BJSC 85 Debut: Brechtoria

Brechtoria, with its capital city of Artaudina has finally decided to join the BJSC. Having been a member since the inception of the contest, but having never entered - our leader Stanis Lavski, finally felt that it was time for us to join the contest. We hope you enjoy our debut entrant.

We walk around all we hear is the sound of our lonely heartbeats.

Hello there Brechtoria hi.gif excited for your debut~

Posted by: Bradders Jun 7 2016, 05:16 PM

Thank you, just had a tweak of song - same band, any feedback would be greatly appreciated for a first entrant!

Posted by: Mdh Jun 7 2016, 05:16 PM

Oh my this is really good heart.gif Similar to mine actually, a bit of upbeat indie pop (if you don't mind me spilling heehee.gif) I shall more than likely be giving this a lot of love in the proper competition and I think it could do very well!

Posted by: Bradders Jun 7 2016, 05:18 PM

Thank you so much, I would love to qualify first time around! Can't wait to hear all of yours smile.gif

Everyone's been so welcoming!

We qualified in our debut tournament cheer.gif cheer.gif cheer.gif

Thank you everyone for your support. It was great to see mdh qualify for the first time as well, and some absolute gems in my semi that I'm pleased are through.

We are performing LAST in the final - not sure if that's a good thing for BJSC, it certainly isn't for ESC. So fingers crossed we leave a lasting impression to change the minds of those who feel they have already decided.

I will update this post soon with full details soon.

Congrats! #BrecHelnia85 to take on the final now.

I tend to find that polarising instrumentals often do well, as long as the people who like it *really* like it (i.e. Aide and Free Tibet, two winners from this year (although technically they're not instrumentals, there's only a bit of vocals in them))

I say this without having any idea of what you are going to send of course.

I have a strange feeling that I'm going to be pointing Brechtoria often dance.gif

Posted by: Bradders Jul 2 2016, 03:46 PM

Thanks for the advice DanG - appreciate it!

I'm not sure about the constant points, going for a VERY different choice this time!

Posted by: Bradders Jul 4 2016, 06:29 PM

I pm'd smile.gif

We have now confirmed for BJSC 86 - a Hungarian instrumtal! Hoping for a Top 20 this time!

Tease to follow...

Posted by: Bradders Jul 12 2016, 10:49 AM

Listen below to our second entry!

I hope you like it - there doesn't seem to be any mention of it anywhere at the minute, so hopefully some of you are interested and we can gain some hype.

Starting to think the chances of Q in my first two contests is slim to zero.

BJSC Spin Off: Reinvention

Project T

Posted by: memedh Jul 17 2016, 12:40 PM

Hyping your main entry, pretty sure it'll qualify - it has some points support from me at least wink.gif

Posted by: danG Jul 17 2016, 10:38 PM

eeeeeeek.

really think this was wrong semi syndrome, I thought Mambosa was great and would've gave it 10 points if I could have voted in your semi.

already know n love Project T too good luck with that !

Posted by: Bradders Jul 18 2016, 06:23 AM

Thanks guys, no bother. Always next time!

Posted by: Bradders Jul 25 2016, 02:19 PM

My two main potentials. Any help greatly appreciated...

High Tyde - Do What You Want // a song I love - not sure how it will go down in BJSC?

Dannic feat. Airto - Light The Sky // a song I enjoy, maybe too generic?

Glades - Her (Loving You) // really like this

A R I Z O N A - Where I Wanna Be // this is awesome too!

Posted by: meme Jul 25 2016, 03:27 PM

YAY @ bands with a y instead of an i in their name tongue.gif

Touch The Sky is the best one though wub.gif

Posted by: memebury. Jul 25 2016, 06:12 PM

Male rock isn't normally my goto in music generally but that example sounds quite good, could do well if it gets the support from the rock bloc? I can never really predict how well rock (or any genre tbf) does though

The second one is dance and I quite enjoy it though obviously heehee.gif it's possible others will see it as "generic" though, but see what other people say first happy.gif

Posted by: Bré Jul 25 2016, 09:35 PM

I like 'Do What You Want', reminds me a bit of The 1975 (when they were good anyway)! The second song does sound a little bit generic for my tastes tongue.gif but it's not bad.

(really like 'Project T' by the way, a lovely choice of sample)

Posted by: HarryEzra Jul 26 2016, 01:17 AM

The first song I can see doing better than the second, It could appeal to the rock bloc of the contest whereas the other song although nice and good production but I think it is a bit generic and wont reach out as much as first potential could. Well technically both potentials would only appeal to certain people but I think High Tyde has more chance imo.

Posted by: Bradders Jul 26 2016, 08:50 AM

Thanks so much for your help everyone - I've added another potential above as well!

Think this one has a bit more BJSC appeal, but I'm still fairly new so not 100%

Posted by: Bré Jul 26 2016, 03:23 PM

High Tyde is still by far the best of these IMO! 'Her (Loving You)' is good as well though.

Posted by: Bradders Aug 5 2016, 01:24 PM

Anymore feedback would be great.

Also, thank you for all your votes in BJSC Reinvention - we managed to break the Top 20, something we would love to do in BJSC 87, so any help appreciated.

I have submitted one of the tracks above, but if some feedback were to change that I wouldn't mind making a change tonight - at a wedding tomorrow!

Posted by: mdh Aug 6 2016, 08:29 AM

That A R I Z O N A track is my favourite of yours since the start wub.gif

Posted by: Bradders Aug 8 2016, 08:46 AM

Didn't see your response as I was out on Saturday unsure.gif sad.gif

Posted by: mdh Aug 8 2016, 08:51 AM

No worries aha, will give the GLADES track a listen in the car later - if the capitalized band name is anything to go by I think I'll be pleasantly impressed with your entry happy.gif

Posted by: Bradders Aug 15 2016, 10:06 AM

ARGH! GLADES made the final!!! So surprised!

Posted by: Bradders Aug 23 2016, 01:47 PM

38th in the final wth GLADES - considering we didn't think we would make the final I'm happy.

However; a NEW more confident Brechtoria now greets BJSC88.

I'm here to snatch weaves/wigs/toupees/actual hair from all of y'all!

Brechtoria have opted for country in BJSC88, 88 is a special number in this great country and our civilians are extremely excited about entering the contest.

This is our great leader, Stanis Lavski, favourite song, and it has been requested that our national radio station through the Brechtoria Broadcasting Company play the song at least once an hour.

Upon the reveal of the semi, Stanis could be seen throwing quite the tantrum as two big country supporters are in the opposite semi final. An evening of public rioting took place throughout the streets last night, and we are currently unaware of the state of the nations capital, Artaudina.

Stay safe, Brechtoria.

Brechtoria Press Release

Stanis Lavski, president of Brechtoria, would like to thank everyone for their votes. Here in our great country we are used to zero hype, but we are still hopeful for a good result.
