Just a quick note to clarify in case anyone is wondering why Skall are hosting this month ~
We have decided to slightly tweak the way hosting rights work again - as always the winner of a contest will have the right to host the next contest if they're eligible, willing and able, we've just slightly modified the 'order of succession' for if the winner does pass on hosting. The hosting rights will now be offered to the highest placed country in the contest who has not previously hosted as before but now only if they finished in the top 10. If there are no prospective new hosts who take up the offer within the top 10, then we revert to the original system of asking the country who finished 2nd, then 3rd etc. Summericia passed on hosting BJSC 159 as did Bronzil who were the only country in BJSC 158's top 10 who had not previously hosted, so under the new rules Skall were third in line and have graciously accepted x At the time the rule was last changed to adopt the 'highest placed country who have not previously hosted' criteria, there was a much larger pool of countries who hadn't already hosted, so it was much rarer to have cases where we'd have needed to consider looking to countries who didn't make the top 10. There's just a sense now that the rule kind of outlived its purpose, so this rule change is a compromise between continuing to prioritise new hosts and still keeping hosting rights somewhat reasonably tied into the actual results rather than just having a fluke wildcard host every other time the winner passes. Hope this will not be controversial, apologies to Popchartfreak if you would have liked to host (although I have a feeling you wouldn't have based on some of your previous posts, in which case we would have dug down to the lower end of the top 20!) Sorry for the delay in finding a host this month but we should now be good to get going any time right about now |

Glad to see this conundrum has been resolved swiftly! Advanced RIP-a-ronis to those who want to host but haven’t made the top 10 🙏

Thank you for posting this Bray! Glad you guys seem to be happy with the amended rule. It’s not that we want to take the chance of hosting away from new people, it’s just that that rule felt a bit outdated and served less purpose now that so many have hosted and there’s something that just doesn’t feel quite as rewarding about passing on the rights to someone who finished 18th place for example.
Excited for a Harve contest anyway, it’s been like a decade! |

No I'm very happy not to host thanks! I did it once for UP and I felt I was about as basic as I could be compared to those with more IT skills! Plus, stressful, and sweaty! If I ever accidentally win, I suppose I should make the effort but other than that happy to avoid as long as I can

Aw your hosting was good John! Oh thanks Leww that's lovely of you to say I have no idea how to do all the fancy stuff everyone else presents amazingly I'm always impressed at the effort and creativity, but I will try if I win - I'll win one now I've said that, doh! |
