BuzzJack Music Forum _ Movies and Theatre _ Least Favourite Disney Animated Classic Round 20

Posted by: Acidburn 5th January 2016, 03:14 AM

Welcome to Round 20 of Least Fave Disney Animated Classic and sad to say that leaving us is the magnificent "Frozen", the 53rd Disney animated feature from Disney and to date is their most successful animated feature with over $1.2 Billion grossed worldwide, not only that it's also the highest grossing animated movie of all time also and will forever sustained in pop culture references. Disney have had successful songs before, but never like "Let It Go", it just struck a chord with people and I have to admit it did take me a while to get round to actually seeing it, but when I did, I was just blown away by how amazing it is and can see why everybody loves it. Everything about this works, the story, the animation and even the characters, it's just an amazing movie.

As "Frozen" gained the most votes with 9 and has had a really strong run throughout and only started gaining higher votes in the last couple of rounds and came really close on two occasions, sad to see it go, but at least it made the top 15 and it also means that we have lose all of the modern Disney films. 2 other features gained the 2nd highest votes "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame" and "Mulan" both gained 5 votes, (could one of those end up on the chopping block next. "Bambi" again gains 3 votes, while "Alice In Wonderland", "Lady and the Tramp", "Sleeping Beauty", "101 Dalmatians" and "The Little Mermaid" each gains 1 vote each.

15th Frozen = 9 Votes

Well what can I say that hasn't already been said about this. Everybody has been talking about this as a true return to form for Disney, as this decade they have released some amazing films such as "Tangled" and "Wreck It Ralph" , but this probably blows both of them out of the sky, this has fast become one of my personal fave Disney movies, not only in recent years, but all time. With 2 Oscars under it's belt and for the first time they have beaten Pixar (which have pretty much taken Disney's audience for years), Now Disney are back with a bang and even "Let It Go" will forever be drummed into everybody's head for the next thousand years. It appeals to adults as well as kids and has that sophisticated and classic feel to it. The visuals speak for themselves, they are just amazing, that snow looks so real and yet so beautiful at the same time and then there's the characters, I just loved them all Elsa, Anna, Kirstoff and Olaf, the voice work on them were outstanding and Idina Menzel's singing voice sends shivers down your spine. What I also liked was the part where after Anna's heart had been frozen, she has to do an act of true love to break the spell, then you think it's gonna go one way, then does a complete 180 and does something else entirely, which to me was done perfectly and relates to the theme of sisterhood, which this movie is about. Then there's the Hans twist, (which I did see coming), it was really good though, even though I did know it was gonna happen. So in all, "Frozen" is just an amazing masterpiece that will forever be in our hearts.

So now guys just 14 left now, same rules apply just vote for your least fave and the one with the most votes will be gone by the next round, which will be on 9th January 2016.

Mulan now please.

Well I can't say I didn't see that coming heehee.gif Frozen was a great film tho, just hanging on the edge of the top 15 doesn't really do it justice...

Not enough votes for Hunchback as of late nono.gif

^What do you mean doesn't do it justice? Have you seen the other films on the list? Anything in the top 25 has done incredibly with the strength of these polls.

Mulan for me now.

Mulan

Bambi.

The Jungle Book for me. Can't stand it.

Posted by: Oliver 5th January 2016, 12:43 PM

Love all of these films but went for The Jungle Book, it's between that and Hunchback for the weakest.

Forzen is probably about 10 places too high, but even that isn't bad because of how good these are.

It's Lady and the Tramp for me. Not as fondly remembered as everything else here.

I love Hunchback - :'(

'Sleeping Beauty' again. Gordon Bennet. drama.gif

Posted by: UltraChristmas 5th January 2016, 04:18 PM

UGH. cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif I'll actually comment my thoughts on why I think Frozen (as well as the more recent Disney movies in general) deserve higher here but that will be later as I'm rushing to go out soon smile.gif

Notre Dame for me again, good to see that leading by quite a lot!

I think this year I am going to (re) watch all the Disney Classics in order, since I now own all but 1 of them on DVD.

Posted by: Chez Wombat 6th January 2016, 10:04 PM

^I did that last summer as I was writing my dissertation on Disney, was such fun wub.gif (though quite painful when you got to the movies from 2000-2007 laugh.gif)

Anyway, going for Sleeping Beauty as it's the only one left I'm not that big on, though Hunchback going wouldn't be bad as it's not really on the same level of some of these. 15th is about right for Frozen, it's great but not quite up there with their VERY best.

Huh funnily enough just realized that "Frozen" is the 40th movie voted out here, dunno why I'm bringing it up now, just thought that it was an interesting fact. Looks like "Hunchback Of Notre Dame" is gonna go next, by miles unless some sort of miracle happens, which I doubt.
