I think Mudbound and Call Me By Your Name are the films with the most early hype from festivals etc. Gary Oldman seems to have undergone a huge transformation in his film and is probably deserving of an Oscar by now. I also think this year seems to be the return of Michelle Pfeiffer and supporting actress seems her best shot for a win with either Mother! or Murder On the Orient Express (she's getting great reviews for Where Is Kyra? too). Kirsten Dunst also seems to be going all out this year and perhaps could do what Alicia Vikander could not and get nominations in both actress categories for The Beguiled and Woodshock.

Posted by: Qween Mar 6 2017, 04:22 PM

I really want Glenn to get an Oscar, she's been so good in so many things over the years even a career one feels overdue.

Posted by: UltraGreenLight Mar 6 2017, 04:24 PM

Will be making my full predictions later tonight!

Really hope Saoirse/Emma can get nominations, so hyped for their projects and love both actresses! <3

Posted by: Regina Mar 6 2017, 05:08 PM

Here for Jessica getting a win. Amy doesn't seem to have any movies on the horizon so I'll let my third fave ginger win.

Posted by: Josh. Mar 13 2017, 09:09 AM

Looks as though Spielberg's film this year could be The Post (about the Washington Post's role in revealing the Pentagon Papers) with Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks rather than the Edgardo Mortara film which seems to be pushed back. Surely they should both be locks for nominations but Tom Hanks does seem to be have been snubbed a fair few times in recent years (Captain Phillips, Bridge of Spies, Sully, Saving Mr Banks etc).

Nothing would make me happier. Kirsten is one of Hollywood's most underrated actresses, her role in Melencholia deserved a nomination (even a win) and she's just been amazing in everything. Her role on Fargo was also world class last year, and Gaga beating her to the Golden Globe was a very odd moment. I would feel genuinely emotional if Kirsten managed even a nomination at some point.

Posted by: UltraGreenLight Mar 14 2017, 07:10 PM

Will be posting my predictions later tonight or tomorrow! Get hyped!

Posted by: Josh. Mar 14 2017, 07:28 PM

How amazing would a Meryl Streep vs Rooney Mara vs Jessica Chastain vs Saoirse Ronan vs Judi Dench Best Actress category be?!?

Or Tom Hanks vs Hugh Jackman vs Gary Oldman vs Daniel Day-Lewis vs Matt Damon ?!?

Or Kristen Wiig vs Michelle Williams vs Julianne Moore vs Naomi Watts vs Michelle Pfeiffer ?!?

I know that some of these are going to end up terrible and there will be shock indie frontrunners come the time of awards season but you can't not look at the lists above and just get RIDICULOUSLY excited for this year in film heart.gif

Posted by: Josh. Mar 19 2017, 09:21 PM

'The Disaster Artist' (about Tommy Wiseau and the making of the film 'The Room') seems to be getting pretty good reviews coming out of SXSW. Perhaps, James Franco could be a dark horse to get a second nomination?

Posted by: Josh. Mar 22 2017, 08:15 AM

"Battle of the Sexes" has been given a US release date in September, doesn't bode well for its box office or Oscars chances (but of course, films have swept nominations with earlier release dates before). Saying that, it does star Emma Stone and Steve Carrell as well as having the directors of Little Miss Sunshine, the writer of Slumdog Millionaire & 127 Hours, the cinematographer of La La Land, and the composer from Moonlight!

Also, "Beauty and the Beast" has been screening to Oscar voters and been getting a good response apparently, perhaps Disney are hoping for a few nominations too!

Posted by: Josh. Mar 24 2017, 11:18 AM

I've updated the opening post with a few more of the contenders that have been discussed so far. I've also added links to the the Buzzjack discussion threads for those that have them already so hopefully this be handy biggrin.gif

Posted by: Qween Mar 24 2017, 02:22 PM

BATB will probably get costume, make up, maybe score? That kind of thing anyway, it certainly looks and sounds great at any rate.

Yeah, I was thinking that other day that it could end up with four or five nominations which would be pretty fab (I think costume and make-up are quite likely as well as production design and visual effects perhaps too. I imagine it'll get one or two song nominations too which would be fab (I think "Evermore" is already a lock and maybe the Celine Dion song!). I wonder if it'll be eligible for score though as a lot of it is borrowed from the original, I know Arrival's score was disqualified last year for borrowing one song which many voters may not have known was not original which may have unfairly swayed the votes. ohmy.gif

Also, starting to think that Get Out could sneak an Original Screenplay nom a la The Lobster/Ex Machina!

Posted by: Regina Mar 25 2017, 07:36 PM

Amy is obv going for the Emmy this year with Sharp Objects, unless she gets nominated for Justice League kink.gif

Is it asking too much for Chris Evans to get some attention and glory for Gifted? sad.gif he's an underrated actor and that movie looks great.

Posted by: UltraGreenLight Mar 25 2017, 07:41 PM

Thank You For Your Service (starring Miles Teller & Amy Schumer) has received an awards contention release date at the end of October! Definitely a film I'm hyped for and I wonder if it could become an Oscar contender as the story definitely sounds like it has potential!

(And I promise I'll do my early predictions tonight!!)

Posted by: J♀sh Apr 9 2017, 08:35 PM

Annihilation by Alex Garland (the guy behind Ex Machina) and starring Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Tessa Thompson has been delayed until 2018. Perhaps they're trying to repeat its success by getting rave reviews early on and managing to pick up a couple of Oscar nods by the time awards season comes around.

You weren't lying when you said in-depth, Sam! laugh.gif I think Dunkirk could be the big blockbuster nominee this year like Life of Pi/Avatar etc. I'd love Carrie Fisher and/or Mark Hammill to sneak noms too but it seems as though it could be a really strong year.

I also reckon Breathe could perhaps be this year's The Theory of Everything. Claire Foy is hot off The Crown and Andrew Garfield from Hacksaw Ridge so I think they could be contenders come awards season! Will add it to the opening post.

Posted by: J▲hq Apr 13 2017, 11:07 PM

Academy Award nominee Zac Efron would sound really weird, but it happened for James Franco and Jonah Hill laugh.gif

TWO times as well! I was talking to my Dad the other day about who we would pick as winners in each year and Jonah Hill was his favourite choice in both years as he was nominated. I was like good job you don't run the Oscars :') Imagine two-time Academy Award Winner 'Jonah Hill! laugh.gif

More films zooming into Oscar season:

Goodbye Christopher Robin has a VERY Awards friendly date of November 10! Really hope this can become a big Awards contender, it sounds like it could be rly great like Saving Mr Banks was & Margot/Domnhall are fabulous and both deserve to get some big awards attention! <3
Three Billboards has also been scheduled for 13th October!

I'll update mine towards the end of the month after the Cannes Festival as I was doing it now and making literally no changes to over half the categories since I last predicted!

I have a really good feeling about The Greatest Showman though atm!

Have taken 'Tully' (the Charlize Theron movie directed by Jason Reitman of Juno & Up in the Air fame) off the list in the opening post as it has been given an April 2018 release date so not this year anyway and doesn't seem like it's going to be pushed for awards either laugh.gif

Quite sad about that one, was looking forward to it and was hoping Theron may be in contention for a third nomination after the good couple of years she's had (she's been fab in all of Mad Max, Furious 8, The Huntsman etc. in my opinion)!

EDIT: Also added a few more potential contenders including Lean On Pete (potentially Steve Buscemi could be nominated and other major nominations), A Fantastic Woman (potentially Daniela Vega could be nominated) & Novitiate (potentially Melissa Leo could be nominated).

Was literally just coming her to post about Tully! Will remove it from my predictions when I update them!

Wonderstruck also has been scheduled for the Awards friendly date of October 20th!

Same release week as Moonlight and Birdman had in previous years! Please tell me this is going to be massive. Todd Haynes needs a director win after the Carol snubs in Director & Picture plus I really want Julianne Moore to get that sixth nomination to add to her legacy *-* This is one of my most hyped movies for awards season, really want to read the book too!

Posted by: ~josh~ May 6 2017, 07:36 AM

In others release date news, The Glass Castle is going to be released on August 11 in the US. Not the most awards friendly release date ever so I'll probably remove it from my predictions now but tbh, it is the same release date as Hell or High Water from last year so you never know!

O.M.F.G.

I am ready.

Posted by: ~josh~ May 14 2017, 07:04 PM

I hope Mother wins all the Oscars tbh if it's anything like Black Swan. Anyway, I need JLaw to get her fifth nom and Javier Bardem/Michelle Pfeiffer to get their fourth for it!!!11

Posted by: Regina May 14 2017, 07:12 PM

NO TO JLAW. Down with the she devil.

Posted by: ~josh~ May 16 2017, 07:30 AM

Probably an out-there prediction but The Disaster Artist has now been given a December release date in the US, is distributed by A24 (Moonlight, Room, Ex Machina) and has genuinely good reviews so far. I think it could be a bit of an upset come awards season and I might start putting James Franco in my predictions. It's certainly a transformative role!

First official poster for 'The Killing of the Sacred Deer' from Yorgos Lanthimos (Oscar nominee for The Lobster!). A really nice poster imo and I'm actually really excited for this, I loved how unique and funny The Lobster was.

Posted by: ~josh~ May 16 2017, 05:15 PM

Oooh, the host has been announced which means Jimmy Kimmel will be returning for next year's ceremony! I really liked his opening monologue and thought he dealt with the Best Picture mess-up really well so yay at him being back!

Posted by: UltraGreenLight May 16 2017, 07:25 PM

Fab at Jimmy Kimmell returning, he was surprisingly great last year!

Also John Hurt is not in 'Darkest Hour' so I'll remove him from my predictions when I next update after Cannes!

Didn't realise it was A24 distributing it! Interesting! Been excited for this for a while. I still need to watch that iconic movie all the way through though!

Also big yeeeessss at Jimmy Kimmell returning! wub.gif

Some more stills from potential Oscar nominees next year!

Donald Sutherland & Helen Mirren in The Leisure Seeker:

Hugh Jackman, Zendaya & Zac Efron in The Greatest Showman:

Also, Wonderstruck is getting quite mixed reviews coming out of Cannes Film Festival. Some are saying it's gorgeous but others are saying it's a bit weak :/ Apparently Julianne Moore's role is not very large either :'(

Posted by: UltraGreenLight May 19 2017, 11:19 AM

The Greatest Showman looks FAB. So hyped for that!

Posted by: Khappa MJ May 21 2017, 08:31 AM

Im waiting for Blade Runner ... absolutely

Posted by: ~josh~ May 21 2017, 04:29 PM

It's still a bit unknown how good Netflix are at scoring Oscar noms (they failed with Beasts of No Nation) but The Meyerowitz Stories from Noah Baumbach (Oscar nominee for The Squid & the Whale) is getting good reviews from Cannes too. A lot of the reviews seem to be picking out Adam Sandler as a highlight so he could potentially be an outsider come awards season ohmy.gif The cast also includes Dustin Hoffman, Ben Stiller & Emma Thompson!

Posted by: ~josh~ May 21 2017, 05:46 PM

More distribution news - 'Kings' has been picked up by The Orchard so probably won't be getting any Oscar nominations (they pretty unsuccessfully pushed 'Christine' last year with Rebecca Hall). It's from the Oscar nominated director of Turkish/French film 'Mustang' from 2015 and I'd seen Halle Berry in a few Best Actress predictions but I guess that's quite unlikely if they couldn't push Rebecca Hell to any major nominations!

Also, added The Leisure Seeker & The Meyerowitz Stories to the opening post!

Supporting Actress seems so unpredictable this year so far ! Julianne Moore in Wonderstruck is apparently a very small role, we don't know much about Mother yet or Michelle Pfieffer's role in it, Mudbound is being distributed by Netflix so Mary J. Blige may be a risky bet even if she has great reviews, Michelle Williams/Kristin Scott Thomas seem like they might be coat-tail nominations, Melissa Leo seems to be getting amazing reviews but her film is unlikely to get any more nominations and she doesn't seem like the most obvious choice to get two Oscars already, Millicent Simmonds in Wonderstruck is very young (only 14!). Really could be anyone this year, hard to pick a front-runner! drama.gif

Posted by: ~josh~ May 23 2017, 04:57 PM

These are my post-Cannes nomination predictions (I know it's not over yet but I don't think The Beguiled or You Were Never Really Here are going to get any nominations really. We've heard from all the films with a better chance like Wonderstruck, Sacred Deer, Meyerowitz Stories, Happy End etc. now)!

Excited for some more trailers to drop as I'm not sure that the likes of Woodshock, Battle of the Sexes or The Glass Castle are going to be big contenders really. I'm not so sure on Detroit either but I've put it in for a couple noms off the strength of Kathryn Bigelow's past work.

I feel like Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri will get in somewhere but no idea where to put it? Maybe lead actress but that seems stacked! Or original screenplay a la The Lobster/20th Century Women from last year.

A24 have picked up 'The Florida Project' which looks like it could be pushed this year and is getting fantastic reviews. Willem Dafoe seems to be getting the most mentions with career best rave reviews.

A24's schedule looks so stacked this year (Lean On Pete, Woodshock, The Disaster Artist, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Under the Silver Lake and now this!), will be interesting to see which movies they give the biggest awards push. I imagine either Lean On Pete or this will probably get the late October slot that A24 have utilised for Room and Moonlight in the past.

Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bradley Whitford, and Zach Woods announced as the supporting cast for Spielberg's "The Post" starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks.

First poster for "Goodbye Christopher Robin"

Inner City has been renamed "Roman Isreal, Esq". Bit of an odd film title but still excited to see it, Denzel will probably be a big contender but I'm more excited to see Colin Farrell as the antagonist, hoping he finally gets Oscars attention !!

Also, we got this official image from "The Death and Life of John F. Donovan" which could turn out to be an awards contender. Also stars Natalie Portman, Susan Sarandon and Kathy Bates.

New predictions (in order, this time!) now that we have a few more trailers and bits of news.

BEST PICTURE
1 The Post/The Papers
2 Call Me By Your Name
3 Darkest Hour
4 The Florida Project
5 Wonderstruck
-----
6 Roman Israel, Esq
7 Detroit
8 Last Flag Flying
9 Mother!
10 Get Out

IN -
The Florida Project (seems to be getting great reviews and A24 have to proven to be good at the Oscars with Room & Moonlight)
Last Flag Flying (Linklater is popular with the Oscars and the stills look promising)
Get Out (the hype still seems to be hanging around for this and it could be one of those rare moments when an early release gets lots of nominations)

OUT -
Downsizing (seems to be having trouble getting a final edit and screen reports don't seem all that positive)
Lean On Pete (probably a smaller contender than I first imagine, perhaps just one or teo nominations for the film)
Phantom Thread (seems like it's going to be very dark and The Master wasn't exactly a big awards magnet outside of acting)

BEST ACTOR
1 Gary Oldman "The Darkest Hour"
2 Denzel Washington "Roman Israel, Esq"
3 Daniel Day-Lewis "Phantom Thread"
4 Tom Hanks "The Post/Papers"
5 Bryan Cranston "Last Flag Flying"

IN -
Denzel Washington "Roman Israel, Esq" (seems like a showy role and he probably came second last year so hard to rule him out)

OUT -
Hugh Jackman "The Greatest Showman" (screenings reports aren't exactly favourable and the trailer seems a bit campy)

BEST ACTRESS
1 Meryl Streep "The Papers"
2 Judi Dench "Victoria & Abdul"
3 Kate Winslet "Wonder Wheel"
4 Jennifer Lawrence "Mother!"
5 Daniela Vega "A Fantastic Woman"

IN -
Daniela Vega (the reviews are fantastic for her and being the first transgender acting nominee could be a big moment). Tempted to put in Frances McDormand here too as her role seems pretty exciting.

OUT -
Claire Foy "Breathe" (moved to supporting)

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
1 Willem Dafoe "The Florida Project"
2 Michael Stuhlbarg "Call Me By Your Name"
3 Colin Farrell "Roman Israel, Esq"
4 Steve Buscemi "Lean On Pete"
5 Laurence Fishburne "Last Flag Flying"

IN -
Laurence Fishburne (think this could be a bit of a coat-tail nomination but could happen)
Willem Dafoe (rave reviews and seems like the appropriate time to give him a win on his third nomination)

OUT -
Armie Hammer "Call Me By Your Name" (I don't think two supporting nominees are gonna happen for one movie and Stuhlbarg has the big monologue scene)
Ed Harris "Mother!" (We just know so little about the movie that the other contenders seem more like now, I'd easily put him back in once we get a bit more news though).

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
1 Claire Foy "Breathe"
2 Melissa Leo "Novitiate"
3 Michelle Pfeiffer "Mother!"
4 Millicent Simmonds "Wonderstruck"
5 Holly Hunter "The Big Sick"

IN -
Holly Hunter (seems to getting really good reviews for her performance and I could see her squeezing in)
Millicent Simmonds (Wonderstruck will surely get one acting nomination and it might be her, this category is quite kind to child actresses)
Claire Foy (she looks really good in the trailer but more of a co-lead. Surely the studio will fraud her into here a la Vikander/Mara/Davis as this category is soo much weaker than lead. She could even win but then it would three supportive wife roles winning in a row in this category so maybe not).

OUT -
Michelle Williams "The Greatest Showman" (the film is not getting good screening reports and she didnmt have much to do in the trailer apart from smile)
Kristin Scott Thomas "Darkest Hour" (apparently her role is really small and she has no showy 'Oscars moment' scene)
Nicole Kidman "The Killing of a Sacred Deer" (probably a bit too dark to make it, she probably has a better chance for The Beguiled but the summer release may harm her chances there)

ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
1 The Papers
2 Darkest Hour
3 The Florida Project
4 Roman Israel, Esq
5 Get Out

IN -
The Florida Project (could be a big awards contender so seems like a no brainer here)
Roman Israel (Gilroy is a previous Oscar nominee for Nightcrawler and this looks like it could be his second)
Get Out (the hype isn't fading and it seems like a very probable nominee here even if it doesn't make the Best Picture line up)

OUT -
Downsizing
Mother
The Killing of a Sacred Deer

ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
1 Call Me By Your Name
2 Last Flag Flying
3 Lean On Pete
4 Wonderstruck
5 The Death of Stalin

IN -
The Death of Stalin (don't know much about it but this category seems very weak- I know that a screenplay isn't all about dialogue but having Wonderstruck in 4th despite being largely silent tells a lot about the contenders in this category laugh.gif)

OUT -
Mudbound (Netflix seem to be becoming less popular with old Hollywood and I think any film being distributed by them is going to really struggle to get any nominations...)

Posted by: UltraRedLight Jul 20 2017, 05:31 PM

Venice Film Festival lineup is being revealed next week!

Suburbicon, The Shape Of Water, Victoria & Abdul and Ella & John (I'm presuming this is The Leisure Seekers?) are expected to premiere there and Downsizing is confirmed as the opening night film!

Posted by: Josh! Jul 27 2017, 08:54 AM

Sony Pictures Classics have picked up "Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool". They're really good at campaigning veteran actresses (they got noms/wins for Julianne Moore (Still Alice), Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine) and Isabelle Huppert (Elle) recently) so surely that puts Annette Bening right up there in contention for a nomination, especially after her snub last year. This doesn't look good for Daniela Vega though who was looking like being their #1 push - they also have The Leisure Seeker and Happy End so probably no push for Huppert and Mirren either now.

In other news, Sally Hawkins seems to be getting a bit of backlash for the Shape of Water. A lot of people who speak sign language are calling her out for her sign language not being understandable or very good at all. I was going to put her in my top five as a shock nomination actually but this negative media attention won't help.

Mary Magdalene has been pushed to early 2018 so that pretty much removes all chance it had of doing anything at the Oscars. (I didn't think it would anyway but still!)

Posted by: OzmafaRoxok Aug 28 2017, 09:19 PM

Wife and I laughed at Chris Rocks opening. We thought it was funny. After that we went to bed, because the Oscars show itself doesnt interest us.

Posted by: UltraReputation Sep 3 2017, 04:00 PM

omg Best Actress is nightmarishly competitive this year atm!!! Stone & Hawkins are getting raves and Ronan also seems to be getting fab reviews as well.

I'll be starting my new formatted Sam Prediction thread later tonight which will be looking over the Best Picture & 4 acting categories races over the next few months in a new format so get hyped <3

Posted by: Josh! Sep 7 2017, 11:25 AM

Donald Sutherland is to get an Honorary Oscar at the upcoming Oscars ceremony for his services to film.

Very deserving imo, I haven't seen loads of his older films (I thought he was great in Klute and obviously love him in The Hunger Games franchise too) but it's crazy that he's never even been Oscar-nominated before ohmy.gif

Best Supporting Actor so going to Sebastian Stan for I. Tonya.

Posted by: Josh! Sep 17 2017, 10:20 PM

Three Billboards won the audience prize at Toronto so that's shot up as a contender now!

Not gonna update my predictions properly but these are what I'd change rn:
Pic: Three Billboards & Lady Bird are in, mother! & Wonder Wheel are out.
(I feel like Battle Of The Sexes getting in will depend on its box office as its meant to be a crowdpleaser so if it does big bucks I think it'll be nominated but if it bombs at the box office then I think it's out, I'm keeping it in for the moment)

Actor: Hanks in, Washington out.
Ik I should've stuck to my gut feeling that Roman Israel was gonna flop, just if I held on a bit longer!

Actress: McDormand in, Lawrence out
Supporting Actor: same atm but I'll probs have Sam Rockwell in soon
Supporting Actress: I rly feel Janney & Maslany will get nominated but idk who to replace! Probs Michelle Pfeiffer & Hong Chau but I'm not gonna change yet!

Posted by: UltraReputation Sep 22 2017, 10:25 PM

I, Tonya is 100% confirmed for this year now, release date is 8th December in America!

Posted by: UltraReputation Sep 24 2017, 02:14 AM

Universal are supposedly pushing IDWLF for an Oscar push in best song cheer.gif Taylor coming for that Oscar <3

Posted by: UltraReputation Sep 26 2017, 09:36 PM

I'll type up the Amazon FYC's in a few days cos there is SO much on there I don't have effort rn but a few key points!!

Last Flag Flying: Carell is sole lead, Cranston/Fishburne in supporting and Cicely Tyson in supporting actress
The Big Sick: Zoe Kazan in lead
Wonderstruck: Oakes Fegley in lead, Millicent Simmonds in supporting actress, no Michelle Williams in either actress category

Posted by: Josh! Sep 27 2017, 07:40 PM

After reading Wonderstruck, Michelle Williams has such a tiny role, she stood no chance at all really. It feels like the film probably won't do well at the awards now anyway but I think Millicent Simmonds looks great so I hope I'm wrong!

Posted by: UltraReputation Sep 27 2017, 07:47 PM

We finally have someone out of the best actress category!!

The wife has been moved to 2018

Posted by: UltraReputation Sep 28 2017, 05:05 PM

Not related to this year but Mary Queen Of Scots has got a November 2018 release date! Margot & Saoirse coming for those Oscars <3

Posted by: UltraReputation Sep 28 2017, 05:19 PM

Also Last Flag Flying seems to be liked but not getting too much love. Not sure if it'll still be a big player or a complete misfire, at this rate from the reviews I think it will only score a couple of noms!

Posted by: UltraReputation Oct 2 2017, 05:54 PM

Some new category campaigners: (cba to update thread rn as too busy, will do it later this week when I have more time!)

Detroit - Algee Smith lead, John Boyega/Will Poulter supporting
Breathe - Claire Foy supporting
Novitiate - Melissa Leo supporting

Also the categories for Last Flag Flying have disappeared, rumours Steve Carell is moving to supporting.

Posted by: Josh! Oct 3 2017, 09:50 AM

Algee Smith was brilliant in Detroit so yay that they've submitted an FYC for him. Will Poulter was utterly terrifying in that film too so I'd love for him to get a nomination. I do feel like film doesn't stand much of a chance at any nominations though as is it seems really forgotten already and we're not even properly into awards season yet.

YAY at Claire Foy going supporting too, she has a good chance of winning their in my opinion. It looks like a very similar role to Alicia Vikander & Viola Davis from the last two years.

Posted by: UltraReputation Oct 6 2017, 05:30 PM

Is it just I Tonya, The Post & PTA film that we are waiting on for trailers for films this Oscar season?

Posted by: UltraReputation Oct 21 2017, 05:37 PM

I know neither nom is probs happening now but Javier Bardem (mother) and Julianne Moore (Suburbicon) have been placed as supporting.

Posted by: UltraReputation Oct 25 2017, 09:10 AM

The 15:17 To Paris (February) and Chappaquiddik (April) are both officially out of the race. Hostiles is in (22nd December).

And Steve Carell has been officially moved to supporting for Battle Of The Sexes.

Posted by: UltraReputation Nov 7 2017, 12:16 AM

Unsurprisingly all the money in the world has had its AFI world premeire pulled.

Posted by: UltraReputation Nov 21 2017, 06:43 PM

Independent Spirit Award Nominations:

Mudbound's Robert Altman Award means it's ineligible for the acting categories/possibly other categories as well I'm not sure! Fab to see The Florida Project, I Tonya & Lady Bird doing really well! Gutted TFP scored no acting noms sad.gif Also Three Billboards snubbed for Best Pic is a massive shock ohmy.gif

edit: Actually all the big contenders seemed to miss something laugh.gif Billboards/ I Tonya best pic, Lady Bird director, CMBYM writing, Florida Project acting! Literally just Get Out seemed to not miss something of the probs Oscar contenders ohmy.gif Shape Of Water was also rumoured to be eligible so that's been snubbed everywhere if true!!

The PGA announced their nominations a couple of days ago and for the first ever time there are 11 nominees due to a tie for 10th!

Call Me By Your Name
Dunkirk
Get Out
I, Tonya
Lady Bird
Molly's Game
The Big Sick
The Post
The Shape of Water
Three Billboards of Ebbing, Missouri
Wonder Woman

Eek at no Florida Project :/ Also Darkest Hour/Phantom Thread were snubbed here. I, Tonya/Molly's Game really seem to be gaining a lot of late buzz, I'm starting to think one of them may break into Best Picture last minute.

My current best picture predictions:
1) Get Out
2) Lady Bird
3) Three Billboards
4) The Shape of Water
5) Dunkirk
^ can't see any of these missing
6) The Post
7) Call Me By Your Name
^ both are probably in but I wouldn't be shocked if either is a massive shock snub
8) The Big Sick -> despite the Globes snub its now turned up at PGA/WGA/SAG
9) The Florida Project -> I think this will pull through just, I can see this having a similar trajectory to Room.
10) I, Tonya

11) Phantom Thread
12) Molly's Game
13) Wonder Woman
14) Darkest Hour
15) Mudbound

Can really see any of these breaking in ohmy.gif
