BuzzJack Music Forum _ Little Mix _ BRIT AWARD WINNERS!!!

Posted by: Jonjo 6th January 2017, 12:46 PM

So BRITS have retweeted a users drawing of Little Mix for a BRIT Awards related contest, surely only a matter of time before they announce that the girls are performing, right?

Posted by: Tinasha 6th January 2017, 01:47 PM

I really hope they can work in a performance! Nominations are a week today I think?

Posted by: Jonjo 6th January 2017, 01:54 PM

I remember that "We have a Little announcement coming soon..." tweet The Brits posted!

Just confirm already and stop killing us with the wait!! laugh.gif

Posted by: Tinasha 6th January 2017, 02:16 PM

Did they announce the performers or nominations first last year?

I predict they'll be nominated for the following:

British Group
British Single of the Year [On lock]
British Video

and Jesy for the Icon Award.

Posted by: Jonjo 6th January 2017, 02:26 PM

If it gets confirmed that they're performing, do you think it'll be with 'Shout Out To My Ex' or 'Touch'? Coz I have a feeling it could be 'Touch'... it seems like it lends itself more to a "moment" than another SOTME will.

But either way! I'll be happy!

I think it's more likely to be Touch this time round than SOTME. They probably get more say this time round given the fact they're bigger and more in demand. But I wouldn't be surprised if they did a mash up of the two.

Posted by: RobBob 6th January 2017, 03:17 PM

Shout Out To My Ex being a Best British Single nomination COULD tip that, but I think I'd rather see a Touch performance.

Posted by: Matt1989 6th January 2017, 03:19 PM

I'd love to see them perform at the Brits again, but I can't see how it would work with them having shows in New York the day before and the day after

There must be a reason why THAT date (in between two MSG shows) has been left off the tour though. I don't see any other reason as to why they'd choose a random day to have off, when they could've just inserted another MSG show/continued with the next date and finished the whole tour a day early overall?

I'm quite sure the BRITs are trying to get Ariana there, as I am sure she's one of the hot favourites to win International Female. We'll see though.

Posted by: MrLoverboy 6th January 2017, 04:41 PM

Last year Black Magic was their real SMASH and their only single from the album that they could perform with a dance routine, etc, so I guess it made sense to perform it instead of recent singles. But I think right now they'll perform their current singles like any artist, since everything is a smash now with them

Posted by: tomwright123 6th January 2017, 05:21 PM

I have a feeling "History" by 1D will be nominated for Video as well, so winning that is basically impossible

Posted by: Tinasha 12th January 2017, 12:57 PM

I think the nominations are tomorrow. We should also find out who's performing too.

Posted by: shindymindy 12th January 2017, 03:44 PM

The noms are being released on Sat

Posted by: Tinasha 12th January 2017, 03:45 PM

Oops, well I guess we still might find out the performers tomorrow. Not that I expect Little Mix can make it.

Posted by: colinn 12th January 2017, 04:06 PM

Seriously, I'd even take a performance of "Touch - Acoustic". They clearly don't have enough time to rehearse for a full choreographed performance, so showcase your vocals to the general public ladies.

Posted by: Electro Paradise 12th January 2017, 07:07 PM

I hope we do get a performance from them. I love both SOTME and Touch so wouldn't mind which one they picked, however, Touch could really be a special moment in their career that I'd be more interested in seeing that, especially with an accapella (or acoustic) beginning. A medley of SOTME and Touch would also peak my interest.

Posted by: Tinasha 12th January 2017, 07:13 PM

Let's face it, a Brits Touch performance would be insane. Like, with their second album, Salute over Move is a more exciting performance (even though I prefer Move as a song).

If they performed Touch and released the video around the same time, what do you think their chances of snagging #2 would be? Since I think Ed's gonna be #1 for a while, #2 is the best we can hope for at this point.

Waaaaay too late sadly.

Touch will snatch at BRITs 2018

Guys I know it's The Sun but...

QUOTE
He’ll be joined on the bill by rockers THE 1975 and LITTLE MIX, who will be performing for a second successive year.

I have a feeling it could be a great night for the girlband as they have a strong chance of picking up Best Album.

Best album...I know I've said against it but it HAS spent 5 weeks at #1....

They could end up with nominations for...

Best British Single
Best Group
Best Album
Best Video....

IMAGINE 4 nominations.

Posted by: MrLoverboy 13th January 2017, 10:35 PM

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS. And The Sun was the one who leaked SOTME lyrics, right?

Posted by: shindymindy 13th January 2017, 11:04 PM

They also won the Sun 'best album of the year' award for Glory Days

I think he's on the judging panel too actually

Posted by: Jamesy 14th January 2017, 12:03 AM

Officially announced that they are performing!

GET IT GIRLIES!!!!

AHHHHHH. SO, SO HAPPY!!!!! That will hopefully put them in favour of winning an award or two!

Posted by: Electro Paradise 14th January 2017, 12:17 AM

Awesome news! Really excited to see this! Hats off to them flying back to the UK for this then back to the US straight after.

Posted by: MrLoverboy 14th January 2017, 12:46 AM

So so so so excited! Can't wait to see what they'll perform and how!

Posted by: shindymindy 14th January 2017, 01:13 AM

Whoop - maybe that's why the video is so delayed.

There must be some sort of remix or feature.

Posted by: Serg 14th January 2017, 01:21 AM

Yassssss get it!

Posted by: Defaze 14th January 2017, 04:16 AM

Ah, great news! Hoping they perform 'Touch' but I imagine it'll be SOTME since they're guaranteed a nom for that.

Posted by: BrookeOlivia 14th January 2017, 11:34 AM

Cant wait to see them perform! wub.gif I hope to god they win an award this year.

Posted by: Matt1989 14th January 2017, 12:27 PM

So happy they're performing again. I didn't expect they would be so this is a very pleasant surprise. If they don't win an award this year then goodness knows what they have to do

Posted by: Jonjo 14th January 2017, 12:51 PM

I get the feeling 1975 (who are also performing - for the first time) will win Best album. But to even get nominated is a blessing at all! So I hope it's true!

Posted by: tomwright123 14th January 2017, 01:14 PM

I think the competition for Best Group is rife this year, but I have predicted the following:
Little Mix
The 1975
The Rolling Stones
Radiohead
Bastille

Hopefully the girls can take this one! They really deserve it after all their success this year

Posted by: Tinasha 14th January 2017, 03:22 PM

Looking at the nominations for best album from the past few years make me think Little Mix have a very slim chance of a nomination. A nomination in that category would be quite something.

2014
Arctic Monkeys – AM
Bastille – Bad Blood
David Bowie – The Next Day
Disclosure – Settle
Rudimental – Home
2015
Ed Sheeran – X
Alt-J – This Is All Yours
George Ezra – Wanted on Voyage
Royal Blood – Royal Blood
Sam Smith – In the Lonely Hour
2016
Adele – 25
Coldplay – A Head Full of Dreams
Florence and the Machine – How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful
James Bay – Chaos and the Calm
Jamie xx – In Colour

No outright pop acts here. 2015 was a particularly dark time.

Posted by: MrLoverboy 14th January 2017, 03:29 PM

I'm putting my money on
Single, Video (obviously) and Group. Album would be an amazing surprise, but I'm not expecting it at all.

Posted by: tomwright123 14th January 2017, 03:42 PM

I more than understand everyone's scepticism, however, apart from the obvious of the 1975 and Emeli Sande, I struggled to think of any other "stand out" albums that the brits would have chosen for the album category. The girls have been massive this year, and so has the album, they are also plastered around the brits twitter page as well as being the most mentioned name in all the replies. A nomination would be a shock, however I genuinely think it could happen

Posted by: Jonjo 14th January 2017, 04:06 PM

I assume Skepta and Kano could be in with a chance too?

I wouldn't be surprised if "konnichiwa" got a nod

Posted by: Tinasha 14th January 2017, 04:36 PM

I know most categories are era-by-era, but video and single are not. So is there any chance Hair will be nominated for best video instead of SOTME?

Posted by: Cameron 14th January 2017, 04:40 PM

I am so curious as to what they will perform, they could do either Secret Love Song, Hair, Shout Out To My Ex or Touch *.*

I think if Jason Derulo or Sean Paul is there then they might perform the Get Weird tracks and finish with Shout Out To My Ex.

I don't think artists perform an old era at the Brits usually do they?

Posted by: Jonjo 14th January 2017, 04:57 PM

I think it'll go one of two ways. They'll have a "surprise duet" with someone big (maybe a collab with Ariana?) or I reckon they'll perform 'Touch' acoustically tbh. I think that could be a big vocal moment for the girls! Plus, it'll give them chance to relax a little/not put too much on them for their tour with Ariana etc..

Obviously these are just my predictions laugh.gif

*the girls come and perform SOTME with full choreo and everything*

SOTME nominated in Best Single!

I would have preferred album over video, but hey 3 noms is great and more importantly they'll be performing on the night.

No I don't think so, it's usually one of the highest ones, but not the highest, but SOTME does have the potential to climb the list sales wise. The year Beat Again won I remember being in big shock that Cheryl didn't win.

Posted by: Matt1989 14th January 2017, 09:16 PM

While Glory Days not being nominated for Best Album is ridiculous I'm incredibly proud that they've got three nominations

Posted by: BigMixer 14th January 2017, 10:14 PM

3 nominations is still amazing for them!

They are most likely to win Best Group, right?

Posted by: Jonjo 15th January 2017, 01:45 AM

They have the most nominations along with Skepta and Rihanna (who doesn't really count as most her noms are from Calvin being Scottish!) Absolutely incredible not only for them, but for a British pop act in general!

Stunned and majorly "WTF" at Ariana's snub though... but that's for a different topic!

SLAY GIRLIES.

Also, Louis has tweeted that he's thankful for the nomination, but they won last time and that he's def on team #BRITVIDLITTLEMIX this year. *.* Hopefully his supporters will do the same!

Nah. I imagine they were used as "the token pop act". Usually it's 1D, but obviously they haven't been around and they're up against usual, standard BRIT award fare...

British group
The 1975
Bastillle
Biffy Clyro
Little Mix
Radiohead

I reckon it'll go to The 1975 or Biffy Clyro, but IMAGINE if Little Mix won that. That'd be immense!

Posted by: Matt1989 15th January 2017, 07:23 AM

Little Mix definitely deserve Best Group, especially given the competition. If they miss out on Best Video to 1D again there will be the social media equivalent of a riot

Posted by: caseclosed 15th January 2017, 02:05 PM

I think there's a very good chance they'll leave the ceremony empty-handed, but I'd rather them get best group than best single. It'd mean the world for them and I actually think it's the more appropriate award as I don't think SOTME is the best one out of the 10 nominated, but I'll take anything. A 1D win is almost certain, which is truly pathetic.

Posted by: Liаm 15th January 2017, 02:19 PM

I will go absolutely mad if they don't win best group... I just looked back 20+ years on Best Group winners and every single year apart from Take That in 2011, it's been a rock/indie/alt band... The 1975 will probably get it and I HATE them. They are so overrated, tumblr white girl fodder. I hate that the BRITs are basically the Mercury Prize, but then Girls Aloud never won a BRIT either until they got best single for The Promise. I know it shouldn't all be about sales, but the girls have absolutely smashed this year so I'd be so disappointed for them to go home empty handed. I feel like there is still a bit of a stigma that girlbands are for kids or less musically worthy :/ But virtually everyone has loved SOTME and Touch this year. I guess we can hope for them to shockingly take Best Single like GA did for The Promise *.*

Posted by: Matt1989 15th January 2017, 02:24 PM

I actually saw a Harmonizer on Twitter say it was ridiculous Glory Days didn't get nominated for Best Album (yes, really). If they only win one and it's Best Group I'll be happy. I'm sure we'll try our best for Best Video but going up against 1D in a fan voted award is a hiding to nothing

Posted by: Tinasha 15th January 2017, 02:38 PM

I really don't think you should get your hopes up for best group. I'm really glad they were nomiated this year because it's hard enough for a pop act to manage it and they should have been nominated last year really. I also wouldn't get hopes up for video either, I know they're bigger now but One Direction got like 20x the tweets to help them win last year.

The one I'd think they have a most likely chance of winning is Best Single, historically, that's the one that pop acts have the most chance of winning, most other awards are geared towards indie/rock acts.

Posted by: caseclosed 15th January 2017, 02:49 PM

I'm torn between wanting them to deliver a vocal moment on that stage or a showstopper performance. On the one hand, a vocal moment would sort of justify a potential win and make them more credible before the public, on the other one, their performances slay.

#BritVidOneDirection was the #1 worldwide trend 5 minutes after the voting begun. There's no way Little Mix is winning that. If it was only Zayn they'd manage it.

So yeah, pop acts really don't do too well in succeeding in that category (which is ironic really, when it's the pop acts everyone seems to remember when people are asked to "Name a group" basil.gif) the last (and seemingly only) pop act to win (in 20 years) was Take That in 2011! FOUR nominations for One Direction though (shoulda been 3 and Little Mix should've had their place last year in all honesty laugh.gif but que sera sera!)

All those man bands who play "reeeel muzak" though...

I can't believe the Spice Girls never won and that Westlife were never nominated - both were hugely successful at their peak. This is why I don't care about who wins the Brits, because the awards mean nothing. I just like the performances as you know the artists are going to go all out.

Posted by: Matt1989 17th January 2017, 05:45 PM

Westlife's first 7 singles, 10 of their first 11, all went to Number 1 so the fact they never won Best Group defies belief

I might be wrong, but I THINK Westlife wouldn't be under "British" group!

That's a great point haha! They were so dominant in the UK I totally forgot you had to actually be British in nationality.

Posted by: pippa 17th January 2017, 08:39 PM

Pop Groups/ Acts generally don't do very well at the Brits despite the success they have achieved or not. The Spice Girls are a fine example, and its crazy to think they didnt ever win this award. The success they achieved at the there peak was huge. Indie style bands always win best group.

I never get excited too much by the Brits as year after year some of the winners defies belief and its a very bias awards ceremony unfortunately.

Posted by: Jonjo 15th February 2017, 08:02 PM

This makes it even more depressing but here's how the winners would look, based on sales! (Although they should've ranked the video one as views)

I'm sick to the back teeth of SOTME, and I don't even like it anyway.

Posted by: Electro Paradise 22nd February 2017, 06:18 PM

I'd prefer Touch, but I really like both their singles from this era so won't be terribly upset either way. I feel with how well Touch has done off the back of one performance though it should get the performance... it could potentially outsell SOTME in the end if it was to get another big boost like this.

I mashup would be awesome too, give both songs a big boost.

Hopefully it's as good as last years performance, I'm a bit worried with just two days rehearsals.

Posted by: Tinasha 22nd February 2017, 06:24 PM

They've had 4 days rehearsal, which is more than enough. Shout Out To My Ex doesn't feel like it has the same kind of energy to impress that Touch does, like there's no room for a dance break etc.

Posted by: mr_pmt 22nd February 2017, 06:37 PM

Is it absolutely confirmed they're doing SOTME?

Posted by: Liаm 22nd February 2017, 07:19 PM

I'm sure I read earlier on Twitter it was a mash-up but icr who said it so can't find it now laugh.gif That would make sense, they had Hair, SLS, SOTME and Touch since the last BRITs so it would fit in with how the BRITs are to celebrate the hits and successes of the past year if they did a couple of those, preferably Touch and SOTME.

GREAT PERFORMANCE YET AGAIN.

AHHH! THEY WILL BE NOTICED!! mad.gif

Posted by: shindymindy 22nd February 2017, 07:49 PM

Absolutely PERFECT performance.

Incredible (even if we didn't get Touch).

Posted by: Electro Paradise 22nd February 2017, 08:40 PM

They smashed it again. They really are flawless performers now. Shame they didn't win best group, I thought that might have been their best chance, but regardless if they go home with awards are not, they had an incredible year.

BRITISH SINGLE

Posted by: Electro Paradise 22nd February 2017, 08:59 PM

Whoop! They were so happy! I didn't think they'd get anything after they didn't get group. They can go back to the US on a high. XD

Posted by: BigMixer 22nd February 2017, 09:00 PM

WOW!!

So unexpected!! Beyond happy for the girls!!

It took them so long to get to the stage biggrin.gif

Posted by: pippa 22nd February 2017, 09:09 PM

I am beyond happy they got a Brit Award, Best Group would have been wonderful but they got an award which is huge for them.

Posted by: BrookeOlivia 22nd February 2017, 09:52 PM

Over the moon they won "Best Single" wub.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 22nd February 2017, 10:07 PM

FINALLY! wub.gif

Pisses me off that the fans vote for video and it's not won on actual merit, but what a great year for them. They deserve everything and MORE! Hopefully a Best Group nomination again and an actual win!

Posted by: BrookeOlivia 22nd February 2017, 10:56 PM

Random question but will they get a brit award each or just that 1 between them? Never known how it works when a group win an award laugh.gif huh.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 22nd February 2017, 11:01 PM

I think they have to pay for duplicates. So I think it's just the one!

Could be wrong though!

Posted by: OutstandingMixer 22nd February 2017, 11:20 PM

GO ON ME BABBERS! wub.gif So pleased for them, well deserved. biggrin.gif

Looks like I made the right choice between Little Mix and Bristol City tonight (lost yet again). dry.gif

Posted by: Tinasha 22nd February 2017, 11:39 PM

No they get one each! They take ages to arrive sometimes though. I think Nadine said hers took like a year to arrive.

Posted by: Juliano 22nd February 2017, 11:42 PM

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING news to come home to! So sad I missed the ceremony, but the performance was a "pure belta!" laugh.gif wub.gif

They probably wouldn't have won too if that was the case lol

Posted by: Matt1989 23rd February 2017, 08:31 AM

So so incredibly proud of the girls. They deserve this award so much. Yeah it's annoying that they missed out on Best Group and Best Video, but at least they did get one- and best of all they were genuinely shocked when they got it. Their backstage interview afterwards was hilarious- especially Jade mistaking the award for the microphone!

As for the performance- wow. They all looked stunning blonde and were as vocally flawless as always

Posted by: Juliano 23rd February 2017, 10:27 AM

So many amazing moments from this. When Leigh Anne wants to hold the award, so she takes it and Perrie says "I've got the conch." from Lord of The Flies ahahaha! Jesy is just swearing her head off, they all appear to be orally embracing the award. Omg and at the end Jade being the award is everything.

I was so happy when they won the BRIT <3 We had people over for pres and I was just screaming my head off laugh.gif I was raging at them losing to The 1975 too but that's another matter. I don't think it should be based all on sales, or all on critics, but I do think when a group pretty much saves British music for the year, they deserve a Best Group award. Especially for a girl group to do this, Tumblr fodder indie bands are ten a penny and 1975's sales were hardly fantastic, just good.

Yeah I agree, as long as 1D are in it they'll win, but thankfully we should be free of them in the 2018 awards as hopefully their break lasts long enough so that by the time they come back they'll have to wait another year. But next year will just Ed Sheeran laugh.gif I mean tbf I don't think the Hair video was good enough to win that award, but nor were any of them really. It's a bit of a silly way to decide really, because being the most viewed videos it's naturally going to be skewed towards fanbase acts, the biggest hits and those with hype etc., like Zayn when he left 1D was always going to have huge views because of people being curious. Also, international views count don't they so why should an act like 1D be given more chance just because they're worldwide and have more delusional fans? I'd say leave it to the panel but we can't trust them either, The 1975 would bloody win it.

Posted by: shindymindy 23rd February 2017, 11:02 AM

I think LM stand a very good chance of winning video next year.
Can't see anyone (apart from 1D) beating them on a fan vote. Not even solo 1D actually

Zayn wouldn't have won yesterday if 1D weren't there. Their fans will vote for the group and not individually I feel
I don't think the 1D solo efforts can beat LM actually

Posted by: Liаm 23rd February 2017, 12:01 PM

I think Harry Styles as a solo artist would, but not the others. He'll definitely be the Robbie of the group. I think Ed probably would too. Hopefully the girls get best group next year at least :/

Posted by: MrLoverboy 24th February 2017, 02:45 AM

What is UK media saying about LM: them getting the award, performance and their drunkness? I'm curious

I don't think Ed would win if it was up to the fans, but once he tweets something and everyone retweets he'll likely win because his social following is probably huge. Sad. But yeah agree about Harry. If there's ONE solo 1d that can beat Little Mix it's probably him (though I guess it will depend on the music too). The reason Zayn was "left behind" is because he left, went all bad boy about it, trashed the boys, etc. And even with all that he still has an ok following, so imagine Harry that's like the "king" of the group?

From the articles I've seen and read, they seem to generally be positive? Especially when it comes to the performance.

Retweets actually don't count luckily laugh.gif And everyone can only vote once, so I think 1D win because they have the widest fanbase with the most people. If it was about being rabid and retweeting and tweeting loads I'm sure we could put up a fight kink.gif

Posted by: Court 24th February 2017, 02:51 PM

I actually think it will just depend on who makes the cut off based on views. If LM, Zayn, Harry, Liam and Louis (Niall wouldn't be nominated because he's Irish right?) are all nominated it's possible that it would split the 1D vote into small enough sections that LM would still win. Even then Harry would have the best chance at beating them and could probably pull it off but there would still be more hope than there was this year and last year
