Hi, Richard marsh! That's certainly a unique thread for the dance forum, nobody has ever discussed clothing for dancing before on here, but its a good point of discussion.
As to the answer to your question, I don't know much about dance clothing (perhaps dance forum moderators danG or lewistgreen would be able to tell you more about it) but to my knowledge, I think sports clothing would be good for dance practice, unless you are practicing your dancing at an establishment where a specific uniform has to be worn.
