The people of Pagasa would like to formally plant our stake in the BJSC soil with our own national thread!
THE UNITED PEOPLES' REPUBLIC OF PAGASA [flag to come] Capital: Nuevatera D'Esperansa Population: 3,082,390 Languages: Pagasense, Inganyol Demonym: Pagasano President: Pulita Torres Description: The fledgling nation of Pagasa sits on what was once a deserted archipelago that harbored almost no life until it was transformed by a group of refugees and outcasts searching for a new home. After welcoming many subsequent waves of migration, Pagasa has grown and continues to grow tremendously, and it stands today as a symbol of hope for anyone in need of a new beginning. ~ Entries: 82: KING – The Greatest [#30] 83: The Range – Florida [DNQ] 90: Marineros – Torbellino [DNQ] 94: The Blue Nile – The Downtown Lights [DNQ] 127: Kareem Ali – In My Spaceship [DNQ] 128: Ministry – Work for Love [#41] 129: Mariah Angeliq – Perreito [DNQ] 130: Kingdom featuring Syd – Nothin (Club Mix) [#41] This post has been edited by dhweck the halls: 23rd December 2020, 02:44 PM |

BJSC LXXXII
KING – The Greatest I'm taking home the gold. For Pagasa's debut entry, we have decided to trot out "The Greatest", an R&B/synthpop number from the trio KING. This song felt like the perfect debut for us—lush, but like its muse Muhammad Ali, packs a punch all the same and won't go down without a fight. We hope you enjoy! Welcome again from Persephonia! This is a rather excellent debut and one I can see growing even more on further listens! Reminds me a bit of The Internet if you know of them ~

The girls of KING gave it their all, but in the end, Pagasa must settle with 30th place for our debut entry. As much as we Pagasanos hoped to crack at least the top half of the rankings, we are taking our placing in stride and, in all, we consider our BJSC debut to be a success. That said, we are already in the process of scouting talent for the next contest, and we can't wait to show the world what is up our sleeve in Ethanola in April! We would like to thank the following countries for their support: FARC +18 Syndare +18 Trifoski +18 Singerpurear +15 Jukianië +13 Jadakissnia +12 Espen +11 Deandria +10 Dalisska +9 Federal Republic of Ashton +8 N DNTN +6 Altyr Muunilinst +4 Aeroche +3 This post has been edited by dhwe: 6th March 2016, 03:27 AM |

Aw I wish I would've been able to give it more points! I mean 10 points is very good but it really is a fantastic entry It grew on me a lot since the semis as well where I think I only gave it 2 points or something. I have such a good feeling that you're gonna have plenty of interesting entries up your sleeve in future

Yeah, I think the song might've been a grower for a couple people. I think it was also a matter of Semi 2 being really strong; I came 12th in Semi 1 but dropped all the way down to 30th for the Final. Oh well. Thanks a lot for the 10 points, happy to hear you like the song

BJSC MOVIES
Q Lazzarus – Goodbye Horses I've seen my hopes and dreams a-lying on the ground. For the BJSC Movies spin-off, we have decided to send "Goodbye Horses", a 1988 song by Q Lazzarus that was used perhaps most prominently in The Silence of the Lambs during Buffalo Bill's dance scene. Not much is known about Q, and her releases were scarce, but this song has become her signature hit thanks to its use in various films*. We hope you enjoy the song, and don't forget to vote! (*Disclosure: This Pagasano representative has never seen any of the films in question, but discovered the song when he was 16 and fell in love with it immediately. He was amazed that an artist could release such a gem and virtually nothing else afterward.) (Further disclosure: This song has been entered in UP before but it's allowed so w/e) This post has been edited by dhwe: 7th March 2016, 04:45 AM |

We finish the BJSC Movies spin-off at #32, a rather disappointing result. Although "Goodbye Horses" is a beloved song among Pagasanos, we have concluded that it was too low-key for this contest and, in the end, it got lost among all the other tracks that more clearly screamed "soundtrack song". However, we still got a fair few votes, including one 18! We would like to thank the following countries for their support: Quintessa +18 Suedeonia +13 Mulgracia +10 Jadakissnia +7 Ethanola +6 Ojnoj +3 Altyr Muunilinst +2 D'yermak'er +1 Hushkanukia +1 Syndare +1 The Pagasano BJSC Committee has decided that we will sit out the BJSC 10th anniversary one-off, but we'll be back in April for BJSC 83 with something that we think will go down quite well. See you there! |
