How I compile my charts:

With a few exceptions, I don't go out of my way to seek out new songs - I usually wait until I hear them on the radio. I mainly listen to Radio 1 and for this reason, most (though not all) songs in my chart are those which are played on Radio 1. I don't usually add a song to my chart until it's started gaining some airplay.

Songs generally tend to climb gradually as they grow on me, peak and then fall fast, so the chart looks similar to an 80s/90s singles chart. I also usually get bored of a song within a few weeks, so songs don't generally tend to hang around the chart for more than a few weeks - typically around 9 or 10 weeks for a Number 1.


This week's chart commentary:
* It seems Fall Out Boy have a lot to thank Uma Thurman for, as their single named after the iconic actress gives them their biggest ever hit on this chart by climbing to #3 this week.
* Charli XCX racks up her third Top 10 hit in the space of a year, as 'Famous' climbs to #9 this week.
* It's very rare for a song on this chart to fall and then climb and then fall and then climb; but that's exactly what Hozier has done with 'Someone New', and this week it yo-yos to a new peak of #20, to give him his second Top 20 hit.
