It's that time again for a new BJSC YTD thread cool.gif (and by 'that time' I mean at a stupid hour at which I should be sleeping - I'm going to bed now I promise xx). Keep up with all the Aeroche movements and whatnot in here throughout the year ~

"As before all ties are broken by number of votes, then number of 18s, 15s etc. (and ties in the votes and 18s based lists are first broken by total points). The songs EOY ranks songs based on their percentage of the maximum possible score they could achieve in that contest (i.e. if they received 18 from every other country). I will also continue to post in this thread the results of each contest if the 12 point voting system (12/10/8/7/6/5/4/3/2/1) was still in use."

BJSC 101 update

YTD by points

- So yeah this one is pretty obvious as usual, just the order of the final of BJSC 101. République d'Ashton have started the year on top, can they keep it up? Their new 'xenophobic dull bastards' strategy is already paying dividends clearly. A fresh looking top of the leaderboard as Land of DW got their biggest hit to date, while Taahino, Niceland and Lotunia all breached the top 10 for the first time. But then again... Aeroche are already in the top 10 again, starting well on their campaign to remain EOY #1 for a sixth year running.

- Slightly more interesting, the République starts with a strong lead here as well but it's Trifoski in the silver medal slot, and surprisingly Lotunia are actually higher here than on the points YTD (would have thought their entry was a bit more niche than that). Niceland, New Lexico, Aeroche and Jadakissnia are also higher within the top 10 and Bhangra make the top 10 in place of St. Burbia.

- The only YTD that Ashton fail to top, our first leader for 'most beloved nation' in the words of SevenSeize is actually St. Burbia who tickled the fancies of 5 people with their 60s tune. The République are hot on their heels though as they got 4 18s, while it's a big tie for third among countries that got 3 18s (including Cadelicia and Suedeonia who missed the top 10 in the other lists) and Land of DW complete the top 10 as the highest finishing nation to get 2 18s.

- And again this is pretty obvious of course, but flags, flags for everyone! Except the DNQs. (Might as well take this moment to point out that there is a slight difference here from the BJSC 101 results as these rankings continue to adjust for songs that get deductions in the final, so Republic of Adonia come in 29th rather than last). According to these figures 'Sofia' would have finished 8th last year (beaten by 5 2017 winners and two runners-up).

DRAMZ on the 12 point system scoreboard already as Taahino are the winners under this system ohmy.gif hope I'm not triggering you too badly. All I'll say is I bet Phil is glad he didn't have the 12 point system reinstated for this smaller final xx This is now the 5th time the winner is different under this system, which also includes the previous Ashton winner. Awks. (Non-canon tho ofc x) Land of DW hold 2nd here also overtaking Ashton, St. Burbia get a top 5 and Cadelicia and Bhangra sneak into the top 10 ahead of Jadakissnia and Aeroche. Also I'm higher on here than the real contest as usual. x

Mystic Iz was right on the 12 point system! Another victory that I'll take where I can.

Looking far better on this than my disastrous start (and subsequent non-appearance for a lot of it) on last year's YTD, hopefully I'll have more cause to post and celebrate in this topic this year as I do love following it.

BJSC 102 update

YTD by points

- République d'Ashton followed their win with another top 5 finish in their home contest, which is enough for them to hold the top spot for a second month. Hot on their tails though after also coming top 5 in the first 2 contests of the year, Trifoski climb 4-2 and are only twelve points behind. Jadakissnia's 2nd top 10 hit in a row sends them rocketing 10-3, a top 20 follow-up for Lotunia sees them rise 6-4 and Taahino drop 2-5, remaining in the top 5 despite an underperformance this time around.
- Niceland fall a place to 6th, while the rest of the top 10 are all climbers despite none of them coming top 10 in this contest: Aeroche edge up 9-7, Beaverdonia climb 19-8, Bhangra are up 11-9 and Quintessa 13-10. The latter three are yet to get a top 10 this year but sneak in the YTD top 10 courtesy of being a little more consistent than some of BJSC 101's top 10 finishers. The exiting nations are Land of DW (plummeting 2-21 after a DNQ), St. Burbia (down 7-16 after a last place finish) and New Lexico (down 8-27 after a DNQ). St. Burbia of course only qualified at all because of New Lexico getting a deduction this time so maybe those would be the other way around if Lex had voted in the semis.
- Other climbers and new entries in the YTD top 30 and/or the BJSC 102 top 10: South Danaelanda 24-11, Séyetana 29-12, Fljótavík 25-13, Ojnoj brand new at #14 following their victory, Terra Avium 22-15, Pupok 21-18, Alteria entering the points scoring zone at #19 as their first qualifier of the year came 2nd, Cor Lupus 30-20, FSR Rontvia 28-22, Aelandor 34-23, Cowtermont 35-24, Unovia in at #25, Daehun in at #26, Dobago in at #28, Tinnmark in at #29, Kluminican Republic straight in at #30.

- The two countries with the most votes in BJSC 102 were exactly the same as in BJSC 101 - République d'Ashton 1st with 34 votes and Trifoski 2nd with 33. They of course hold their positions in the top 2 here as a result, with Ashton extending their lead to 6 votes. Lotunia climb a place to 3rd, swapping places with Niceland. Aeroche climb 7-5.
- Beaverdonia shoot up 13-6 (who said countries refuse to vote for them xx), Jadakissnia are up a place to 7th, Bhangra also up one to 8th, Fljótavík sneak up 14-9 and Taahino remain stationary at #10. New Lexico and Land of DW exit the top 10 following their DNQs, dropping 5-23 and 6-24 respectively. Ojnoj's 27 votes give them a debut at, appropriately, #27.

- We have a brand new leader here as Ojnoj cleaned up the 18s this contest, 'Heart To Break' becoming only the 8th song to receive 8 top scores in BJSC history (while a further 6 songs have picked up 9 or 10 top scores). That easily outpaces all other countries' combined 18 tallies in 2018 thus far, giving new entry Ojnoj a clear lead of 2 maximums. République d'Ashton hang onto 2nd place. Jadakissnia had the second most 18s in this contest (5 of them), rocketing them up 17-3. Lotunia go up one place to #4 and Quintessa round out the top 5, climbing 12-5.
- St. Burbia didn't get any more 18s this month, and they fall 1-6 as a result. Trifoski climb 11-7, Niceland drop 4-8, Cor Lupus are up 15-9 and Unovia enter in 10th place. Taahino also picked up no 18s this month which sees them drop 3-12, while New Lexico's DNQ triply costs them as they fall 6-15. Bhangra climb into the top 10 in the main YTD but leave it in this one, falling 7-14. Another trio of DNQing nations also leave the top 10: Cadelicia 8-16, Suedeonia 9-19 and Land of DW 10-23.

- Kim Petras outshines Alvaro Soler to claim the top song of the year so far, with The Presets also narrowly outperforming the BJSC 101 winner. (The maximum score in this contest was 55*18=990 so the percentages are interestingly very close to just being the score divided by 10 this month). LPX got one more point than Virtual Self but comes in just behind him on here as there was also one more available vote. Wunderwelt and Amy Shark also show up in the top 10, which thus consists of the two top 5s of the year so far.

A massive runaway top 2 under this system! And a slightly bigger margin of victory for Kim Petras (of course helped by her having so many top scores). Amy Shark makes the top 3 here ahead of LPX, goreshit is top 5 ahead of Wunderwelt and Audio Paradyne took the last slot in the top 10 ahead of fellow instrumental Purple Haze. Not a massive amount of change elsewhere.

BJSC 103 update

YTD by points

- République d'Ashton are the only country to have gone 3 for 3 with top 10 hits this year, and they are rewarded by extending their lead at #1 considerably from just 12 points to a comfortable 82. Trifoski remain their closest challengers, but they are being caught up by Lotunia who climb 4-3 after getting their second top 10 hit of the year and a third top 20 in a row. Quintessa's bronze medal in BJSC 103 sees them rocket 10-4 on the YTD, while Aeroche are still slowly and steadily racking up points and climb 7-5.
- FSR Rontvia fly up 22-6 after missing out on a win this contest on a tiebreak. Séyetana are yet to get a top 10 hit this year but a second top 15 hit in a row sees them crack the YTD top 10, up 12-7, and it's a similar story with Fljótavík who are up 13-8. Consistent qualifying continues to pay off for Bhangra too as they hold at #9 while they also await a first top ten hit of the year. New Lexico, fresh off their first ever win, shoot up 27-10. Jadakissnia's DNQ makes them the biggest top 10 casualty, with them falling 3-14, while we also lose Taahino, Niceland and Beaverdonia after their DNQs (they fall 5-19, 6-21 and 8-27 respectively).
- Other climbers and new entries in the YTD top 30 and/or the BJSC 103 top 10: Azure 17-11, Cor Lupus 20-13, FARC 32-15, Unovia 25-18, Land of DW 21-20, Dobago 28-22, Ramrynia 36-24, Cadelicia 31-25, Kluminican Republic 30-28, Persephonia 38-29 (#comeback), Summericia 34-30, Espen 47-33, Deandria in at #43 following their first qualifier of the year.

- Ashton didn't make it 3 in a row as the most voted for nation but they still stay #1 YTD and extend their lead, now 11 votes ahead of Trifoski who hold at #2. Lotunia also remain at #3 so the top 3 now matches that of the main YTD. Bhangra climb 8-4 and Fljótavík are up 9-5.
- Aeroche fall a place to #6. FSR Rontvia and Séyetana both enter the top 10 as they do on the main YTD, up 20-7 and 13-8 respectively. Quintessa also now enter the top 10 here, up 16-9 (seemingly getting a higher number of points per vote than most). The top 10 is completed by Cor Lupus who climb 15-10. - The leadership of this list changes again, as République d'Ashton climb 2-1 to complete the triple, picking up 4 maximums with Luca Hänni to become the first country to get 10 18s in 2018 so far. Ojnoj didn't add any 18s this time and fall 1-2. Lotunia also didn't get any more 18s this time but climb 4-3 due to overtaking Jadakissnia's points total. Quintessa climb 5-4 after gaining one more 18 and Bhangra double their year to date tally of 18s and climb 14-5 as a result.
- Cor Lupus sneak up 9-6, edging ahead of Jadakissnia who fall 3-7. St. Burbia also drop 6-8 and Trifoski are down 7-9 despite both picking up one 18 this month. FARC complete the top 10, up 17-10. Biggest gainer from 18 point system: Kluminican Republic (7 places higher)
Biggest loser from 18 point system: Rolloland (10 places lower)

Not such a surprise to see the winner is different under this system this time since it was so close in the real thing (the 6th time the winner has been different under the 12 point system). Slightly more surprisingly, Quintessa also beat New Lexico here, and FARC were very close to doing so as well. Extremely close top 4! Jupiterdonia and Dobago making the top 10 here over Lotunia and Cadelicia, I voted for all four of those songs but overall those would have been good swaps. Even Ashton get to be higher under this system this time!! x

That 03-14 drop </3 I was actually expecting worse, so just about holding up in the top 15 isn't too bad at all following a DNQ. Hopefully we'll come back strong in 104!
