Justin Bieber is #1 for a second week with "Love Yourself", and DJ Snake cracks the top 5 with "Middle". US top 10 hits "Ex's & Oh's" and "Here" belatedly crack the top 50 this week, and lower down we get the first of two covers of the same Tracy Chapman song that are doing the rounds at the moment. The original may even soon be back in the charts. Long running hit "Uptown Funk" is of course back in its 54th week in the top 50, a new outright record and not even necessarily due to streaming (which is actually pushing it down at the moment). Next week's album chart will be a tense battle to see if Adele can end Michael Buble's annual stranglehold on the album chart. |

There was actually though a brief disruption for Bieber on the iTunes chart this past week, as the big mover of the week from Jonas Blue briefly topped the chart there. Streaming actually possibly prevented him from being #2 this week. What's particularly notable about that entry is that it's a cover of the Tracy Chapman song, but it's not the only one, in fact because Australian radio can't seem to make up their mind, there are actually TWO covers of "Fast Car" in the top 40 this week. Both are tropical house, but can be distinguished the vocals on Jonas Blue's being huskier, and Tobtok's being a bit jumpier ( Speaking of Michael Buble, for the first time since it was released, "Christmas" fails to return to #1 for the holiday season. It's still selling like hotcakes, but there's not much you can do when Adele's holding the throne. Surprisingly to me, X Factor's 3rd place getters Jess & Matt surge up the chart to #9, matching the peak of the actual winner Cyrus. You can probably expect Adele & Justin Bieber to dominate the top 2 for a while now, I think the next likely contender for the top 2 is RÜFÜS but they're not releasing for another 4 weeks. Because he decided to release it in December, Chris Brown's new album is his first to miss the top 10 since "Graffiti" which was also released in December. Also that wraps up 2015's charts! I've been doing this for about a year and would like to thank everyone who reads this because it makes this feel worthwhile doing. I think I'll start a new thread for the 2016 charts, but also I'll stick the Year End Singles & Album charts in this thread when they're revealed. That will probably be in a week or so.

 Conrad's Who You Lovin has had a really strange run, constantly up and down. Glad it's remained relatively consistent though seeing as it's not been able to come close to the peak of Start Again. |

(At Long Last A$AP) Unsurprisingly, for the 2nd year in a row we have the hangover hit from December of the previous year that has hung around all year to get the top spot. This also means we've had the same #1 as the US & UK for 2 years in a row as well. In fact, the entire top 7 this year is a slight re-arrangement of the UK's top 7! The decrease in sales during the year is made apparent with earlier hits largely represented well. I don't think you'd expect "FourFiveSeconds" in the top 10 otherwise, though it does mean Kanye West finally has a year end top 10 hit On the album chart, Adele prevents Ed Sheeran from being #1 for a second year in a row. For the first time ever, Michael Buble's "Christmas" improves upon its year end position. It has been top 10 5 years in a row now. |
