It's a solid album. A few of the new tracks weren't grabbing me straight away but maybe they will after a few more listens. Aside from the singles my highlights were Perfect People (agree with what Julian said 100%, perfect place in the album and it's stunning) and Through the Night which I agree should've been the next single.

Ouch, just a 1/5 from The Guardian! Haven't seen one of those scores on there for a while - https://www.theguardian.com/music/2021/aug/...-weekend-review

There are bops yes, but I didn't think the album was amazing and it felt REALLY SHORT for 15 songs. Echoing the same comments made about standout tracks though.

An enjoyable listen! It was never going to be a Mercury Prize contender but why does it need to be? It’s taken this long for her to be able to get an album out which means I’m sure it’s ended up being more of a compromise than usual between what the label wanted and what she wanted. I’m glad there’s a few non-dance songs on there and particularly a couple of slower songs. Lessons was another highlight for me from those not already mentioned! Still addicted to Business though.
I’m just really pleased for her that she’s managed to get an album out, it feels like it’s been a long fought battle where she could have easily given up many times! Hopefully it can lay even more groundwork for a solo career in her own right. |

I quite like the album if I'm Honest.
Through The Night should definitely have been pushed as the next single though. Lessons is also a great track. |

I quite like the album if I'm Honest. On the weekend? This is a SOLID album! Only one or two fillers but the rest are all bops! Agree that 'Lessons' stood out, also 'Distance' and 'Through The Night' but honestly I really enjoyed the album after just one listen. 'My Heart Goes (La Di Da)' is the perfect single choice, the chorus is irresistibly catchy. The only thing I still can't get over is the fact that she named the album after a song she left off it (and what a song to leave off it ) This post has been edited by Mangø: 27th August 2021, 09:25 AM |

It's a nice album! I was expecting it all to sound a bit one-note so it's nice to see there is at least a little bit of variety in there.

For the first time ever (to my knowledge), Capital Dance have playlisted an album and it's this one. They'll be playing tracks across the week from today

Wth are these Guardian people smoking? Sure, it's nothing groundbreaking but it's at least a 3/5 for a casual listener. For me however it's already shaping up to be a 5/5 so many great songs and that new Topic single is amazing!

Yeh that 1/5 was completely unwarranted and harsh. I'd go with a 3/5 or even a 3.5/5 of course it's not meant to be groundbreaking but it certainly is a symbol of hope in the the ever misogynistic music market for someone that has worked so hard to get where she is. It's predominantly a dance album which have always been scoffed at by the critics, remember only male DJs are allowed good reviews in regards to dance music.

Yes the album was never going to be groundbreaking but it's a solid album and becky has worked her socks off to get to this point so fingers crossed the album does well for her.

its the guardian so of course they’re going to be too pretentious to like a commercial dance pop album.
not had a chance to hear the album yet but I am liking the new single with Topic a fair bit, hopefully it can manage to become a hit soon despite the possibility of it just being overshadowed by Rememner. |

It's a pity Space isn't on the album, really don't get why they couldn't have added it, makes no difference to have 15 or 16 songs... I personally think its better than anything on this album

probably cos the label didn’t want the album to contain a Flop Single.

Debuts at 18 here in Ireland, i thought it may chart slightly higher here as Get to Know has had a great chart run here and has a number 14 peak.

I'm kinda disappointed by its 2nd week performance, I'm hoping the ship will steady after this week.

It came on randomly on my Spotify playlist just now and my God, it's fantastic - like three times as good as her best single. She should re-release it putting on a feature and it may go top 10! |

Space is by far her favourite single for me, but I can somewhat understand why they didn't want a single that underperformed to be on the album. Still kinda weird to name the album after it though

I dont get that logic (and I know it's not just her that does that). Surely it will attract more interest than the album tracks plus casual listeners wont know it's a flop?
