I know it's not quite a fair comparison, but it should be an interesting one.
I wasn't sure which TT single to choose, so I opted for their latest no 1, so they would be pretty much from around the same era. This post has been edited by milly: Aug 11 2016, 03:27 PM |

I like both songs but LMG edges it for me, although I expect most people will go with TD.

'Let Me Go' is torture for me, but I really like 'These Days'.

So, Let Me Go has 3 votes so far and These Days 1 vote.
But I'm expecting more people to choose TD, too. I'd just like to know if the choice is influenced by people's feelings towards Gary. I, for one, when it comes to certain Mark songs, can't truly say whether I dislike the song for itself or for the fact that Mark is singing it and I imagine it's the same with those who don't particularly like Gary. |

I try to temper my feelings for Mark's voice with an objective assessment of his songs. He is a talented song writer and has written some great songs. However, like you Milly I sometimes struggle to separate the two, although in the case of Babe I actually hate the song as well as the vocals.
I'm sure some people dislike LMG because they don't like Gary or his vocals. Then again he is the dominant force on TD so it may simply be based on the song itself. One of the reasons I chose LMG over TD was based on hearing both live. I think LMG comes across as a stronger song in a live situation than TD does. |

I chose LMG over TD, because, for me, it was instant love with the track, whereas, with TD, it took me a while till it grew on me.
I had been so nervous about Gary's first solo release in so many years and, when I heard LMG, I calmed down, cause it sounded so mature and catchy at the same time. And then, it has its own story, that's more poignant than These Days's. It's a funny thing with some TT fans, from what I noticed. Some of them are not particularly bothered that Gary has most leads in TT and they have no problems enjoying those songs, whereas, as soon as he goes solo, they dislike whatever he does. |

I was the same, Milly. However, I was nervous for what TTIII would sound like...these days put my mind off rest straight away

I love both these tracks but both are so different, I would love to see Take That try the sound of let it go further on the next album.

Yes, definitely! Would love to hear TT do LMG. Backing vocals would be great. 4 minute warning would be great too

I can't say I'd want to hear TT sing LMG, it's just too personal and it would feel wrong for somebody else to interfere in it.

I find 'Let Me Go' to be pretty bland, whilst 'These Days' is one of Take That's best songs so an easy choice really!

I don't get the love for TD. IMO it doesn't come close to TT's best work. It's a catchy pop song and enjoyable to listen to, but no more than that. Although I really like LMG, again it's far from Gary's best work and isn't anywhere near the quality of songs such as Forever Love.

Let Me Go for me.
These Days is ok but not a Take That classic. Good but not great. |

I love These Days and still enjoy it to this day, yes they have better songs than it but they also have so much worse. I think These Days would slip into my top 0 favourite ten songs.

When they released These Days, I was a bit baffled, as it seemed a bit chaotic to me. Now, I must admit I enjoy hearing it a lot, more than some of their classics. I don't know what it is about it, but it's joyful and full of hope.
Aww, Dylan...I absolutely love Forever Love (and I want it to be my wedding song, although I know many find it syrupy), but I adore LMG as well, it's just one of those songs that get stuck in your head, plus it has a story to tell. |

First time I heard These Days I was delighted. I really wanted an upbeat, radio friendly song and they delivered.
The next lead single will find it hard to replicate the airtime and charting. With the streaming fiasco in full force, I doubt it'll make top 30 if it's not handled properly (especially seeing as TT traditionally don't climb after the first week) |
