy Azalea released Work as her debut mainstream single in 2013, and it became a slow burner in the chart, eventually peaking at #17. Despite follow-ups Bounce and Change Your Life peaking higher, they failed to replicate the sales of Work. Of course, Iggy outdid herself when Fancy and Black Widow came along and they became her biggest hits but Work did pretty well considering Iggy was new to the charts at the time. It just misses the top 5 here, I'm pleasantly surprised it's even this high considering a rap track like this quite clearly isn't to everyone's tastes, but I love this and it's in my Iggy top 3 still heart.gif

Posted by: Davidson Apr 6 2016, 02:45 PM

'Work' is still the best thing Iggy has put her name to but I am glad to see it miss the top 5 here, mainly because there are a lot stronger songs in this rate.

The Sats should be out next but I am still thinking it will be Missy due to the song's age (doing fab to beat Iggy & Britney though, yay).

Posted by: BedWood Apr 6 2016, 02:45 PM

Back when I wasn't a fan of I-G-G-Y (her music before Fancy)

It's not as awful as Bounce though, give credit.

Keep in mind, it actually would have been #17 if Michael Jackson's death effect wasn't in full swing and it was the 4th single (5th if you count 'Just Can't Get Enough' being tacked on to the album's tracklist later on).

I guess it was more because their singles (at the time) bettered the previous one's position - 8, 5, 4, 2. So I expected 'Work' to get top 15 at least. laugh.gif

Posted by: Jimmy Jam Apr 6 2016, 07:35 PM

By the time Work was released the album had sold so much, and with them being very new, in hindsight I'm not surprised Work did the way it did, but at the time I was very surprised.

Posted by: HausofKubrick Apr 6 2016, 07:49 PM

'Work' is Iggy's best song for me still, it really put her on the scene. Have such fond memories of it during my year away for my Masters - really helped define that year so i'll always have a soft spot for it. Shocked and quite saddened it's missed the top 5. sad.gif

Posted by: HausofKubrick Apr 6 2016, 08:27 PM

Slightly unrelated and more relevant to her album thread (but ain't no-one gonna read that lol) I am having a bit of a simmer down and listening back to her album now.. I've definitely been too harsh on her recently. I'm getting reminded about how much I loved the album and Work in particular and while I can't believe how quickly she went downhill quality wise the whole backlash and *hate* she's received recently has been totally uncalled for sad.gif

I am to blame too probably, I totally abandoned her music after not liking a few singles in a row when really she ISN'T THAT BAD.

Sorry to go off topic, it's just I love Work so much and i'm reminiscing & rambling a bit sob.gif

Posted by: Jack Apr 6 2016, 08:33 PM

I have loved all of her singles but I think 'Black Widow' was ironically what made her fail and get the backlash. If you re-watch the video, it's almost like a parody of itself. I know it's strange to say as it is one of her most successful singles but there you go.

Kind of like how Alexandra Burke started to fall with 'Start Without You'.

#5 | The Saturdays - Work (AVG. 7.68)
'Work' Count: 42
Highest: Jimmy Jam, Wall, (11)
Lowest: Chez Wombat (2)

Just about making the top 5, are the Buzzjack favs - The Saturdays, with the 5th single 'Work'. 'Work came from their most successful era (their first), which spawned a few hits and their only platinum selling album. In my opinion, it's not quite within The Saturdays' best, but generally the song has aged quite well, and is still well remembered by pop fans today.

#4 | Fifth Harmony feat. Ty Dolla $ign - Work From Home (AVG. 7.69)
'Work' Count: 97
Highest: Scherz, Liam, Jay, Joe (11)
Lowest: Iz, Regina (-1)

Only JUST beating The Sats we have Fifth Harmony with the first single from their forthcoming second album 7/27. Work From Home was released in February and entered the UK chart at #23, eventually climbing and peaking at #2. The track features a guest rap from Ty Dolla $ign, who bags his first UK hit with the song. It seems to be quite a divisive song, getting four 11s and two -1s. I personally love it and am glad it's managed to finish pretty high here biggrin.gif

Ciara vs Kelly vs Missy in the top 3!

Posted by: Joe. Apr 9 2016, 05:22 PM

MISSY 2 WIN.

Posted by: Taylor Jago Apr 10 2016, 04:16 PM

Work From Home is horrid, thank goodness it hasn't made the top 3.

I haven't heard any of the top 3, so can't judge. Still, they can't be worse than Fifth Harmony's "song", surely?

Posted by: Chez Wombat Apr 10 2016, 04:33 PM

Ooh the top three are all decent/listenable yay biggrin.gif Missy to win as iconic etc. though Ciara would also be a good winner, if just as it would be appropriate for the amount of times she says work in the song.

#3 | Missy Elliott - Work It (AVG. 7.83)
'Work' Count: 19
Highest: Chez Wombat, burbe, Sparky2, Riser, darkstar79, Dobbo (11)
Lowest: Qween,Scene (3)

Bronze medal goes to Missy! 'Work It' was released in September 2002, as the first single from her fourth album 'Under Construction'. The song was a massive hit in the US, where it peaked at #2 for an impressive ten weeks straight. Eminem's 'Lose Yourself' was responsible from denying Missy from the top spot for every one of those weeks. Boo!

Fun fact direct from Wikipedia: During the chorus, the lyric "I put my thing down, flip it, and reverse it" is simply played backwards, a part many mistakenly assumed to be gibberish. In the middle of the song, after the lyric "Listen up close while I take you backwards", the lyric "Watch the way Missy like to take it backwards" is also played in reverse. This vocal reversing trend made it to several of her productions during the following years.

If you've never seen the video before - watch it! It deservedly won "Video of the Year" at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.

Hmmmm...

5H MISSING top 3 and my 11 somehow getting ignored makes me think that something's amiss... I'M WATCHING Y'ALL POP MODS.

Ciara top 2 though! cheer.gif

no1curr about Missy ;(

Cody your 11 definitely counted to 5H's score, it just seems Joseph forgot to list you! (UV also gave it an 11!)

Forgotten how much I like that Missy Elliot song, can't remember what I scored it, but I'm sure imma regret not giving it a higher mark :/

Posted by: Dobbo Apr 12 2016, 07:45 PM

Work It is an absolute tune, still play it semi-regularly now.

Prefer Kelly to win now!

Posted by: burbe Apr 12 2016, 08:38 PM

Missy should be #1 sad.gif

Posted by: Davidson Apr 12 2016, 08:48 PM

The perfect top 2.

Both deserve to win this and I would be thrilled with either but I gave Kelly my 11 as it is just perfection.

Posted by: Atonement Apr 12 2016, 08:57 PM

I really don't care for the top 2. Missy should have won!

#2 | Ciara (Ft. Missy Elliott) - Work (AVG. 8.1)
'Work' Count: 98
Highest:mr_pmt, SamJudd (11)
Lowest: Scene (3)

Here's Missy, again! This time featuring on another huge banger from the forever underrated Ciara. She may or may not have booked that stage that Rihanna taunted her about, but she's finished a lot higher than her in the Work Rate. Work is a fast-paced electropop and dance song with elements of house and hip hop.

and your number 1 not surprisingly is....

#1 | Kelly Rowland - Work / (Freemasons remix)(AVG. 8.53)
'Work' Count: 16
Highest: gooddelta, Regina, JoeyJeppssonWall, Davidson, danielG, Cameron, Qween, Simon., AaronTM, 152chris, ♦ ketalina ♦
Lowest: Wall

Sorry Beyonce, Kelly can't hear you from up here. Stealing the rate with an incredible amount of 11s, is the second lead singer of Destiny's Child, Kelly Rowland. Whether you were voting for the original or the usually more popular Feemasons remix, Kelly wins comfortably. 'Work' wasn't without its haters though, but Mr LeeWallace's failed attempts to get The Saturdays to win are thwarted as the amount of 11s and 10s hugely outweighed that -1.

Though 8 years old Kelly Rowland is the reigning work campaign and wins the work rate. G'wan Kelly!

I'm really not surprised at that #1 laugh.gif it deserved to win though cheer.gif

Posted by: mr_pmt Apr 13 2016, 09:39 AM

I was hoping Ciara would get it, but I can't really begrudge that winner.

Posted by: Davidson Apr 13 2016, 10:32 AM

The Freemasons remix of 'Work' is everything a song should be wub.gif

Thrilled.

Posted by: Cameron Apr 13 2016, 10:42 AM

Incredible winner! Very happy with how the results ended up cheer.gif

Posted by: Jimmy Jam Apr 13 2016, 01:48 PM

YAAASSSS Get it Kelly! Really happy with this result, I love the original, but the freemasons remix is everything wub.gif

Posted by: Jonjo Apr 13 2016, 04:00 PM

The remix completely SAVES that song (just like the Freemasons did with 'Beautiful Liar' & 'Green Light'), but it's still ridiculously overrated. sad.gif CiCi should have got it! Wish I'd given her my 11 now, but I really wanted to help Amerie out </3

Posted by: Scene Apr 13 2016, 10:11 PM

Beyonce was robbed.

Posted by: Ja˙ Apr 13 2016, 11:13 PM

The order of these results definitely isn't in line with my personal tastes, oops. Nevertheless there's nothing I dislike here. Female artists certainly know how to WORK. *.*

thanks everyone for voting/commenting.

And thanks for Jayseph for helping with results!
