Aren't the dance-pop entries going to cancel each other out? Aren't the indie-pop ballady entries going to cancel each other out? Same principle. (except two of those songs are probably more similar than my entry is to Manamoo (which is a Paramore vs Girls Aloud like comparison), for example, so kind of even more pronounced)
Cancelling out is something that rarely is a thing in BJSC because people don't have quotas of genres they vote for, if they like two similar songs they give high points to both of them and both do well. |

though there was that one contest where my semi was wall-to-wall bland dancepop and I got so sick of 'em I reacted and gave preference to non-dance just for being different...so did others and the result was a dance bloodbath. The next contest was noticeably less-dance-oriented

I know personally that I do try to vary the genres that I vote for, If I have to cut down my votes I'll usually remove songs that are of a similar genre so that I end up with a variety
