Rasmussen Higher Ground - Chart Statistics NE (19/05/2018) | 5-1-1-1-2-2-4-4-7-9-16-37-56-72-85-88-xx Video Commentary And here is our highest Eurovision entry, and the only real one with any longevity (in its last week in the Top 10 there were no other Eurovision songs in the Top 40). I didn't think that much of this on first play (like pretty much every slow song I've mentioned in this countdown) but on the replay this really caught my attention. It's the sort of slow melodic piece I love, but with Vikings!!! Ooh and it looks like Rasmussen released another song last week so I better check that out. didn't get much replay value out of that but it was one of the better eurovision performances for sure.

Tom Odell If You Wanna Love Somebody - Chart Statistics NE (23/06/2018) | 19-9-2-2-1-3-4-7-11-13-16-20-32-45-55-78-88-91-xx Video Commentary DON'T SWEAR TOM, IT DOESN'T SUIT YOU. Anyway, this era from Mr. Odell hasn't been as consistent as the last one but this uplifting piece was a real solid start to it, and got him his first #1 in my chart. For a while I thought it might not get there, sandwiched between Toast To Our Differences and Sweat (A La La La Long) but it did manage to sneak a week thankfully, as I'll remember this much more that I'll remember Sweat. I just love the happiness and piano-ny-ness (that's a word now) in this song! I find incredible that an Eurovision entry spent 3 weeks at number 1 on your chart. Are you ready for this year's Eurovision?
Tom Odell just needs a pop banger or work with Drake, Ed Sheeran or Ariana Grande. He is underrated. |

Yeah, I mean I go into Eurovision with the intent of finding new music for my playlist so this was perfect for me! Thanks Dan! I find incredible that an Eurovision entry spent 3 weeks at number 1 on your chart. Are you ready for this year's Eurovision? Tom Odell just needs a pop banger or work with Drake, Ed Sheeran or Ariana Grande. He is underrated. There's still months to go until Eurovision isn't there? I don't listen to any of the songs until the final so its still a way off for me! And Tom Odell working with any of those artists would be a car crash Thanks Jason! |

Ofenbach Paradise (ft. Benjamin Ingrosso) - Chart Statistics NE (09/09/2018) | 62-42-18-3-1-1-2-3-8-10-15-22-28-39-58-73-66-59-57-68-... Video Commentary One of the rare #1s to spend more than two weeks outside the Top 40 before entering, but it still didn't take very long for it to nab the top spot. I loved Ofenbach from Be Mine and Katchi, and initially really loved the instrumentals from the pair. What put me off initially though was Mr. Ingrosso - I mean he feels so smug all the time and his Eurovision performance was pretty atrocious. After a few listens though, the vocals became the highlight of the song, and is untimately what got them to #1. Still think Benjamin is smug though. The Fratellis Starcrossed Losers - Chart Statistics NE (03/03/2018) | 14-2-1-1-4-5-7-10-17-22-29-50-60-85-83-100-xx Video Commentary Another of the mass of 00s indie bands who seemed to orchestrate their return in 2018 here, we have the wonderful Fratellis. What's interesting about this though is that it sounds absolutely nothing like what they used to (in fact most of the album is more reminiscent of Scissor Sisters), it's something completely new and refreshing and for that reason it took me a bit to get into it as it's not a sound I'm that used to. But after a few weeks, it was one of my favourites and ended up as one of the highest comeback artists this year. Top 100 Chart History 2018 01 Starcrossed Losers 2018 13 I Guess... Vance Joy We're Going Home - Chart Statistics NE (13/01/2018) | 12-5-1-1-3-8-9-12-26-36-57-80-71-86-91-92-xx Video Commentary And just missing the top 10 we have Vance Joy. Which I'm quite sad about really, as this is a beautiful and uplifting song that hasn't left my head all year (mainly because I've gone 'home' lots of times this year ). It's chart run doesn't remotely express how much I love this song, and it makes me upset that I can't give this any more than my allocated 300 points because I'm sure it'll be up in the Top 5 when it comes to Reshuffle. But rules be rules, and here it is. If you haven't heard this song you honestly don't know what you're missing out on. Very unpredictable top 10, just guessing Lukas Graham could win.
Mahmut Orhan and Owl City songs are my faves from this top 10 list though. |

I enjoyed "Turn", but I prefer "Cheetah Tongue" as my Wombats song of the year.
"Love Someone" has really grown on me, such a great song! AJR... I have a hate relationship with them. I can't like either of their songs. But I love "Body Talks", the Kesha version makes it even better! And finally "Higher Ground" is such a powerful song! Really enjoyed it! Thanks Joseph IKEA Episodes *____* a rather bizarre bjsc song, i love when those spring up. great to see Drones Club in there too IKEA Episodes was amazing! Really disappointed it didn't make the final Thanks Seven! Very unpredictable top 10, just guessing Lukas Graham could win. Mahmut Orhan and Owl City songs are my faves from this top 10 list though. Lukas Graham Not a Damn Thing Changed - Chart Statistics NE (20/10/2018) | 4-5-1-1-2-3-3-5-9-21-24-36-51-58-... Video Commentary So to the surprise of half of Buzzjack and the expectations of the other half, Lukas Graham aren't #1! After their lovey-dovey first single, this very quickly followed it up with one of Lukas' more hard-hitting tracks. I wasn't actually planning on giving this the #1 initially, more of a long-running Top 10 hit, but when the album came out it just felt right. And whilst this is still so high up, I do have to say that it doesn't compete with their last album sadly, and no song could match 7 Years. They've also released a cover of an XXXTENTACION song today, yuck. Top 100 Chart History 2016 01 7 Years 2016 09 Golden (Brandon Beal ft. Built By Titan Broken Love (ft. Starxs) - Chart Statistics NE (10/03/2018) | 75-50-20-19-10-8-7-6-5-4-8-15-19-27-31-39-56-62-67-100-xx RE (11/08/2018) | 95-xx Video Commentary And next up is my BJSC winner, Broken Love. I'm still astounded this won - obviously it's a song that I love but that usually results in a complete flop in these contests - you only need to look as far as Royce Lovett or anything I've sent to Club Bizarre to confirm that It took me a while to finally decide to chart this, and I only really entered it on a whim having had no other real potentials. Of course then it won by the biggest margin we had all year, which completely took me by surprise as it doesn't feel like it has any of the ingredients of a BJSC winner. Anyway, this song is amazing and I'm sure most of you know it so you've got no excuse not to comment (oh and the week it fell from 67 to 100 there were 21 new entries in the chart so don't think I'd introduced some crazy new rule or anything!) Suzi Island Show Me The Way - Chart Statistics NE (21/07/2018) | 18-13-7-3-3-5-5-6-8-14-19-31-39-46-52-60-71-67-70-82-84-87-xx RE (29/12/2018) | 88-82-78-81-... Video Commentary Speaking of those 21 new entries that week, this was one of them! You might be surprised that Built By Titan isn't the highest Niceland BJSC entry (there's actually two more artists to come that I discovered through BJSC) but this song is just amazing. On first listen I did think it was a bit odd, but by the end of the song I was absolutely loving it and couldn't wait to get it on my playlist. Sadly most of Buzzjack didn't share that love, but unlike a few of my BJSC DNQs I was completely behind this and still absolutely love it. The video is certainly strange though - I mean what's the purpose of the woman with the goldfish bowl appearing in the second verse if she just walks away again and all he has to do to get it off is to get his bandmate to pull hard enough? Broken Love was a great find, glad it was your winner anyhow as it's your best entry yet. Not too surprised at it not being your highest BJSC entry here though, as it's often the case for me too that my most successful entry isn't my absolute fave.
