Top 40 Chart Commentary

• It is the ninth anniversary of Thermo's hot hits this week (originally titled danielG's Top 50!) and so it's only appropriate that the most successful artist in the chart's history sits at #1 this week. 'Heaven' gets the record-matching 12 consecutive weeks at #1 for Avicii, tying with his own 'Waiting For Love' (2015) as well as Kungs vs Cookin' On 3 Burners 'This Girl' (2016). It is now one week away from the overall record held by 'Lonely Together' (13 weeks over 3 separate runs).

• Close behind however is big club smash 'XTC', the debut hit for Solardo & Eli Brown which climbs to #2 in its third week top 10 and fifth week in the chart altogether. It overtakes Gareth Emery's 'Mezzanine', which falls to #3 following three weeks at #2. Emery also remains at #4 with 'Amber Sun', impressively in its 20th week in the chart - only having left the top ten once to make way for Avicii's album takeover.

• New in the top five this week are Gorgon City & MK with 'There For You', up five places from last week's #10. It is Gorgon City's 5th top five hit, though they are yet to score a #1. It is the 7th for MK which includes four #1s.

• The debut hit for Roberto Surace, 'Joys' shoots into the top 10 in its third charting week at #7. It is the sole entry to the top 10 this week. After last week's #27 debut, Markus Schulz climbs to #19 with 'Ave Maria'. It becomes his 2nd top 20 hit and the 6th for Haliene.

• Cristoph jumps into the top 20 at #20 with 'Slowly Burning 2019', which follows his massive #5 hit 'Breathe' with CamelPhat and Jem Cooke, the latter who also provides vocals on this track.

• The highest brand new entry comes from Gareth Emery with 'Laserface 01 (Aperture)', entering at #21. It becomes his 22nd hit. Despite its Wednesday release, the new Jax Jones single 'Jacques' makes an appearance already at #36. It is the 11th hit for Jax and also brings Tove Lo back to the chart giving her a long awaited 9th hit.

• Climbing into the top 40 at #25 is 'Ransom', the debut hit for Lil Tecca. Following its BJSC appearance, 'Guide' returns at #32 for Denis Kenzo & Kate Miles. 'Lalala' also climbs in at #40 to give both Y2K and bbno$ their debut hit.
