(just going to say now that at some point in the scoreboards [I mention when it happens in the commentary #nospoilers] a phantom 2 points get added to Arcodesia and Sergeistan get 2 removed, but this is all smoothed over by the final scoreboard so don't worry! Everything else is completely accurate throughout afaia)

Hello there everyone

I hope you have enjoyed visiting The Actual Republic of Bellamia and Jadakissnia this month! We expect that constantly hearing Basil's 'Boom Boom' blaring out in the streets of both nations has been a positive experience. But you know what was even more of a positive experience? THIS FINAL! It was a pleasure to do multiple listen-throughs when the quality was so high. We always thought it would be tough when only 2/20 of our semi votes DNQed but yeah... it really was a bloodbath. We could type out commiserations for days and days but we've tried to limit it to 8 (!), so apologies to these nations:

01 Niceland: Lola Marsh - Echoes
Edged its way into our points at the last minute! We appreciated the Lana Del Rey-esque vocals and found the general vibe to be a lot of fun.

02 Aeroche: MXMS - Gravedigger
We are much appreciating the Aeroche dark renaissance of 2k19! The production in particular was killer on this one.

03 Skall: Korallreven - The Highest State Of Grace
Can always count on Skall to bring the quality! I appreciated how this song progressed, especially when it reached the Friendly Fires-esque finale. We hope we've done you guys proud with our Skall recycle this contest.

04 Hushkanukia: Marion Raven - We Are W.I.T.C.H.
I'm so shook that this qualified, in the best kind of way *.* This still doesn't feel like enough for such a tune of life! But yes, it had to slot into my votes even in such a strong contest. 'We Are W.I.T.C.H.' makes me so happy each time due to the nostalgic factor. <3 stans 4 life.

05 Terra Avium: The Snake Charmer - Nageena (Siren Of The Sands)
This feels quintessentially Terra Avium and we're here for it! You can't go wrong with an outlandish ethno-bop. Minus points for the lack of "smash the notification bell" during the YouTuber outro though tbh.

06 The Actual Republic of Bellamia: Lewis Blissett - Killing Butterflies
Our fellow AQ buddies! Wasn't it a fantastic feeling when we simultaneously got our best results ever last time?! *.* It's been an absolute pleasure to co-host with you! The song this month is excellent too, I definitely hear splatters of Troye Sivan. Who knew The Voice Kids housed actual talent?

07 Bøtanikkä: Ayla - Angelfalls (Elemental Force)
Addy you often do retro dance so well and this is definitely one of those occasions! What a glorious trance experience, take our points.

08 Rolloland: UNKLE feat. Richard Ashcroft - Lonely Soul
I was introduced to this track a few years ago when Dandy was trying to get me into UNKLE, but it's been a while since I last heard it, so thank you for reintroducing it to me! The instrumentation is stunning and Richard was a good fit alongside. Another one in my votes that progresses really well.

09 Espen: DEVILNOTCRY - NotEnoughOfYou
A Jadakissnia contest without a witch house entry? I don't think so!! Thank you for providing such a gem, it's great that Russia are keeping the witch house scene alive. Foreign language vocals and spooky beats are a match made in heaven.

10 Arcodesia: God Is An Astronaut - Echoes
This got my top points in the semi and I thought it was a dead cert for a medal, but this stayed about the same in my affections while a few others grew more. But 10 points is still absolutely fantastic, Arcodesia are becoming such an exciting nation for me right now. Gotta love a prog-rock instrumental!

11 Oslol: Bjørn Olav Edvardsen & Arcteec - Mountains
Woah where did THIS come from?! *.* This is instantly one of your best entries to date. The falsetto vocals and synths are such a dreamy combination, it reminds me a bit of one of my own entries - 'Waves' by Hugar feat. Arnor Dan. Hope this can be yet another Oslol hit for 2019!

12 Persephonia: Kælan Mikla - Draumadís
Normality is restored as Persephonia are firmly back in my points! This outcome didn't look so clear cut though as this 'only' got 2 points from me in the semi. This was due to the lo-fi nature of the vocals, I felt that they were quite drowned out. But it all clicked into place on subsequent listens as I got used to all the components of the song! I could never snub an Icelandic song really (well... except the New Lexico one. Oops. That was nice though) and those spooky synths really do the talking! Such a return to form for Persephonia.

13 Sergeistan: Zivert - Beverly Hills
Wow, you could say that I am just a tad impressed with Sergeistan's debut entry! I had faith in you guys after knowing what your music taste was like beforehand. I adore the 80s-esque synth production coupled with bi-lingual vocals, there's such a timeless feel to the whole package. I simply must check out more from Zivert now that the album is out there! Thank you for the discovery and keep up the good work.

15 Summericia: Covenant - Dead Stars
Okay, yes, this is more like it - Summericia are well and truly back *.* I feel like I haven't voted for you guys in a while but I was a huge fan a few years ago. This is the kind of stuff you do excellently, either spooky songs or synths! This harks back to the sound of Kraftwerk and of course I am 100% behind that. This has improved with every single listen and feels right to be up here in my medals. Congrats!

18 Trifoski: Moses Sumney - Rank & File
Somehow I have never given Trifoski an 18 before despite the psychic nation being my 3rd favourite overall, what! Well, that has all changed now. I first heard of Moses Sumney via James Blake's latest album and he has not disappointed with his solo stuff! This is so addictive in its urgency and lyrical content. It was compared to Young Fathers on plug.dj and I can totally see that. Hope this absolutely smashes for you tonight!

Good evening to the people of Jadakissnia and all international viewers, here with the results of the Persephonian televote, and we've managed to fix the minor voting bug that resulted in us snubbing Rompasso last month *cough* normal service is resumed

Our 18 with considerable ease goes to token post-rock entry of the month from Arcodesia, an absolute stormer that we can confirm sounds even better at ear piercingly loud volume as we hoped *.* post-rock is one of those genres that's just easy mode for getting high points from us and it's our first medal position to this nation, beating their previous best of 12 achieved in BJSC 110 (also with a post-rock entry naturally). No stranger to our medal positions though due to the old bloc voting algorithm which malfunctioned last month but is now fixed, it's 15 points to our wonderful and lovely host nation Jadakissnia with an equally wonderful and lovely James Blake esque entry rumour has it this Active Child song actually first made its rounds in the nation of the Bellsprout via some imported 7"s coming out of Persephonia which were in turn smuggled in from Skall so no surprise that it's near the top of our votes, the second 15 we've given to Jadakissnia this year and the 15th time in all they've ranked in our top 3. Completing our top 3 is a nation on fine form of late, it's 13 points to Espen with a spooktacular Russian witch house cut which has stood out more and more as time has gone by, second time they've been in our medal positions this year following the 18 to Sho Madjozi and their 10th medal position from us in total to date.

The biggest grower of the month, hopping up from just 4 points to 12 on our final national listenthrough, it's the first points we've given in a final to Wholune with an addictive and catchy pop rock tune. 11 points go to the iconic viral Mongolian throat singing metal track (need we say any more why we voted for it xx) from Beaverdonia and 10 points to the best retro dance entry from Bøtanikkä in quite a while (their first points from us since BJSC 107). Making a reappearance after an even longer wait is Ultraviolenceland who pick up 9 points with their lovely Lana Del Rey/Chris Isaak hybrid soundalike, their first points since we gave 8 to Liv Dawson in BJSC 88 which was also the previous highest points we'd ever given to them. Another nation making a comeback to our votes, 8 points go to Summericia with a Kraftwerk sampling retro electronic bop, miles better than their last couple of entries and our first points to them since BJSC 102. And then yet another comeback, as well as Jadakissnia the other auto-qualifier also gets points from us, it's 7 points to The Actual Republic of Bellamia with a semi-spoopy Troye Sivan-alike which is their first points from us since BJSC 92 and the first time they've ranked in our top 10 of a final since our 10 points (2nd place) to tyDi way back in BJSC 57! This is the second highest we've ever ranked one of their entries, oh my. Completing the top 10, 6 points go to a catchy but srs toe-tapper from Trifoski who have had a bit of a shorter wait since last getting points from us.

Filling out the mealworms: 5 points to another spoopy delight from Aeroche, 4 points to the returning Terra Avium with a typically unique ethnobop, 3 points to a grower from Cowtermont which we like a lot more than the last time someone recycled Feed Me (aka Spor) from us, 2 points to a beautiful track from Oslol, one of their best entries to date which we hope won't end their success streak, and 1 point goes to Skall with a lovely Friendly Fires esque bop which we should probably like more but it grew enough on the final listenthrough to just sneak in.

Many apologies to Séyetana as they squeezed into our 1 point on our relisten for the semi-final but do the opposite for the final (still a qt song we're very glad qualified though), Rolloland, Vülkyria and Danæviia were all growers but just not quite enough, and Fljótavík are punished for sending the wrong Jenny Hval song (this one is good and all but 'High Alice' was sitting right there!!)

Thanks for the hospitality and remember to vote for Kælan Mikla, we all know Persephonia winning in Jadakissnia just has to happen xxxxx

- Skall and Persephonia cast their votes now! Firstly… do our eyes deceive us? Are those… points for BEAVERDONIA? Hooray! Persephonia kindly lift them off 0 in style as they shoot up to double-figure points. They’re only joint last now too rather than hogging the floppy spot for themselves!! Meekul’s chart rivals in Séyetana are merely one point ahead, can Mongolian throat singing triumph over Iz’s Japanese representatives? Elsewhere, Jadakissnia become the first nation to receive three 18s tonight and the first to pass triple-figures! Woah. These two posters were very kind to us, with Harve awarding us top marks and Bré ranking us 2nd. We’ve got a bit of a lead going on now but it’s still way too early to tell anything. That Persephonia win in Jadakissnia could still happen (opposed to a Jadakissnia win in Jadakissnia *_*) - I mean look, have you noticed that a certain nation have turned things around in just a few sets of votes? This was Summericia who were floundering for a while with a major points drought… but now they’re up in joint 5th after some generous scores, hooray! Espen and Trifoski have also snuck into the top 10. Persephonia’s 18 for Arcodesia’s prog-rock experience has vaulted them up to 18th, funnily enough just one spot ahead of Persephonia themselves!

Will be interesting to see if Jade is setting herself up for defeat? Maybe she's being that altruistic that she'll let someone else grab that last minute win? I would enjoy an Active Child win though...

bit disappointed in how KSHMR is doing, hopefully it's fans are coming up in a bit but a few who I thought I could get points off have not delivered this time around

- CONGRATULATIONS Lotunia for winning BJSC for the very first time! An 18 from Silas and 12 from Lindsey sealed the deal as they smashed it past 300 points, fantastic stuff. These votes also ensured that Cor Lupus leapfrogged me to 2nd place at the last minute! This is my 4th 3rd place now but I had two 2nds as well to be fair, so no bother! This is the first time I’ve ever got two medal positions in a row yasssss. Hendinia remained 4th after being snubbed by both of those votes. Kylienips had the most incredible journey throughout this as they finish in an impressive 5th place after suddenly getting not one, not two, not three… but FOUR sets of 15 right near the end, incredible!! I’ll shut up now and let you have a look at the whole scoreboard yourselves. Everything should be correct now, with ties broken and the deduction implemented.

27th is a decent result after nearly coming last halfway in, pleased with that. Matching Lika Morgan's position too from when I was last in the final, how coincidental considering I originally sent both acts together as a collab!

Well done to NocheLuna on your first BJSC win,I think you made your debut a month after me. It's always good to see someone win for the first time.

For the second contest in a row,I didn't vote for any of the top six. The winner was 30th in my rankings but great to see Thelonia in 7th place.

I just missed out on the top 20 by 0.1 of a point. Not many countries voted for my song but most of those that did gave it lots of points,thanks to all of them.

Thanks so much guys for the kind words I was a bit stumped about what to do as a host with the lack of my YouTube recaps this time and Joseph setting such a high standard with the semi-finals. But I guess in the end the commentary came through as my hosting flair. I was a lil stressed earlier, with the phantom 2 points situation, but double-checking everything and realising the final scoreboard was correct anyway (Bray has also confirmed this, yay!) was a relief, so I've been able to relax for the night now and had a lot of fun watching you all react. Those votes were revealed in order of receipt btw, I love how they naturally conjured up drama anyway! Now time for 119 and... I got nothing, after two top 3s to live up to! Oops, better get searching

Well congrats Lotunia! Love seeing a new country win and especially a really interesting one, but not a song I got at all I'm afraid, it honestly didn't sound much different to the songs that finished last in the semi with 4 points, clearly in the minority here though. I wish you'd won last month!

I can't deny I'm rather disappointed there, one of my worst final results. I really thought this might go down better with how much reaction it got online where I found it, but I was clearly mistaken, I suppose I should've seen the signs when it wasn't even my favourite song in this final! Still got two more chances to get that elusive top 20 again I guess.

Espen doing so well is fantastic, though quite a lot of my votes are a bit too low down for my liking. Arcodesia in particular D:

oh wow that turned out well in the end! I think 8th is another unique position for me so both my top 10s have done that this year! Thanks to everyone who voted for The Spook Returns. Seems like it was grower as we out performed our semi performance and seemed to be in nearly every single vote for the last 10 or so votes so those late voters must've enjoyed it! Unsure what I'll be doing next month but I better keep this streak going.

Congrats Noche, good to see the late votes only strengthening the lead of the song leading as of the original deadline! I definitely got a bit of a winner vibe from the very first time I heard it so definitely no surprise to me, though I believe I was the only person to call it as the favourite so PersepBet will be tooting their own horn for a moment xx great to see another country getting a first win even if it's not a song I super loved! (Was just outside my commiserations). Also cool to finally have a winner with over 300 points and an actual lead over #2 again

Charlotte Lawrence, as I pondered earlier in the contest, joins an elite group of artists who have both won a contest and come last in a semi-final - although interestingly it's the third time this year it's happened after, unless I missed something, never happening before that! I remembered that White Lies did the same thing in BJSC 111 (getting a win after their previous entry came last with 11 points, Charlotte Lawrence making an even better improvement as her previous entry got only 9 points) but completely didn't notice that Bree Runway did the same thing last month albeit the other way round (following a winner with a last place in the semi).

That geekery aside a shame that Jadakissnia lost their top 2 position that they had almost entirely throughout at the last second but still very happy to see another top 3 for them with another wonderful entry <3 congrats to Cody on snatching the silver as well ofc, your turn to have an AQ. Although having peeped the semi scoreboards Aeroche were this close to losing their qualification streak this month, seemingly only getting in because of the non-voters...! Makes 23rd place seem like a pretty decent finish after all... these last 2 entries have been among Aeroche's better ones of late so eek at them not connecting as much as most! Happy to see Hendinia getting another top 5 (been too long!) as well, and wow Kylienips came out of nowhere in the end, didn't really care much for this Au/Ra song but well done on one of your better results to date Mikey ~

6th is fabulous for Espen (slightly better than witch house normally does) <3 good to see Vülkyria get another top 10 too and Klum Rep recovering after the slow start. Ojnoj coming top 10 seems a bit surprising but maybe shouldn't be as Spotify pop seems to be having a resurgence what with CXLOE's result last month and now this! Greenfroze also doing extremely well for a K-Pop song ;o dece results for Cowtermont and Oslol (though I wanted the latter to continue their top 10 streak aww), yay for Wholune getting a first top 20 though deserved a bit better than that, also a dece result for TARO Bellamia though I expected it a bit higher, a solid debut for Sergeistan although a bit of a shame they faded so much from being in winning contention earlier in the results, better result than expected for Séyetana. Biggest disappointments here for me are Arcodesia and Trifoski which I thought would both do wayyy better than they did and Beaverdonia to a lesser extent. Would also have liked to see UVland and Terra Avium higher but not surprised at their results. Oops at poor brave Holland-Oats going from leading in the first scoreboard to coming last but still another contest where everyone got over 100 points so nothing really truly flopped and it was my least fave song in this final so not complaining at it coming last. Lastly... 'We Are W.I.T.C.H.' avoiding the bottom 10 *_* oh my

When I first found my entry I was sure it had the potential to be pretty big but in light of Boy Harsher's underperformance last month I can't moan too much at this getting a similar result to that as it is a pretty similar sound. 22nd is also alright when it only came 12th in what seemed like a dream semi haha. A tad disappointed I didn't get any 18s with my favourite of my own entries this year but still got three medal positions which ain't too bad, thanks to those who voted for Kælan Mikla ~ I currently have zero ideas for the next contest as I haven't really been searching for BJSC songs again so shall have to get on that soon as we'll probably want to move onto the next contest quite swiftly again to get back on schedule!

Amazing to see the late surges for Kluminican Republic and Kylienips, from bottom 5 all the way to top 10 *.* 'We Are W.I.T.C.H.' escaping the bottom 10 was unexpected too! Nice to be the opposite to what I usually do! I've finished first in the semi and ended up struggling in the final a couple of times now, but I did the opposite this time *.* (v nearly didn't qualofy and ended up finishing top 10!) I had a feeling that was a tough semi for me!

Congrats Lotunia! Really enjoyed that song so don't begrudge it being a winner!

Happy with 13th, the highest I was in any of the results I think so I'll take anything from what is quite a disappointing year for us so far. Congrats NocheLuna, one of the songs that scraped into my points and thanks for hosting guys!

I think a list of most DNQs might be more up my street (although I've probably not been here anywhere near long enough to be at the top of that either)
