Following last year's fantastic album Wildness, Snow Patrol are back releasing a project to celebrate 25 years of the band! 'Time Won't Go Slowly' is releasing tomorrow!
Really like this! Very jazzy
Well they're back quickly! Not what I was expecting from them, not grabbing me on first listen but it could grow.
Did they not release a GH not that long ago?
not a fan of the new track on 1st listen
the band are in a bit of and luck period, first one guy injured his hand, now the guitarist injured his neck, they've cancelled all their live dates...
their Greatest Hits Up to Now was released in 2009 and included tracks from all albums
that was released to celebrate their 15th anniversary and was a huge success
the 2013 GH you mention was US-only not released in the UK or Europe, and was a low key release
They are releasing a series of reworked EPs - the first is out on August 9
Reworked EP1 tracklist:
Time won't go slowly (NEW)
Chocolate (REWORKED)
Crack the Shutters (REWORKED)
Open your Eyes (REWORKED)
Ah cheers! Looking forward to Chocolate particuarly.
Chocolate is also the one Im looking for
Don't like the new song (too jazzy) or the reworked Crack the Shutters, but that was never a favourite of mine...
I'm not a fan of jazz at all, but I love the new one. Gary's vocals sound incredibly beautiful on it
I'm quite enjoying the new version of Crack the Shutters. It's definitely an improvement for me as it's much more subtle.
I don't like the new version of Crack The Shutters.
This was never one of their best releases but the original stand above this version.
All the eps will likely be combined onto a phyisical Cd release.
It would be the best way to make the most of the Eps to have all the songs/reworkings together and likely add something new that will be used as a single to promote the release.
Hopefully it goes that way as I'd like a CD version of the songs even if its just for collection purposes only.
Maybe they will release a new version of a Greatest Hits, separate to these eps to celebrate their 25th year.
That makes more sense but this re worked thing doesnt do it for me.
If they could get some tv promotion for the 25th anniversary it would compliment the anniversary nicely.
EP 2 out now! Featuring a new track 'I Think of Home' along with reworked versions of 'Called Out in the Dark', 'Heal Me' and 'Take Back the City'
I think of Home is impressionable on the first few listens.
not crazy about these reworking, was just listening to the 2nd ep
and they really kill all the energy from Take back the city and Called out in the dark, the originals are a million times better
Album out November 1st, looking forward to hearing Run
tracklist for reworked:
1 Take back the city
2 Open your eyes
3 Time won't go slowly
4 Chocolate
5 Set fire to the third bar
6 Made of something different now
7 You're all I Have
8 I Think of home
9 Empress
10 Run
11 Heal me
12 Called out in the dark
13 Crack the shutters
14 Chasing cars
15 Just Say yes
16 Don't give in
A 1 CD release is the best route for this.
I would of done a 2 CD version. Disc 1 being the reworked versions then a bonus CD of all the originals.
On reflection, that would be probably the best option.
This release of re-worked material wont be something i will be purchasing.
From the versions i have heard to date, it has little appeal.
they're trying to copycat what Take That did with Odyssey
all the new versions I've heard are far worst than the originals and kinda boring and the opposite of exciting
I didn't say they were the first
but it sounds to me they're reworking the songs in the same way TT did
The re-working of songs, or some songs is a trend that has been going on a few years but not on huge levels.
I don't enjoy the concept, or, have yet to have enjoyed the concept by those i have heard so far.
I would rather the original songs to be on the releases.
I think it's just a label strategy to make you buy the GH
in the case of bands that have already released one GH already
Their previous greatest hits done very well for them but not sure how this will go, hopefully it can go top 10.
I'll buy it if ''What If This Is All The Love You Ever Get'' is on it.
it' s not sadly, best song they've done in ages
I hope they get some promo to get interest in this.
Really cant see myself buying this for a while so i can get it cheap, this will be one il buying only to keep my snow patrol album collection complete.

Anyone have an early early prediction as to where the album will make its UK debut?
Number 2 in the mids but it will prob end up number 3,I was expecting something like a number 8 debut for this.
no sales data yet this week so hard to tell how they're doing sales wise
On Tuesday, it was on 18k.
Run is amazing with just that vocoder production
Happy with number 3 and sales of 23,650, it made a number 3 debut here in ireland aswell.
it's actually better than I thought
Dropping to Number 21 in the midweek information released today.
It may steady the ship from here on for a few weeks at the least.
expected very normal drop these days
They would need some promotion soon to keep the sales moving.
They had to cancel a performance in Ireland due to illness.
