Lesley Roy has just been confirmed to be back More details (and possibly the first play?) of the song are coming early in the new year but the guy who produced it was also behind "She Got Me" and Melfest entries "All The Feels" and "Talking In My Sleep" so hopefully this matches the same standard as those tracks..
That's a good precedent of songs there! The HoD has described it as 'catchy' as well so should still be something relatively boppy.
Hopefully its good, i seen a piece in todays sun about it saying more information would be released in January.
Liam Reilly who represented Ireland in 1990 with the brilliant Sonewhere in Europe coming 2nd to Italy sadly passed away suddenly yesterday. RIP Liam.
Lesley is unleashing "Maps" on us next Friday!
I'm looking forward to hearing it.
This sounds more competitive than Story Of My Life. The production is much more modern and dramatic, and I love the strings. The chorus is strong too, and this will be joining my current top five in short order.
Very good! I liked Story Of My Life more because that was very late 00s which was an era I loved but it was never going to do well, I think this could actually. I’m really impressed!
First listen - this is ok.
Second listen - eugh, I'm getting bored.
Third listen - wow. My new 1st place.
The opening strings remind me of the post card music from one of the mid-10s contests.
"Story of My Life" is only one ESC song, which I like from 2020 line-up.
Fresh entry sounds too modern for me.
Better than last years entry but then so was a sledgehammer to the balls. This feels much more accomplished but the immediacy isn’t there. Juries could get it over the line and/or they could juxtapose it with staging to tell the story?
I LOVE this!!! She could make this very anthemic with the live performance, especially during the build-up to the last chorus.
She performed on Irish TV. She mimed. Not sure why she would do that.
I prefer story of my life based on first few listens maps doesnt have a stand out chorus for me, on first few listens I think we will struggle to qualify but staging could play it's part.
There has been widespread and overwhelmingly positive reaction to this song. It is being almost universally hailed as better than Story of My Life. I've even seen 3 men get emotional about it in the vast array of reaction videos in YouTube. My point is that it has a much better chance of qualifying than Story of My Life (which I love and is in my top 10 of 2020)
I prefer Story Of My Life, similarly to Liam that late 00s sound is something I’m still a big fan of, but this also sounds very good. The last minute is fab.
This is solid but I’m in the minority (although the split feels a bit more balanced in this thread) that prefer “Story of my Life” as I just enjoy that sound more and it was in my top 10 of last year. But it’s not as much of a downgrade for me as Eden or Victoria, I think after more listens they will settle at a similar level in more affections.
I think id like it more if could differentiate the verses from the chorus as I find it all blends into one.
Over the last 12 months, I've been watching a lot of reaction videos to songs - mostly from the last few years but certainly a lot from 2020 and 2021.
I've never seen so many reviewers get emotional when reacting to a song as I have with this one. Some of these are quite established Eurovision bloggers.
First listen and this sounds pretty strong to me - instantly likeable, could imagine this doing very well indeed
Its starting to stick in my head now after a few listens.
I've overplayed it now. It's stating to lose its shine.
It seems to be getting a more positive reaction than any Irish entry has got in a long time.
This is lovely! Very instant and likable. GO IRELAND *.*
Qualifying would be great, not sure what would happen after that but i think Lesley would be over the moon if she can even just qualified and flopped at the final.
Maps made its chart debut in Ireland this week at number 76.
Glad I'm not the only one although it is growing on me.
This seems to be the most popular Irish entry based on online comments for some time, im still finding it hard to predict whether it will qualify or not, some of the online positivity gives me good hope though.
Really hoping this somewhat dark horses itself into the top 10! It's just so feel good.
Looking at some of the odds on who will make semi final 1 tomorrow night Ireland seem to be complete outsiders to quallify im hoping we can qualify as i think its not a bad song and they seem to really have put the effort into good staging aswell.
