Oh, and it will do well.

It's this year's CIN single, and they're usually big hits unless you're name is Liberty X.

I agree with Mushy, I don't like the choice of song at all - it's not the sort of song you can modernise to today's market, and Emma's voice isn't very strong.

laugh.gif lmao k sorry sad.gif

Posted by: Aly Oct 20 2006, 07:19 PM

I just listened to it and it's a bit bland, could have done with something that has better production on it.

I can see this being big for CIN though...

Posted by: Rob Oct 20 2006, 07:40 PM

Utterly limp and dire. She's lucky she has kept it so similar to the original as it'll help sales from elderly fans of the original, but overall, it's a very poor effort and (much like Lib X last year) would be so much better with a better song...

Posted by: Graham Oct 20 2006, 09:36 PM

Is she hoping this will relaunch her pop career? laugh.gif
Seriousy it's way way bad and I really like my spices to do well sad.gif
Unless you're shagging Eddie Murphy or are #1 stick insect of course. sick.gif

Posted by: Feel_the_Fever Oct 20 2006, 10:16 PM

havmnt heard it yet but she is sure to get top 10 hit with it as its children in need and she is very popular all round on that dancing show, she really should have follow up material ready to follow up this single i think

Posted by: Tyler Oct 21 2006, 12:36 AM

Oh i thought the title was download and it sounded really good sad.gif

Posted by: Luciano Oct 21 2006, 02:07 AM

I've always loved Emma and she's always been my fave solo act out of the Spice Girls. Hopefully this will relaunch her pop career, her last album was ace.

I quite like it, not her best but still good.

Posted by: hasso Oct 22 2006, 10:04 AM

I think it will do very well for the charity, and that is what's it all about. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Chartmaster Oct 24 2006, 03:44 PM

I like Emma but it's just a bland cover version really which brings nothing new to it.
I would have preferred her doing something more uptempo.

Posted by: Lewis! Oct 24 2006, 04:11 PM

yeh it will do well for children in need , not ma cup of tea tho!

I think she has finished her third album??

Posted by: Feel_the_Fever Oct 24 2006, 09:39 PM

will be interesting to see where her third album charts and sells, can she become the first solo spice girl to have a successfull 3rd album

although i do have to say mel c's 3rd album beautiful intentions deserved to be a hit as its a good album

Posted by: Kelly Oct 25 2006, 01:54 AM

I heard this on her official site yesterday, not bad, but hardly an Earth shattering piece of excellent pop.

Posted by: Andrewy Oct 25 2006, 07:30 PM

Emma was never my fave Spice, but she's the best solo ... Free Me was a brilliant album

I'd deffo buy another one by her ... not based on SCD or Downtown (which I think is fine, but nothing amazing), but because I was really impressed by Free Me

Posted by: Feel_the_Fever Oct 25 2006, 10:53 PM

I NEVER REALLY got into emma's solo stuff but she is better than geri i will say,mel c is the best solo spice for me

Posted by: Kelly Oct 26 2006, 12:48 AM

The Free Me album was VERY underrated I thought, a lot of really catchy songs there and of course I respect her for trying something different at the time.

Posted by: Feel_the_Fever Oct 26 2006, 03:07 PM

the free me album did ok it got top 10,

Posted by: Aly Oct 26 2006, 04:12 PM

The sales for Free Me stank, it only sold about 130k.

But I don't think it's shot her career in the arm. It was a fantastic album. wub.gif

Posted by: David Oct 26 2006, 04:16 PM

Oooh this is good. happy.gif

Posted by: hasso Oct 26 2006, 05:22 PM

This song will do brilliant for Children in Need, they just showed a bit of the video on the SCD program on BBC2, it looks like all the people from SCD will be in the video, looks like lots of fun. biggrin.gif

Posted by: jack89 Oct 28 2006, 11:38 PM

ooo well SCD will help this out.. i haven't heard it but i do love all of the spice girls and want each to do well.. i just hope that emma's next album can do well.. hopefully it is more like album 1 singles rather than album 2.

Emma Bunton confirmed for Children In Need single
02 November 2006 - 15:16:14

Emma Bunton has been confirmed to record the official BBC Children In Need single.

Bunton will release a cover of 1960s classic Downtown on November 20, and is set to perform the single on the live BBC1 show on November 17.

“I am delighted to be asked to do this on behalf of Children In Need,” says Bunton. “I've always loved Downtown as a song, and I’ve enjoyed putting my own stamp on it.

“The video was great fun and all the guys in Strictly Come Dancing are in it. It was lovely that everyone really pulled together to make it happen so quickly, I was really pleased.”

The release will be Bunton’s first single release since 2004.

They showed a bit of the video on BBC2 on the program about Celebrity come dancing, a lot of the dancers are in the video, looks like a fun one. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jake Nov 3 2006, 08:16 AM

Saw the video for this this morning, all very chicy-retroed.

The song is rubbish though, why are her vocals so quiet?

I honestly can't see this mustering much chart-wise :/

Posted by: hasso Nov 3 2006, 09:56 AM

I think a lot of people who watch SCD like Emma, and its for charity, and it gets advertised a lot on that program. So I think she might do ok with it.

Posted by: truly talented Nov 3 2006, 01:21 PM

Haven't heard this yet but I'm not surprised to hear Emma's vocals sound weak. This is a big song & Emma hasn't the best of voices.

I do like her as a person but I'm not warming to her on SCD. Maybe it's because she seems to come acroos as really needing to do well but then again she has more riding on winning than most of the rest of the contestants.

Hopefully as the song os for charity it will go top 5.

Posted by: suggy Nov 3 2006, 02:32 PM

The video is on B4, Hits and Smash Hits but it's not on the Box yet.

Posted by: TeresaBloom Nov 3 2006, 02:35 PM

I've seen a little bit of the video today, and didn't like it. Nor the music ... her vocals sound really weak.

Posted by: Aly Nov 3 2006, 04:27 PM

I reckon this is far better than the 'effort' that Liberty X entered for CIN last year. sick2.gif

But still not up to much. sad.gif

Well I'm registered with her site and I've been sent an email stating all the numbers to call in and request it and I think The Box is listed. I love her version of the song and think and really hope that it does well. I really like the video for it and think that SCD and this song will really help her career, single, and album do well. It really is soooooo much better than Liberty X's awful attempt at doing the CIN song. In my opinion this is one of the best CIN versions and songs for a few years. I really do hope and think this will do well.

Posted by: Aly Nov 3 2006, 04:41 PM

It will do well as it's CIN, I've only seen Liberty X flop in spectacular fashion with a CIN single before.

Well, they didn't flop in spectacular fashion - they got #6 which is good considering it was pants and basically out the same time as Song 4 Lovers laugh.gif

I still haven't heard this Emma song yet unsure.gif

Posted by: Timpo Nov 3 2006, 07:14 PM

I saw the vid on the box before its not a great video but i like the song which is more important biggrin.gif

Posted by: :Ryan: Nov 3 2006, 07:28 PM

i think this is not that good, to be honest, but i think it might do well cheer.gif

It did flop for a CIN single, they usually go at least top 2, if not #1. It missed the top 5, and then fell down the chart as if it had a brick tied to it. yahoo.gif

Posted by: Exodus Nov 3 2006, 11:22 PM

you can hear the song on her official site cool.gif

Posted by: Tim Nov 4 2006, 11:38 AM

This song's really flat. Very disappointing - like people have said, you can't hear her that well.

I won't be buying it and I always buy Emma singles.

Posted by: e-motion Nov 19 2006, 12:26 PM

Now #6 on iTunes apparently

Posted by: Aly Nov 19 2006, 02:16 PM

I think it may be starting to grow on me... laugh.gif

Posted by: Nosey Nov 20 2006, 06:48 PM

It's perfectly enjoyable in a safe, fun kind of way. I wish they'd beefed up her vocals a bit, even if it was simply by double-layering them. No shame in that, but I get the impression they recorded this at the last minute, so it may not have had the same care and attention given to it as it perhaps deserved.

It seems as if the album was put together more thoughtfully, thankfully. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jambo3 Nov 20 2006, 07:25 PM

I really like the song, Emma sounds GREAT singing it. I'm not too sure about the video though, It could of been put together a bit better. As I said the song itself is really good and its all for charity so thats a great thing. biggrin.gif

Posted by: jack89 Nov 20 2006, 07:42 PM

How high do you think it will go? i hope it does better than everyone expects, i just love emma kink.gif even though shes over 30 shes so cute lmao

Posted by: Nosey Nov 20 2006, 08:00 PM

I think it will make top 5 and hopefully top 3. It's not her best song to date, and the clips from her album sound better so I only want this to be a big hit because it's for Children in Need and so people don't write her off before they've heard the album.

Posted by: turbibabi Nov 21 2006, 02:41 PM

well midweeks its two thats her highest posttion for ages, howeveri think thats only because its a children in need single, i have a weird feeling her album wont do well at all!
i think she shud release anuva single after this and then the album because the album will flop it its depending on downtown!
but hopefully with a good second single realse the album cud do well!maybe not well but like top 10 and 100+

Posted by: Andrewy Nov 21 2006, 10:43 PM

I agree, another single should have come from Life In Mono before its release ... people will buy downtown because of it's charity status, but it's possibly not enough to persuade a full album...

But, I'll buy it, because I love Emma.

Posted by: Aly Nov 21 2006, 10:45 PM

A big hit is the only thing that's likely to help the album at all, I think she's doing the right thing.
