Following last year's fantastic album Wildness, Snow Patrol are back releasing a project to celebrate 25 years of the band! 'Time Won't Go Slowly' is releasing tomorrow!

Really like this! Very jazzy smile.gif

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds Jul 2 2019, 10:46 AM

Well they're back quickly! Not what I was expecting from them, not grabbing me on first listen but it could grow.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Jul 2 2019, 11:02 AM

Did they not release a GH not that long ago?

Did they not release a GH not that long ago?

2013 - but it did not include any tracks from their first two albums (Songs for Polarbears & When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up) or obviously their 2018 album Wildness.

It sounds like this project will be new material, demos, reworkings, etc rather than just releasing a greatest hits album.

not a fan of the new track on 1st listen

the band are in a bit of and luck period, first one guy injured his hand, now the guitarist injured his neck, they've cancelled all their live dates...

Posted by: Bjork Jul 2 2019, 12:21 PM

their Greatest Hits Up to Now was released in 2009 and included tracks from all albums
that was released to celebrate their 15th anniversary and was a huge success

the 2013 GH you mention was US-only not released in the UK or Europe, and was a low key release

Ah, didn't realise that! Makes sense if they do release another GH album then.

Crack The Shutters is out now

Reworked EP1 tracklist:

Time won't go slowly (NEW)
Chocolate (REWORKED)
Crack the Shutters (REWORKED)
Open your Eyes (REWORKED)

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jul 29 2019, 06:26 PM

Ah cheers! Looking forward to Chocolate particuarly.

Posted by: Bjork Jul 29 2019, 06:30 PM

Chocolate is also the one Im looking for

Don't like the new song (too jazzy) or the reworked Crack the Shutters, but that was never a favourite of mine...

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jul 29 2019, 06:32 PM

I'm not a fan of jazz at all, but I love the new one. Gary's vocals sound incredibly beautiful on it

Posted by: dandy* Jul 30 2019, 09:19 AM

I'm quite enjoying the new version of Crack the Shutters. It's definitely an improvement for me as it's much more subtle.

Posted by: pippa Aug 5 2019, 06:19 PM

I don't like the new version of Crack The Shutters.
This was never one of their best releases but the original stand above this version.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Aug 6 2019, 12:30 PM

All the eps will likely be combined onto a phyisical Cd release.

Posted by: pippa Aug 6 2019, 01:47 PM

It would be the best way to make the most of the Eps to have all the songs/reworkings together and likely add something new that will be used as a single to promote the release.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Aug 7 2019, 09:29 AM

Hopefully it goes that way as I'd like a CD version of the songs even if its just for collection purposes only.

Posted by: pippa Aug 7 2019, 03:22 PM

Maybe they will release a new version of a Greatest Hits, separate to these eps to celebrate their 25th year.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Aug 9 2019, 11:10 AM

That makes more sense but this re worked thing doesnt do it for me.

Posted by: pippa Aug 13 2019, 07:28 PM

If they could get some tv promotion for the 25th anniversary it would compliment the anniversary nicely.

EP 2 out now! Featuring a new track 'I Think of Home' along with reworked versions of 'Called Out in the Dark', 'Heal Me' and 'Take Back the City'

Posted by: pippa Sep 5 2019, 06:26 PM

I think of Home is impressionable on the first few listens.

Posted by: Bjork Sep 10 2019, 03:43 PM

not crazy about these reworking, was just listening to the 2nd ep
and they really kill all the energy from Take back the city and Called out in the dark, the originals are a million times better

I would have the same feeling.

Posted by: pippa Sep 23 2019, 01:31 PM

A 1 CD release is the best route for this.

Posted by: darrens94 Sep 23 2019, 01:59 PM

I would of done a 2 CD version. Disc 1 being the reworked versions then a bonus CD of all the originals.

Posted by: pippa Sep 23 2019, 03:36 PM

On reflection, that would be probably the best option.
This release of re-worked material wont be something i will be purchasing.
From the versions i have heard to date, it has little appeal.

Posted by: Bjork Sep 23 2019, 04:59 PM

they're trying to copycat what Take That did with Odyssey

all the new versions I've heard are far worst than the originals and kinda boring and the opposite of exciting

Take That were not the first artists to re-record old music laugh.gif (and even at that it was only a few songs on Odyssey actually re-recorded).

Posted by: Bjork Sep 23 2019, 05:30 PM

I didn't say they were the first
but it sounds to me they're reworking the songs in the same way TT did

Posted by: pippa Sep 23 2019, 07:14 PM

The re-working of songs, or some songs is a trend that has been going on a few years but not on huge levels.
I don't enjoy the concept, or, have yet to have enjoyed the concept by those i have heard so far.
I would rather the original songs to be on the releases.

Posted by: Bjork Sep 24 2019, 07:27 AM

I think it's just a label strategy to make you buy the GH
in the case of bands that have already released one GH already

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Sep 25 2019, 12:34 AM

Their previous greatest hits done very well for them but not sure how this will go, hopefully it can go top 10.

Posted by: Nick6 Sep 26 2019, 03:49 PM

I'll buy it if ''What If This Is All The Love You Ever Get'' is on it. laugh.gif happy.gif

Posted by: Bjork Sep 26 2019, 04:04 PM

it' s not sadly, best song they've done in ages

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Oct 9 2019, 01:13 AM

I hope they get some promo to get interest in this.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Oct 26 2019, 07:10 PM

Anyone have an early early prediction as to where the album will make its UK debut?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Nov 11 2019, 11:21 PM

Number 2 in the mids but it will prob end up number 3,I was expecting something like a number 8 debut for this.

Posted by: Bjork Nov 12 2019, 12:44 PM

no sales data yet this week so hard to tell how they're doing sales wise

Posted by: pippa Nov 12 2019, 09:43 PM

On Tuesday, it was on 18k.

Posted by: lewistgreen Nov 12 2019, 10:40 PM

Run is amazing with just that vocoder production

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Nov 17 2019, 12:58 AM

Happy with number 3 and sales of 23,650, it made a number 3 debut here in ireland aswell.

Posted by: Bjork Nov 17 2019, 11:58 AM

it's actually better than I thought

Posted by: pippa Nov 18 2019, 07:36 PM

Dropping to Number 21 in the midweek information released today.
It may steady the ship from here on for a few weeks at the least.

Posted by: Bjork Nov 18 2019, 07:56 PM

expected very normal drop these days

Posted by: pippa Nov 19 2019, 08:30 PM

They would need some promotion soon to keep the sales moving.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Nov 28 2019, 06:07 PM

They had to cancel a performance in Ireland due to illness.
