What do you think?
I think they should of done a different song but as a cover its pretty good so well done to Emma cant see it doin too well though, just downloaded it off MusicMatterz forum
Not heard it yet.
Can anyone send it?
....... cover as in petula clarkes definitive version from the 60's?... her voice just isnt strong enough to carry it off.
Oh, and it will do well.
It's this year's CIN single, and they're usually big hits unless you're name is Liberty X.
Add me on msn and ill send it you timpo_05@hotmail.co.uk
Bless The Bunt
She will never be as fab as Geri
Hi
Yes Geri is pretty much legandary in my eyes
Link removed, naughty boy
Ermmm was gonna say somethin else but i forgot
Edit: thanks to person who i knicked the link from knew there was somethin!
It's not allowed so I'm gonna have to remove the link.
I'm downloading it though.
And Geri, one of the most amazing personaities in the celebrity world! Musicwise I can take or leave though.
lmao k sorry
I just listened to it and it's a bit bland, could have done with something that has better production on it.
I can see this being big for CIN though...
Utterly limp and dire. She's lucky she has kept it so similar to the original as it'll help sales from elderly fans of the original, but overall, it's a very poor effort and (much like Lib X last year) would be so much better with a better song...
Is she hoping this will relaunch her pop career?
Seriousy it's way way bad and I really like my spices to do well
Unless you're shagging Eddie Murphy or are #1 stick insect of course.
havmnt heard it yet but she is sure to get top 10 hit with it as its children in need and she is very popular all round on that dancing show, she really should have follow up material ready to follow up this single i think
Oh i thought the title was download and it sounded really good
I've always loved Emma and she's always been my fave solo act out of the Spice Girls. Hopefully this will relaunch her pop career, her last album was ace.
I quite like it, not her best but still good.
I think it will do very well for the charity, and that is what's it all about.
I like Emma but it's just a bland cover version really which brings nothing new to it.
I would have preferred her doing something more uptempo.
yeh it will do well for children in need , not ma cup of tea tho!
i wonder has she done much work on her 3rd album
will be interesting to see where her third album charts and sells, can she become the first solo spice girl to have a successfull 3rd album
although i do have to say mel c's 3rd album beautiful intentions deserved to be a hit as its a good album
I heard this on her official site yesterday, not bad, but hardly an Earth shattering piece of excellent pop.
Emma was never my fave Spice, but she's the best solo ... Free Me was a brilliant album
I'd deffo buy another one by her ... not based on SCD or Downtown (which I think is fine, but nothing amazing), but because I was really impressed by Free Me
I NEVER REALLY got into emma's solo stuff but she is better than geri i will say,mel c is the best solo spice for me
The Free Me album was VERY underrated I thought, a lot of really catchy songs there and of course I respect her for trying something different at the time.
the free me album did ok it got top 10,
The sales for Free Me stank, it only sold about 130k.
But I don't think it's shot her career in the arm. It was a fantastic album.
Oooh this is good.
This song will do brilliant for Children in Need, they just showed a bit of the video on the SCD program on BBC2, it looks like all the people from SCD will be in the video, looks like lots of fun.
ooo well SCD will help this out.. i haven't heard it but i do love all of the spice girls and want each to do well.. i just hope that emma's next album can do well.. hopefully it is more like album 1 singles rather than album 2.
Emma Bunton confirmed for Children In Need single
02 November 2006 - 15:16:14
Emma Bunton has been confirmed to record the official BBC Children In Need single.
Bunton will release a cover of 1960s classic Downtown on November 20, and is set to perform the single on the live BBC1 show on November 17.
“I am delighted to be asked to do this on behalf of Children In Need,” says Bunton. “I've always loved Downtown as a song, and I’ve enjoyed putting my own stamp on it.
“The video was great fun and all the guys in Strictly Come Dancing are in it. It was lovely that everyone really pulled together to make it happen so quickly, I was really pleased.”
The release will be Bunton’s first single release since 2004.
Well the single is released in less than 3 weeks and still no video?
Saw the video for this this morning, all very chicy-retroed.
The song is rubbish though, why are her vocals so quiet?
I honestly can't see this mustering much chart-wise :/
I think a lot of people who watch SCD like Emma, and its for charity, and it gets advertised a lot on that program. So I think she might do ok with it.
Haven't heard this yet but I'm not surprised to hear Emma's vocals sound weak. This is a big song & Emma hasn't the best of voices.
I do like her as a person but I'm not warming to her on SCD. Maybe it's because she seems to come acroos as really needing to do well but then again she has more riding on winning than most of the rest of the contestants.
Hopefully as the song os for charity it will go top 5.
The video is on B4, Hits and Smash Hits but it's not on the Box yet.
I've seen a little bit of the video today, and didn't like it. Nor the music ... her vocals sound really weak.
I reckon this is far better than the 'effort' that Liberty X entered for CIN last year.
But still not up to much.
It will do well as it's CIN, I've only seen Liberty X flop in spectacular fashion with a CIN single before.
I saw the vid on the box before its not a great video but i like the song which is more important
i think this is not that good, to be honest, but i think it might do well
I really want to see it i love the song
it will chart well for about 3 weeks then plummet i think
you can hear the song on her official site
This song's really flat. Very disappointing - like people have said, you can't hear her that well.
I won't be buying it and I always buy Emma singles.
Now #6 on iTunes apparently
I think it may be starting to grow on me...
It's perfectly enjoyable in a safe, fun kind of way. I wish they'd beefed up her vocals a bit, even if it was simply by double-layering them. No shame in that, but I get the impression they recorded this at the last minute, so it may not have had the same care and attention given to it as it perhaps deserved.
It seems as if the album was put together more thoughtfully, thankfully.
I really like the song, Emma sounds GREAT singing it. I'm not too sure about the video though, It could of been put together a bit better. As I said the song itself is really good and its all for charity so thats a great thing.
How high do you think it will go? i hope it does better than everyone expects, i just love emma even though shes over 30 shes so cute lmao
I think it will make top 5 and hopefully top 3. It's not her best song to date, and the clips from her album sound better so I only want this to be a big hit because it's for Children in Need and so people don't write her off before they've heard the album.
well midweeks its two thats her highest posttion for ages, howeveri think thats only because its a children in need single, i have a weird feeling her album wont do well at all!
i think she shud release anuva single after this and then the album because the album will flop it its depending on downtown!
but hopefully with a good second single realse the album cud do well!maybe not well but like top 10 and 100+
I agree, another single should have come from Life In Mono before its release ... people will buy downtown because of it's charity status, but it's possibly not enough to persuade a full album...
But, I'll buy it, because I love Emma.
A big hit is the only thing that's likely to help the album at all, I think she's doing the right thing.
I like emma's version but the original is better.
