New detective series with Matthew Rhys starring in a TV remake series in the role of Perry Mason on Sky Atlantic (Mondays 9pm), really hard edging drama with strong language and some nudity, at first I was in two minds in watching it, but I was wrong I was really enticed by the new concept of Perry Mason, and its only 8 episodes long. The episode from start to finish invites you into the past and the dark side of Perry Mason and his family roots. Gets you gripped from the start, bit slow in places. I really enjoyed it and had me hooked from the first episode. Totally recommend it, but there is some brutal scenes.

Matthew Rhys plays Perry Mason to perfection the role was made for him, I wouldn't be surprised if he is nominated for another Emmy Award

Other faces you might recognise John Lithgow, Robert Patrick and Tatiana Masley from Orphan Black.

Apparently its from 1931-32 onwards, The episode gives the date away if you watch closely.

So was the Perry Mason we remember meant to have started his career in this era? I can't wait to watch it now!
