BuzzJack Music Forum _ Madonna _ The Immaculate Collection - Survivor Round 2

Welcome to round 2 of 'The Immaculate Collection Survivor' and the first to bow out is 'Rescue Me', which was one of the 2 newly recorded songs for this collection. Written and produced by long-time collaborator Shep Pettibone and sees Madonna delving into Dance-Pop and Gospel House and initially wasn't planned as a single which was why it didn't have a music video and continuous airplay, prompting Sire Records to release it as a single. Where of course it became another big hit by reaching top 10 in the USA and top 5 in the UK. A fabulous track that along with 'Justify My Love' & 'Vogue' sees Madonna beginning a phase that oscillates between cynical self-exploitation and courageous self-expression. Something that would be further explored on her next project. As for the song itself its a fun little number and a great example of early 90's Dance/House music genre and showed her kicking off the 90's in pure style. A shame that this had to go first, but given the other monster gems, something had to go first.

Only 4 other tracks received votes in the first round, 'Lucky Star' had the 2nd highest amount of votes with 4, 'Cherish' received 2, while 'Material Girl' & 'Justify My Love' gained 1 vote each. So remember same rules apply just vote for your least favourite out of the 16 tracks remaining and the one with the most will be voted out by the next round.

'Rescue Me' didn't deserve to go first.

'Lucky Star' is definitely my least favorite and glad to see I'm not alone.
