Which title is your favourite and why?

Mine is Final Fantasy X which was remastered both for PS3 and PS4. It goes down as my all-time favourite computer game due to story plot, character development, variety of fiends and aeons and not to forget Blitzball.

IX will always be my favourite. I also love VII. VIII I never liked. Also enjoyed XIII and X-2 (so camp).

Mostly I just want Kingdom Hearts 3 though lol, it's been in development over a decade hasn't it?

9, 12 and 15 are trash - avoid them

9 is one of the worst things I have ever played

Ff5 is just boring and totally missed the mark of what an rpg should be today

12 and 15 are my faves awks although I do understand that the latter especially is barely even Final Fantasy, as someone who isn't a huge fan of the series I liked that was more action based and it recalled games I am a fan of so it brought me into the franchise and made me check out other iterations. 12 I haven't completed and have gotten a bit bored of but it seems like an easy bridge between the style of 15 and old FF, still seeming a bit action based but you still have to select the actions and strategise a bit more.

I haven't played the "golden" PS1/2 days of like 7-10 although I have the remaster of 10 for PS4. I've tried some of the older ones on DS and couldn't get into them, but 12 and 15 took a bit for me to get into so I think as with many RPGs I should give them another proper chance and realise you have to slog for like 10 hours sometimes before it gets good. I'm used to Pokemon games sometimes taking like 5-10 hours to get good so I should steel myself for more of the same with FF

Yes! I'm glad we got some news last year and it seems to be moving along but I'm not even convinced we'll get it this year

8,9 and 10 are the best. X-2 is also glorious. Although the Psychic dressphere is so broken, you can be immune to all damage and move around the Battlefield

X is great for sidequests, I just attempted blitzball for the first time ever and got all Wakka's shit, he is so broken when fully powered up. But Rikku >>>>>>>>>

15 is also top notch. Although my current fave is Type-0.

Grew up playing Final Fantasy 7,8, 9 and 10-love them all! Tried to get into 12 and 13 but just didn't enjoy them and haven't bothered with any of the others. Intrigued by the FF7 remake though.

7, 8 and 10/10-2 are by far the best.

9 is the worst EVER

6 is ok, bit like 9 just nostalgic and babyish to be nostalgic and babyish. It is also OVER THE TOP.

I'm surprised people were surprised by 12 on being so crap, when 9 already showed how low they can go.

It's no secret that Final Fantasy IX is probably my favourite video game of all time, whilst the whole series is my favourite franchise of all time. Honestly I've sank so much time into these, and getting Final Fantasy XII for Christmas completes my collection as the only one I haven't played!

9 just perfectly captires what a FF gme is meant to be about. I really do not get why anyone would hate it.

Quina rules all, seriously what an asset to the party when you use it Burmecia and Cleyra are nigh on impossible wihout Mighty Guard/magic Hammer//White Wind.

I like Quina for power-levelling against some of the harder enemies, but my team of choice is ALWAYS Zidane, Dagger, Steiner and Freya.

Zidance, Dagger, Quina and Freya is my go to. Although I have learned to like Amarant.

Steiner is just a pain IMO, he has less to offer than Freya in terms of abilities and never has enough MP for his attacks. Vivi becomes redundant once Dagger gets her Eidolons back. Eiko is good too, but her eidolons suck, Holy is her best ability.

Yeah I never use Vivi. I've seen a lot of people LOVE the Vivi/Steiner Sword Magic combo but it's just completely pointless. I don't tend to use magic with Steiner, I tend to try and get the best equipment for him as early as possible so his attacks are consistent with the other party member's magic attacks.

The only time I ever use Amarant is when it forces me to, his Throw ability is pretty cool but only when you use powerful items (which are rare anyway).

His overly hugh strength makes all his Sword Skill abilities useless IMO. Freya can literally leave the battlefield, cast Regen, restore MP and do guaranteed 9999. SHe beats him in every way. i now only use him when you have to, although the begining of disc 2 when he gets lood Sword is so good for levelling up. I always spend a good hour or teo in and around Treno, Dagger can usually access Shiva by the time I am done Iy also helps with Eiko since Marcus' stats carry over to her.

Sword Magic is just poo, save for Doomsday, but by that time you can have Ark so you dont need a Shadow based attack. Plus, hardly anything is weak against it

Amarant's Flair can be fab, he can resurrect party members and cast auto life. Although Quina can do the latter too. His most useful weapons come from Hot and COld though which can be a pain.

I loved levelling up with Steiner/Marcus after getting out of the cage; you're right, the Blood Sword is a life-saver (literally ).

My fave area is outside Quan's Dwelling. Those green acorn leaf things are great for levelling and once Steiner gets Blood Sword, you can pretty much OHKO them.


REALLY need the ps store to add 8 though, my ps1 packe din and I can't play it Zell is my all time fave FF character, Quistis not far behind, with Rinoa. In fact, 8 has the strongest cast, except Selphie, useless turd that she is.

Yeah no.

Fan boys switched from it to 6 to try to be hipster and contrarians r.e 7 and 8 being CLEARLY the best two entries. Later players can say 10 and that is also an acceptable answer for those later to the series.

9 is a cheap pastiche - juvenile, shit, bad story, copy of all that went before. Nostalgia fans and critics just went omg, JIZZ SQWEE!! on seeing it when it is basically UNPLAYABLE. Its CRAP sales and CRAP Steam/ Ps Store sales shows no one is here for it.

Selphie is AMAZING!!

My team was always here, Squall and Rinoa, as back then the general concensus was QUISTIS was shit. However, that trend has recently chanegd and now people say SELPIE is the worst and Quistis one of the best, sooo maybe I'm due a change of team??

Yes.

Bad level design, AWFUL graphics, too hard battles, boring, yet somehow AT THE SAME TIME!!!, over-the-top characters, CRAP plot that is ALL OVER THE PLACE, like playing the jump from Midgar to Sephiroth for a WHOLE GAME's worth of garbage, bad battle balancing/ design, long boring battles, boring gameplay, boring character setup, boring music, crap card game - BEYOND max crap - crap copies of other FF systems. People only like it as it is a juvenile copy of early FFs after the steampunk FF7 and 8. That's it. ATROCIOUS in capitals.

I always just alternated between Squall, Zell and either Rinoa/Quistis/Irvine

When I got to Ultimecia Caslte I usually dumped Squall for Irvine, I prefer his Limit break. Rinoa is a great character but her Angel Wing Limit is awful and Angelo is kinda unpredictable.
That being said, alot of Quistis' were useless and Degenerator was for pussies who couldn't handle a battle.

Translation - he was shit at it.
The only battle that is properly hard is Ozma, every other one can be easily managed with thinking and proper training.

It really wasn't too hard and it was soooo exciting. It had the best range of characters than any other FF game. I'm always a little disappointed there's no other FF with the same diversity within its cast actually.

The characters had no personality, not one between them, as they were cheap caricatures.

The game was boring from the start and the bad graphics plus hard/boring gameplay with a juvenile plot/ forced development just makes for a game that is unplayable nonsense made only for superfans.

7 and 8 will fit in today as modern developed games. FF9 will not and that is why only 7 and 8 are up for remakes. They would embarrass themselves remaking that ol crap today.

How can ANYONE say they had no personality. I could go through all 8 of theme but tbh all I need to say is....VIVI.

The story is full of detail, fun and drama. The graphics were fine for a game out at that time. It's also not all that hard or long. If you just went for the main story it can be done in short time. with all the sidequests it's still not as long as 7 or 8. It also has the same basic plot as all FF games (a group of mismatche dpeople uniting to fight a common enemy)

Seriously. Urgh. Give it up. The fact you keep saying it's too hard makes it seem you hate it because you couldn't hack it. It was the first FF game I ever played so saying it's for superfans is bull too.

I ADORE 8 but you can literally be levle 100 and have most of the best spells junctioned and have Lionheart by the end of disc 1

Um those 9 graphics aret WOOOEFUL. Yes, FF7 came out YEARS before, and even so its blocks/ environments are SO MUCH LESS PIXELATED/ BETTER COLOURED/ MORE PLEASING TO THE EYE/ LESS JUVENILE.

Ff8 - you can control the difficulty and have it as easy or hard as you want. A VERY before its time concept.

9 is utter dogshite.

FFX is by far the best, excellent storyline, genuinely challenging and made use of the PS2's engine. Unfortunately for the series, I don't think it has ever replicated as strong as a storyline for a long, long time.

Personally I really enjoyed IX, I thought it was a great game. I was only fairly young when I played it, but I found it very captivating.

I wanted a Tonberry and a Chocobo as well but it's hard to find cartoon ones in the same style as the Cactuar (I originally wanted the three stacked up on each other to make it a similar size to the crystal on the other arm).

The best I can come up with are the three ones from World of Final Fantasy as they are in the same style.

Incidentally, I have never played Final Fantasy but kind of want to start playing one and I don't know which one to buy off Steam first. I've done a little bit of JRPGing with Tales Of Berseria and can certainly handle older games, but what should I get if I just want to get one and see how it goes.

I know the strategy, and I've got it down, but I keep doing one small thing wrong every time because there's so much to think of at once And it's always right near the end I slip up which obviously takes a while then that frustrates me into not wanting to try again for a bit.

I finally did it - without cheesing it using aeons like I feared Taking a couple of days off to clear my mind of it and start afresh did the trick! Sometimes when I can't do something I get so annoyed it makes me worse at it and I need to almost restart myself. That was so satisfying but brutal.

So i am not sure what everybodys interest in the Final Fantasy series is, but i have played a couple of them and they are extremely enjoyable to me. The next game in the franchise comes out in march and this wil be the first time a main Final Fantasy series game will be released on consoles other than sony. So far it is all looking pretty good and i am pretty excited for it, the game play looks nice and the story also looks like it is going to be good. What are your thoughts ?

FF13 - XBox360. I played it on that.
Ff7/ FF8 - PC and Ps1.
FfX - same as above but ps2.
Ff15 - multi platform too.
FF13 - also released later on pc.

Sooo yeaaaaaaaaah. The game you are talking about is literally the greatest game of all time.

I was upset that XIV was coming out so soon after XIII and was a online game like XI, i think if they want online games it should be a spin off instead part of the main series.
But im kind of interested in it, i currently dont have a way to play it, but ill probably pick it up one day.

Think i'm going to download FF7 on the Switch. It's my all-time favourite game I think and to replay it now, much older and wiser and able to get immersed in the story.. I can't wait!

I went back and did Hell House easy after giving it a break, first try and neither Cloud nor Aerith fell unconcious the whole time My main tip of this game is, you can't be greedy with attacking, just because basic attacks can be done without the ATB filled I had to learn that you still have to be careful and take your time.
