Kojo Funds feat. RAYE Check - Chart Run NE (15/02/2018) | 33-32-30 Information Released: 2nd February 2018 Label: Atlantic Records UK Chart sales: 30k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 71 Sales 42 Streaming Video Biography Kojo Funds emerged amid a number of rap artists mixing Afro-swing, dancehall, and R&B in the late 2010s. He was born and raised in East London -- an area that also produced Dizzee Rascal, Kano, and Wiley -- but was also of Ghanaian and Dominican Republic heritage, and African and Caribbean influences would later influence his work. Kojo's music career began in 2014 when he started freestyling with friends, and their encouragement led him to take his musical aspirations seriously. His first track, "Want from Me," was released in 2014 and featured his melodic rap style as well as demonstrating the impact of dancehall on his music. In 2016, Kojo released the track that would prove to be his big break. He collaborated on "Dun Talkin'" with Abra Cadabra, and it won the Mobo 2016 Best Song Award. - iTunes Top 100 Chart History Kojo Funds 2017 08 Finders Keepers (Mabel feat. Very much a slow week for the charts and I am not keen on any of the entries. Jorja has potential but Let Me Down is a bit of an ahem letdown.
The Hailee song is okay but nothing I'll revisit of my own accord. And you probably know my thoughts on the Zedd atrocity. |

Thought "Check" would be climbing quicker than this. I thought it was a potential number 1 when I first heard it

Steel Banglez feat. Yungen, MoStack, Mr Eazi & Not3s Bad - Chart Run NE (07/12/2017) | 53-50-66-66-78-44-37-33-30-30-29-29-29 Information Released: 24th November 2017 Label: Gifted Music Chart sales: 100k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 58 Sales 33 Streaming Video Biography Born and raised in Forest Gate, East London, British hip-hop producer, songwriter, and DJ Steel Banglez's first steps into music came when his mother taught him how to play various classical Indian instruments at a young age. Picking up the music bug, Banglez was then taught how to DJ by his older brother before immersing himself in the then-growing grime and U.K. garage scenes, regularly appearing on local pirate radio stations. After studying music production and audio engineering at London's SAE -- and finding himself serving time behind bars -- Banglez started producing for local talent, making a name for himself with tracks for the likes of Ghetts and Yung Meth, Wiley, and P Money. Banglez set himself apart from the standard grime production of the time, bringing in samples from Bollywood films, Jamaican dub, and Chinese music. After contacting Birmingham-based MC MIST via social media, Banglez hooked up with the vocalist to record the M.I.S. to the T EP in 2016. The standout track "Karlas Back" helped propel his production work into the spotlight. At the beginning of 2017 he issued the single Money -- which featured guest spots from the likes of MoStack, Abra Cadabra, Haile, and MIST -- while also signing a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell. A few months later, Banglez released "Bad," which saw him once again teaming up with MoStack, as well as Not3s, Yungen, and Mr Eazi. By year's end, the single reached number 50 on the U.K. pop chart. - iTunes Top 100 Chart History Steel Banglez 2017 29 Bad (Steel Banglez feat. How do artists like Bazzi take off when they've never had a hit here before? Do the record companies just pay to get Spotify to promo them? Or are they huge in other countries?
It's an ok track but not much different? |
