BuzzJack Music Forum _ Taylor Swift _ BRIT Awards • Nominated • Global Icon Recipient!

Posted by: Ultra's Version 31st March 2021, 03:32 PM

fab to see Taylor scoring another brit nom wub.gif

This is her sixth nom now! (International breakthrough - 2010, female - 2013/2015/2018 & video - 2018). Hopefully she can pick up her 2nd brit after winning for the 1989 era <3 I feel she could!

Hopefully she'll perform too for the first time since 1989 era!! The only time she hasn't performed when she was nominated for international female was reputation and that was the point in the era we we're getting zero promotion

yass! wub.gif

a performance would be amazing! cheeseblock.png

Posted by: LondonN11 31st March 2021, 05:33 PM

I agree - I think she’s got a good chance of winning this! Really hoping she performs too! I love Ed the folklore / evermore mash up for the Grammys!

Posted by: ...ready for it 31st March 2021, 08:23 PM

I'm worried about Billie Eilish being there, but I hope Taylor can pull off a win!

Posted by: John-James 1st April 2021, 08:49 AM

Her BRIT performances are always amazing so I have very high expectations if she’s announced as a performer

Posted by: Ultra's Version 9th May 2021, 12:00 PM

Guessing no performance ffs 😭

Ah why do you say that? Have they released which performances are happening??

Posted by: London 9th May 2021, 10:02 PM

I’ve read that Taylor is going to be awarded with the global icon award? But it’s not from a ‘reliable’ tabloid so I’m not sure about it’s authenticity.

Posted by: Ultra's Version 9th May 2021, 10:54 PM

I will wait from someone that’s not the s*n to believe it but i rly hope that’s true!!!! Absolutely iconic and so deserved if so! And also that means we better get a medley and performance and not a f***ing 13 second thank you speech if that’s the case 😂

Yeah most the line-up has been announced! (And alongside the usual brits there’s Pink, Olivia Rodrigo and The Weeknd). Tbf there’s usually one last surprise but I watched 2018 and 2020 waiting for a surprise Taylor performance and as we know I was a clown and neither happened 😂😂

I rly hope we get a performance this year considering how often she’s in London 😂

Posted by: London 9th May 2021, 11:04 PM

Let’s live in hope (or is it delusion) that she gets the award and linked to this she turns out to be the surprise performer teresa.gif

Posted by: Ultra's Version 9th May 2021, 11:07 PM

Official charts company have posted an article on it!!! Hopefully this is true then omfg ohmy.gif

Now can we get a performance confirmation plz laugh.gif I lowkey feel like she won't perform even if she gets global icon fml

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 9th May 2021, 11:09 PM

Surely she will perform them? I’m guessing she won’t win international female now

It's Taylor, I'm mentally preparing myself for a 13-second speech filled with Easter Eggs against a plain backdrop laugh.gif kink.gif

But yeah I'd be shocked if we aren't getting a performance or something then?! Lemme hope anyway

Posted by: London 9th May 2021, 11:14 PM

This is great news! And so deserved. OCC seems like a reliable source ! Go Taylor!! Man I hope she does perform now unsure.gif I could really do with a spectacular Taylor performance

Posted by: London 9th May 2021, 11:16 PM

The Guardian have also reported it now as the first female winner of the award cheer.gif

Didn't Pink win it a couple of years ago though? (unless they just renamed it tongue.gif)

Great to see anyway, and thoroughly deserved! Hopefully she is actually there

I thought so too but she won Outstanding Contribution to Music! (because for some unknown reason, that and global icon are somehow different things laugh.gif)

Posted by: ...ready for it 9th May 2021, 11:48 PM

Global icon sounds more significant.

Yeah so it’s slightly different. Apparently this one has been given to Elton John, David Bowie and Robbie Williams in the past - and only ever men!

I want her there - and performing!

Ahh yeah that makes sense, though those 3 are the only ever winners of it before.

Wow I didn’t realise they had been the only 3 winners in the past. Clearly not an award which is given out a lot.

Posted by: Bjork 11th May 2021, 07:19 AM

she should bring Justin/Bon Iver!!!

Posted by: Ultra's Version 11th May 2021, 10:07 AM

Tonight!!!

So excited but I do feel more and more like she's not gonna perform argh! Even just thinking about it, if she does a medley - she can't perform anything from red/1989/rep right? (Unless she performs/previews re-recorded versions? idk how it all works). so unless we get a greatest hits medley of love story/you belong with me/messT/you need to calm down/lover/cardigan/willow, or a folklore/evermore based performance idk I feel we're just gonna get a clip of artists discussing her & her career + a speech (which'd still be great!)

Yes that was a v. rambling thoughts paragraph x

Posted by: Ultra's Version 11th May 2021, 06:46 PM

Posted by: Ultra's Version 11th May 2021, 07:14 PM

Ready for tonight cheer.gif Hopefully we get some nice surprise plz!!

Posted by: pippa 11th May 2021, 10:10 PM

Very heartfelt speech.

Posted by: Ultra's Version 11th May 2021, 10:44 PM

the way the amount of rumours that any of 1989, Red or Speak Now could be the next re-recording after tonight is insane laugh.gif Girl you were meant to clear this up for us tonight not make it even more complicated kink.gif

Posted by: London 11th May 2021, 10:48 PM

Aww I enjoyed her speech. Always love what she says. Idk why I was expecting more tonight though.

It was one of her best speeches, loved it so much 😍

Tbh I kinda was expecting more tonight but I had a feeling this was gonna be all we were gonna get, we’ve been down this road one too many times 😂 nothing will be worse than the IHeart Radio Awards in March 2019 😂

Posted by: Ultra's Version 11th May 2021, 11:58 PM

Taylor and Olivia met!! ❤️❤️❤️

Posted by: ...ready for it 11th May 2021, 11:59 PM

Posted by: dannjohn 12th May 2021, 09:09 AM

she made such a big deal about not hugging Maisie at the Brits and went backstage and hugged her laugh.gif

Posted by: dannjohn 12th May 2021, 09:10 AM

TBH i don't wanna be speculating but I feel there's a trilogy album coming... she said in her speech about releasing 3 albums but then only named 'folklore' and 'evermore'

Fearless (Taylor’s Version) was the 3rd album released recently so I don’t think that’s gonna be the case unfortunately!

Posted by: dannjohn 12th May 2021, 10:27 AM

yes but my point is... she's recorded more than just 'fearless' and we know '1989' is coming... so feels weird for her to make it a 3 thing...

but fearless is the only one released so far and she literally stated she released 3 albums in the past 12 months...

Posted by: Jade 12th May 2021, 10:33 AM

Yeah they even showed images of 'folklore', 'evermore' and 'Fearless (Taylor's Version)' in her build-up video so I just took it to mean that!

Loved her speech heart.gif

i'm just speculating for the easter egg... there must be something in that speech that suggests something for a future project.

Why, what happened in the IHeart Radio Awards???

Posted by: spiceboy 12th May 2021, 07:10 PM

I mean she is the 'global icon' but not the international female of the year... the Brits don't make sense at all sometimes?

Also how did Billie Ellish qualify when she won last year? Melanie C couldn't be nominated twice and potentially lost out on an award after a very successful year 2000 for that reason.

Posted by: London 12th May 2021, 08:31 PM

Why, what happened in the IHeart Radio Awards???

the actual worst cry.gif Basically Taylor had been teasing random cryptic posts on instagram from like mid-late Feb to mid-March. Most of them looking like a countdown leading up to iheart music awards 2019 (7 of one thing in one post, 6 of one things in next post). THE 5 HOLES IN THE FENCE argh, still haunts me to this day (you can probs see more online about that one laugh.gif). Literally the entire fandom was convinced she was either dropping the lead or at worst, announcing it was out on Friday. The day of iHeart we got another cryptic post, people started thinking Taylor & Kacey Musgraves were performing together (as she posted a similar pic, tho obvs that wasn't gonna happen as they don't get on), there was something else.

And then the actual ceremony happened and literally the only thing that happened was Taylor saying something like new music is coming soon. and then any kinda countdown through her continued posting stopped for a month after that night laugh.gif

(and if she dropped that week, the bish would've avoided old town road and got another US #1 ffs) kink.gif

Posted by: London 16th May 2021, 07:32 PM

Oh wowzers... thanks for explaining nono.gif laugh.gif Naughty Taylor
