QUOTE
I am thrilled to announce my #WillYoung #20Years Tour & Greatest Hits album! As many of you know, next year marks the 20th anniversary since you all voted for me as the original winner of Pop Idol, something for which I am forever grateful. I have been so fortunate and thankful that for the 20 years that followed you have supported me in all my endeavours.

It's only thanks to you all that I have been able to carry on doing what I love most, which is writing and recording music, and performing live.  I have spent the last few months planning how to mark 2022 in the biggest way possible, and top of the list had to be an anniversary tour where I play all of your favourite songs from across my career.  The '20 Years Tour' goes on general sale this Fri 29 Oct with an exclusive fan pre-sale this Weds 27 Oct.

If that wasn't enough, I'm also working on #20YearsTheGreatestHits a new singles collection that spans from #Evergreen #LightMyFire #LeaveRightNow #Jealousy right up to more recent singles such as #AllTheSongs and #Daniel plus 2 brand-new original songs I can't wait to share with you. The album will be available on CD, signed deluxe CD (w/unseen photos and unreleased/acoustic tracks) & vinyl. Pre-order any format before 3pm on Tues 26 Oct here to get exclusive access to a ticket pre-sale for the tour Weds 27 Oct at 9am.

Thanks for your ongoing support. I can't wait to see you on the road next year to celebrate the past 20 years together.
Love, Will.

PS: I'll be taking requests on this tour and preparing songs from across my back catalogue, so think about what tracks you want to hear most!

This looks exciting. Can't believe it's 20 years since Pop Idol, I feel so old!

Am definitely going to try and book tickets for this. Looooove his voice and him as a person

Side note - I really want him to rejoin the HomoSapiens podcast, now that Alan Cumming has left

It does seem very soon for another Greatest Hits considering he already has 2 official ones but its nice for fans and also he is adding some new music to the it aswell, hope it well for him, jealousy been on this one is a great addition as its probably his best single for me.

another greatest hits seems to be a bit OTT considering his last actual hit was on a greatest hits and released in 2014? I mean its a shame that he is slightly learing into the greatest hits artist over continuing new music... i've seen the changes at his shows with audiences (like the audiences at Hammersmith for 85% Proof were very much here for 'Thank You' whereas at his recent show, the audience weren't the least bit bothered by anything from 'Crying on the Dancefloor' and when there was an entire 'Lexicon' / 'Echoes' conversation, people seemed blank).

i think it would be more interesting of a greatest hits package if he did re-recordings of older songs and included more bsides/album tracks... 'Love is a Matter of Distance' for example seems to be a fan fave.

Yes! I was getting confused between that and the 2009 one. 🙈

Well, that renders this an entirely pointless release in that case.

Whilst I don't disagree with the points raised re: his last best of (I think I'm right in saying Sony released that to round off his contract after he went to Island for "85% Proof"), played in the right way I reckon this could do rather well for him.

Kylie's "Step Back In Time: Definitive Collection" and how they drove the campaign for that is a perfect example. Plus having the original hits on vinyl and the 20th anniversary of Pop Idol will make it all a major selling point. (Just incidentally, they should do a reunion show for that like they did with Friends this year. I'd watch it!)

I disagree with the comments sayings it's redundant. First off this is a celebration of 20 years and will support a 20 year tour and hopefully include lots of 20 years promotion. As someone mentioned above if they play it like Kylie's 25 Step back in time celebration it could work really well.

Secondly it includes 3 albums worth of material since the last one so there is a few songs to add to a collection.

If they do a vinyl of this then I’ll almost certainly buy it, he’s got some great singles

Hmmmm I do not like the artwork at all. I hope it’s a placeholder.

Also where are those coloured variants at Will?

Darn... gonna wait for 7 months. Until this, I have never heard (or remembered) of a greatest hits that will take this long after announcement.

He was on The Masked Singer and i'm just curious as to why he's chosen to do this... maybe i'm being a bit selfish but i feel like he's leaning too hard into a legacy artist at the moment whereas he should just keep releasing new music?

He’s confirmed this week he is releasing a new book - maybe he is branching out knowing that he won’t get music sales anymore

I really miss him on the Homo Sapiens podcast sad.gif
