Chart Analysis
After eight weeks of Disclosure at the top they give way to a new chart topper in Juice WRLD whose debut chart hit 'Lucid Dreams' climbs two places to number one. In doing so he becomes the first rapper to top the chart since Macklemore's guest appearance on 'These Days' for Rudimental earlier this year, and it is the first hip-hop song to do so since Fuse ODG took 'Million Pound Girl (Badder Than Bad)' to number one in January of 2014. It really is that rare of an occurrence, not even the chart megastar that is Drake could do it: to date his only #1 remains his feature on Rihanna's 'What's My Name'. Juice WRLD is also the first artist to go to #1 with his debut chart appearance since Darren Styles & Stonebank (feat. EMEL) earlier this year with 'Sky Is Falling' (all three artists had not appeared in the chart prior, not even Darren Styles as the peak of his success happened well before the inception of Thermo's hot hits).
Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa had been very close to Disclosure the past few weeks and they finally overtake this week, which means they remain at #2 for an eighth consecutive week (and nine in total) with 'One Kiss'. Disclosure's 'Ultimatum' slips to #3.
This week there are four big climbers into the top ten, a relatively large number for this chart. Firstly at #4 is Moby, up 28 places, helped by his BJSC appearance with 'This Wild Darkness' (CYA Remix). It is the first chart appearance for both artists. David Zowie jumps 32 places to #5 with 'Trippin On Me' to claim his second top five hit. Following just behind at #6 is Nora En Pure whose 'Don't Look Back' becomes her fourth top ten hit. Third Party jump an even bigger 37 places to enter the top 40 and at #7 with 'Midnight', their third chart appearance (all have gone top ten) and first since 'Everyday Of My Life' hit #2 four years ago, quite an unlikely comeback really.
Drake gets yet another hit as 'In My Feelings', helped by it becoming a single, enters the top 40 at #12, just behind his own 'Don't Matter To Me' which drops to #11. Chicane climbs into the top 20 with 'I Came Here For You', up to #15. deadmau5 revisits the top 20 with 'Monophobia' following its official release, up to #16. CLiQ are brand new at #17 with 'Clap Clap', the follow-up to their #2 debut hit 'Wavey' from earlier this year.
Charli XCX jumps 14 places to #22 with 'Focus', avoiding her own curse of #31 peaks (four songs she features on have peaked at #31). Childish Gambino enters at #28 with new single 'Summertime Magic', instantly outpeaking everything else he has ever done. His previous peak was #34 for 2017's 'Redbone' (though it had great longevity considering the peak). It follows 'This Is America' which made it to #50.
Ariana Grande also gets another chart hit as 'God Is A Woman' enters at #31. It follows 'No Tears Left To Cry' (#11) and 'The Light Is Coming' (#33) to be the third single taken from forthcoming 'Sweetener'. It is her ninth top 40 hit in all. Becky Hill & Jacob Plant team up for 'Only Love', which enters at #36. It becomes Hill's 10th top 40 hit though her first in two years (since #39 peaking 'False Alarm' with Matoma) and the first hit for Plant. Finally DJ Licious climbs into the top 40 at #37 with 'Rich Girl'. It follows 'Twisted Games' (#23) to become his fourth chart hit and it features Dragonette who get their fifth top 40 hit.
In a week with so many songs entering the top 40 it is also the week Avicii's 'Lonely Together' finally exits. It slips to #58 after 48 weeks in the top 40 (45 of those spent in the top 20). His 'Without You' exits the chart altogether for the first time too and 'Wake Me Up' also drops out the top 100. A lot of new entries fall outside the top 40 including those by Blonde, Lucas & Steve and Christine and the Queens.

good chart
Hello Dan!
Great stability for "One Kiss"!
As for the debuts, I like "Summertime Magic", "God Is A Woman", "Me, Myself & I" and "Doesn't Matter"!
All of them are great for the summer season!
Great chart as always!
Hi Dan!
OMFG THIS WILD DARKNESS IN THE TOP 5
The new David Zowie is quite a banger, but I haven't really been able to get into it too much
I remember hearing that Third Party song when it came out but I kinda snubbed it, I should probs go give it another listen!
New CLiQ is a big tune, but I feel like their never gonna match Wavey again :/
That Jacob Plant/Becky Hill song is SO good, it neeeeeds an official release omg
Also loving new entries from Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman, Joe Stone/Boiler, Blonde and Abacus!
Great Chart!
Hey Dan,
As you’ve likely gathered by now I am back to doing my own weekly personal chart , yes it is the return of the Top 40 Countdown by awardinary. Part of my reasons for doing this was not only to express my enjoyment of music but also to give my opinions on what music others are currently enjoying too! With that in mind, let me share my opinion on your chart!
My highlights from your chart at the moment are Calvin Harris, Disclosure, Au/Ra & Camelphat, Jax Jones, Sigala, CliQ, Tiësto, Childish Gambino, Gorgon City, Duke Dumont and Jess Glynne. All are fabulous songs! I look forward to making new discoveries again from browsing your chart in the future!
Do you have a public playlist of your personal chart either on Apple Music, Spotify or YouTube? If so I would be interested in following it (if I don’t already!).
Also I’d just like to add that it’s my privilege to be asked to be one quarter of the moderating team here in the personal charts forum, and just like the other 3, I want you to find me approachable too. I hope I can continue to make this forum an enjoyable experience for everyone!
thanks for the comments so far.
