I'm surprised I'm that high actually, always seems like I just leave one post here every so often and that's it! Do love a bit of dance music though.

I was joking with the entry on this thread as I know I do categorise too much by genres here.

It is hard not to talk about genres because today arguably dance music in the charts is more genre defined than ever (maybe with the exception of 2002, heavily defined by eurotrance), with the dominance of tropical house and future bass (which have very distinctive sounds) and I am looking forward to seeing what popular genre will come next after those wane in popularity.

I do appreciate songs which have absolutely no direct link to 00s dance styles, like Zara Larsson's Ain't My Fault.

I do understand this, and it's always good to have a good discussion about genres or the future trends, but you're just spinning the same records on and on and on. Maybe you don't realise it, but you're always talking about the same things, the same arguments and it's getting to be really uninteresting. sad.gif

She already explained why she hasn't changed it! I think HausofHorrors is the only other member heehee.gif

JSG is quite a fan of dance if plug/BJSC is concerned but I don't see too many of his posts in this forum despite.

There will always be comparisons between styles of songs that I will discuss but I will try and keep the comment to a single one on an appropriate thread.

I really don't like much of the new modern dance styles at the minute of tropical house or future bass anyway so I do hope the future trends start soon. smile.gif

Yeah I know why she hasn't changed it....I hope she never does and her username stays eternally stuck in Halloween. laugh.gif

#41-50:

41 33 212 _____ / Griff
42 66 210 SevenSeize
44 29 209 GRIMLY FIENDISH
43 30 209 Mark.
45 36 207 Alolan Exeggutor
46 31 206 Mushymanrob
47 42 203 Cremey
48 38 195 Colm
49 N 192 TheSnake
50 37 191 Zárate

So we begin the top 50 with a less frequent poster nowadays in Zárate, dropping 13 places. Just ahead is a notable new entry, TheSnake, lover of all things ~funky~ and providing some very good discussions about all the sub genres & their popularity through time. I feel the only way is up for this poster!

Frequent visitors to the UK Chart Forum will remember the fantastic job Colm did with the Dance Chart Number Ones of the 90s thread. He may not be as prolific in this Forum anymore but he's certainly got a good ear for a dance song. Cremey is more commonly found in the Urban & Sports Forums but still posts here time to time, enough to avoid suffering as large a drop as others in this section - Mushymanrob, Mark. & GRIMLY FRIENDISH all names I unfortunately don't recognise!

One of the best usernames across the whole site, Alolan Exeggutor, slips to the mid fourties whereas Buzzjack's very own psychic SevenSeize heads in the other direction with a 24 place climb. Rounding off the section is Griff, a far more infrequent poster these days across the board.

Well done Snake for entering right in the top 50 biggrin.gif

I miss Colm too, although I don't know so much more about him apart from the Dance Number 1s of the 90s smile.gif

I guess I still I'm still to come, although I don't think I can stay in the top 10. I don't post that much here anymore, I should be more active sad.gif

#31-40

31 19 247 JDL
32 41 240 Math ☂
33 21 239 russt68
34 22 234 Ricky
35 35 233 Conderella
36 28 233 Jack
37 53 232 gavindeejay
38 27 227 Eric_Blob
39 44 226 James1987
40 26 226 Joao.

Into the top 40 now and there are no new entries to report in this section. Starting off is a faller from inactive user Joao, who ties for posts with James1987. He makes a small climb into the top 40 to reflect his semi-activity over the past few years, though it seems we are seeing less of him now. Don't leave us sad.gif

A poster who did sadly leave over a year ago is Eric_Blob, once a very well known name in the chart forum but it all eventually got too much for him. He falls to #38 here. Another notable faller is Jack, one of the top posters of Buzzjack and still posts sometimes, mostly in the lounge though. Other fallers come from now-completely inactive posters JDL, russt68 and Ricky.

gavindeejay, as the name may suggest does like a few dance tunes, and he sees a rise of 16 places - the largest in this section. Like James1987 though he doesn't seem to be as active as he once was, so this may be his peak. Conderella is one of only a few non-movers at #35, and Math climbs to #32 after just missing a top 40 place last time this was ran.

#21-30:

21 18 353 Bré
22 24 340 Jake
23 N 330 mdh
24 32 317 Ryan.
25 N 307 Juan Carlos 🕊
26 23 295 Nick F1
27 17 292 Simon.
28 20 269 Atonement
29 25 261 Rob S~
30 34 250 :') / Kath

Kicking off at #30 is Gaga stan Kath who at least in that profile appears to have departed the Buzzjack scene but nevertheless makes a small climb. Heading in the other direction are Rob S~, Atonement, Simon. & Nick F1, all who are more prominent in other areas of the board however do make the odd appearance in the Forum from time to time!

We also see 2 brand new entries in the upper quartile. First from Juan Carlos who is known for initiating many threads of the big upcoming dance singles (what are your hot sources ohmy.gif) & providing very useful updates in the build-up to their releases. Just ahead is one of the most prominent posters of the year in mdh who makes a very strong start here as well! They sandwich Pop & BJSC mod Ryan who sees an 8 place climb from 2 years ago.

Just missing the top 20 are Indie & Alternative mod Jake who edges even closer & Bré who conversely just slips out, it's a shame The Prodigy's album last year wasn't quite as successful as its predecessor right?!

#11-20

11 8 609 Jonjo
12 9 585 *Ben*
13 7 579 TomKay
14 15 551 Cucumberella
15 N 513 Cody Slayberry
16 16 417 Liam
17 11 383 JonieWonie
18 12 379 Mikal
19 14 370 jark
20 13 362 Harve

Not a huge lot going on in this section so firstly let's look at the big new entry here. Cody Slayberry is known, amongst other things, for being a big commercial EDM fan and the forum's biggest Zedd stan. He'll probably be surprised at this position but he is the third-highest new entry at #15 (spun and lewistgreen are both new entries in the top ten), and is very prominent across the whole forum.

Pop mod Liam is a non-mover at #16. Below him are four fallers; from inactive posters JonieWonie and Mikal as well as still-well-known-but-not-as-regular posters Jark and Harve.

Former dance mod Cucumberella climbs one place to #14 this year. He recently stepped down after taking up his role as BJSC moderator and not having enough time for the dance forum these days. We still see him here sometimes jamming to the more ~indie~/less commercial side of dance. For those in BJSC, you'll know him for introducing us to some great dance choons (such as this, this and this - check 'em out).

Above him, TomKay falls down to #13 after being inactive for two years. *Ben* and Jonjo continue to make a few posts here but drop out of the top 10 in favour of new arrivals. Ben is mostly known for being a long-time chart forum moderator, and Jonjo for being a big fan of pop and RnB music (though clearly dance is of some interest to him also!).

~

The top 10 consist of the following posters then:
  • danG
  • Dobbo
  • Ethan
  • Euphorique
  • gooddelta
  • j-jay
  • lewistgreen
  • mr_pmt
  • ScottyEm
  • spun.
