Welcome to Summericia from Persephonia
oh hai Rob to the BJSC
I am representing the highly successful country of TRIANGLEDONIA
Yay Rob coming for that debut contest win!?!
welcome from Danaelanda
looking forward to your debut entry, although I usually only give points to dance music and I presume you'll be sending pop?
hey rob ~ a warm welcome to bjsc from ethanola
Aww thanks for the warm welcome guys Summericia appreciates it muchly and Danvicii, the answer your last sentence... YOU NEVER KNOW *.* we aren't completely anti dance BTW
Cor Lupus says hi
Did you not enter a few months ago as Aeondia Welcome anyway though
Welcome Summerica
Welcome Honky Bonkington
Shame you didn't join last month, Meg Myers needed your votes
Glad to see you've joined up! A warm welcome from Jadakissnia, we are intrigued to find out what your debut will be!

ROBB So excited to hear your entries!
Robert
Mulgracia welcomes summericia
Summericia are pleased to announce their debut song into this wonderful competition will be a nice slice of tribal dance provided by Tungevaag and Raaban with 'Parade'. We hope you like it and even if not then that's fine as we are looking to better our chances each contest but we believe this could provide to be a BJSC hit. 'Fingers crossed'
Summericia are overjoyed at the news of qualifying to the BJSC Finals in their very first contest. We would like to say thank YOU to anyone who voted in the semi's for 'Parade'
BJSC77 Results for Summericia
debut entry : Tunevaag and Raaban - Parade / Finished 32nd out of 43 entries.
thanks again for all the votes for our debut entry
This month Summericia will swapping genre to pop with a young lady who's been entered before but with a different song, it's something we have had in place for weeks before we could submit it and we hope it'll pay off We are happy to announce our entry this contest goes to Margaret with my 'My heart beat beat beats for you', 'Heartbeat'
Yasss we over the moon to be entering our 2nd consecutive BJSC final. Pls keep the votes coming our way. Ta x
So we came 34th in our second contest, not too bad an innings really even though truth be told we were hoping to better our debut position last month. Thanks to everyone who voted and we felt very happy having this as our track this contest so no regrets. It was a very strong final so we aren't disheartened thankfully.
WE WILL COME FIGHTING WITH A VENGEANCE next month tho~ as we already have our entry chosen (which we can't announce for a few weeks yet ) but Spoiler alert we are going dark *.* Stay tuned!
Summericia present their latest entry into BJSC
Maggie Lindemann, pictured above in a dodgy screengrab, is a 17 years old YouTube star.
-- With every subtweet, every eyes emoji, every passive aggressive ‘like’ on the latest boast post by a nemesis: these are the things that make us strong. They make us invincible. But they also make us human.
And what is humanity without a quite good pop song every now and again? Fortunately that is what Lindo has delivered here.
It would be crass to compare Maggie and Troye Sivan simply because they are both making downbeat music and promoting it through popular social accounts. But we’re going to do it anyway. What we like about Maggie’s song is similar to what caught our ear with Troye’s early stuff: with a highly engaged audience it would have been quite easy to knock out any old obvious rubbish, but there’s depth to ‘Knocking On Your Heart’ — lyrically and sonically — that sidesteps the obvious and hints at someone who wants to do something a bit different.
Fingers crossed this goes down well in BJSC as it's my favourite entry to date
BJSC//80 - Maasai - Collide
Going synthy this month in our aim to better our chances of doing well. Interesting fact - Patrik Berger who produced the track is also behind some of the biggest hits such as Robyn's 'Dancing On My Own', Charlie XCX's 'Boom Clap' and Lana Del Reys's 'Off to The Races'.
Hope you like it
Thankyou to everyone who voted for us this month especially Tartford, we are so happy it connected with you in such a way to recieve their top vote of 18
Rather than recieving our lowest final result position to date, we are really chuffed with managing to score our biggest amount of points so far. 113 is amazing so thank you one n all again
Onwards and upwards we have a few potentials for the new year that we are feeling confident about the chances of doing better than any of our entries so far but something else might crop up and take our interests throughout the next month or so as it's still early days
Who knows if we'll take part in the Christmas special

I am proud to announce Australian's up n coming artist Generik (a protege of Calvin harris) will be doing the honours of representing Aeyondore in BJSC 86!!
http://www.thissongslaps.com/2016/05/calvin-harris-protege-generik-unveils-late-night/
You can be sure to be staying up late at night to this banger *.*
#Lateatnight
just edit the youtube link as it appeared to be a short version which abruptly cuts off
Back to the drawing board for us after Q'ing with Invader Girl last month. Thanks to all the voters especially Ethan
Turns out the Calvin tag didn't work in it's favour.
Not sure which of this lot but lemme know what you think is the best option!
For me Marry You is decent and interesting sonically (and reminds me of a number of Kylienips entries), while Journey is also very good, though basically a retread of Jubel and Changes, but not quite hitting the heights of either.
Predictions would be borderline Q's for both, depending on the competition next month of course.
Updated the potentials for next month! Let me know what you think
replaced one song for a new one i found today (summery at that).
I believe I heard Journey a few months back while I was listening to those hour long mixes on YouTube of tropical house or whatever they like to call them. It was definitely one of the best ones I discovered at the time and it sounds even better now with its new video!
Journey is lovely, gives me real Klangkarussell or Klingande vibes. Love the flutes in it too, it's a real blissful summery anthem. Probably just my bias towards dance/EDM/house/tropical house songs of this kind, but I think it could do well. I'd definitely give it points if it were to come up in the final or my semi.
Marry You really doesn't appeal to me - although I'm never the fan of female chillpop numbers so maybe it'd appeal to a different audience if you were to enter it in the main contest, I'm not too sure.
Invisible is quite good I suppose - although I assume you know it's not really my genre of choice. I can tolerate it though and I'd expect Lindsey in particular to love it.
I think you and myself both know now mixed foreign language songs can do in the contest - however I do quite like this. The drop is pretty good and vocals aren't bad either. I'd call this a nailed on qualifier if I've ever seen one.
I've seen how well songs like The Haschak Sisters have done in this competition, and I recognised the name Skylar Stecker from some of MattyBRaps' videos (no shame ). This could do VERY well.
I do love this. Probably my favourite. It debuted in my chart at number 62 on Thursday - I discovered it recently. Again I'd expect this to do very well if you were to enter it
Sorry if my opinions were a bit rushed, but I think you have a strong set of potentials right there. A few of them could do very well in BJSC 87.
Liking the Jubel teas in the first one, idk if it will DNQ or not though (don't want to put you off though!)
DiSA probably gets appeal, but if you send KEYS&CAGES I'd probably point it
Rooftop has potential to do very well I think if Pupok/Yehesi entry success is anything to go by!
Come Closer could do well also, it sounds like the type of dance that can appeal to countries not usually pointing dance.
Yeah I totally get you Adam on 'Journey'. It sounds to me like it'd either do or finish in the 30's in the final (trying to avoid). I do think it might have fared better two years ago than now but I do like it and it's very chillfest dance.
Thanks Ryan & Mdh too for the feedback!
'Invisible' >> 'Il Faut Vivre' > 'Marry You' > 'Rooftop' > 'Come Closer' >> 'Journey'
'Invisible' is an easy fave here for me, does sound rather Taahino-esque. Not been a fan of previous Shy'm entries but this one was surprisingly decent. 'Rooftop' does sound like one that could do pretty well, and maybe 'Journey' too but I'm really sick of that kind of song personally ~
These are all good Rob, I do like Journey more than anything else but imagine Invisible stands the best chance of doing well perhaps, though I could see Rooftop and perhaps Come Closer doing quite well too.
Well, my ranking is nearly the same as Bré's, so I stole his line (an modified it a little)
'Invisible' > 'Il Faut Vivre' > 'Rooftop' > 'Marry You' > 'Come Closer' > 'Journey'
I think 'Invisible', or 'Come Closer' would do the best.
AND OUR ENTRY FOR BJSC 87 goes to Keys&cages with there addictive rock anthem 'Invisible'
Only just updating this now oop, been busy!
Another DNQ
Somehow someway we're going to succeed. I'm on the mission to keep this going. Saddened we did dnq with this song though but as usual thank you to those who likes and voted Invisible <3
Rob I am SO gutted that this didn't qualify for you I thought this would have been safe and I was looking forward to adding you to my 'countries voted for' list!
Thank you very much for the discovery though <3
(Also that's the spirit! Keep on going~)
Thanks again Jade for the love for Keys&Cages <3 late reply oops~
OUR entry for BJSC 88 comes from Billie Ray Martin who some might know had a UK top 10 hit in 1995 with 'Your Loving Arms', bouncing off that hype that she's a recognisable name we hope this could finally get us beyond 32nd in the final or to be perfectly honest avoid another DNQ
I'd recommend the original version of this as well as it's compared to Lana Del Rey's music and I know she has plenty of fans on here
We hope you love this enough to garner votes
Exclusive Announcement coming soon *.*
We hope your still enjoying 90's queen Billie Ray Martin
and..... It turns out you were loving good Ole 90's queen Billie enough to get us back into the final
There sure is glitter getting sprinkled as we raise a toast to Aeyundore making the final for the first time since June
Thanks one n all
Congrats! You're on a roll at the moment with your past two entries
I'm so SO OVER THE MOON to announce that we have FINALLY got a brand new peak in BJSC. Parade was our highest in our debut contest and now we gone and beaten it just a year on with a new personal best peak of 25th with Billie Ray Martin's Glittering Gutter Omg Yasssssss so so happy. It feels like a reaction of someone who won but of course not however anyone who knows me will understand just how frustrating it was whenever I qualified to just end up in bottom 10 positions lmao.
Thanks to everyone who pointed Billie, especially New Lexico & Triangledonia for the 15's :wahoo:
& on that note we can officially announce that the trade country name Summericia has been reinstated
Congrats on new peak, so pleased for you Wish I could've given your song points but it just didn't hit me quite on the same level as my top 15 did. And welcome back Summericia (will you post your new flag now? )
Congrats Rob! Me and you both celebrating a new peak this month *.* I am so gutted that I didn't quite get to point your song, it must have been frustrating to see that you were 16th/the top commiseration for me! You vs Cadelicia was the toughest choice of 1 point ever in a ridiculously strong contest. You definitely would have snuck in there during many other months. Thanks for the discovery anyway, it's always sounding pretty banging when it comes on shuffle!
Also a big WELCOME BACK to Summericia *.* Such an endearing name haha. <3
updated the first post with my flag (hides, i know it's kinda childish lol)
Ok so I may as well make the first move with potentials for the next contest (hope it isn't too early )
Here's some that I've been listening to
*this has already been #1 in my personal chart earlier in the year!
Cool My Rush is my favourite, followed by Show Me Your Colours, Danger Love and Cure.
Wasn't "Cure" sent already?
"Colors" > "Danger Love" > "Cool My Rush"
Oops, I forgot about sending my Genevieve potential. Hopefully she'll get entered to BJSC eventually
Genevieve are delighted to have the honour of representing Summericia into the 89th Buzzjack Contest & explains that the message of the song is to basically focus on the happy and positive stuff in your life. To be fair with all the goings on in the world this year we really need to so kudos on the inspiration Gene, adding that the track is the happiest song she's released so hopefully this will book them a spot in the final.
Extra mention that it's been a #1 in my own personal chart having two non consecutive stints there whilst notching up 15 Weeks inside the top 40 *.* hopefully this will prove successful with voters~
Genevieve is overjoyed to be in the final.
Keep Showing Them COLOURS & keep voting for Summericia
Only gave the Semi one listen-through but this really stood out in a big way, hope it can be a new peaker for you!
Well.... we made the final for a 2nd consecutive time so that was a success, we did want to be higher than 40th with Genevieve personally but no bad blood really as it was possibly my favourite contest this year
right now onto potentials
Yes one of them is going in the direction of trance again despite the DNQ with Dive
let me know what you prefer and state also what positions they are looking for so it gives me a clear idea. if I get loads of this is 'borderline' then I'll scrap it and look for something else lmao but I do rank all these pretty highly!
Just a side note :'Destiny, 'Not To Worry' are currently in my top 40 and Wafia has already been in my chart back in May plus an alternative potential to Dive as well as 'give love a try'
Destiny - Q - nice trance track! Could be a top 30 finish
Heartburn - borderline - hmm, not sure this will stand out but could Q
Not To Worry - borderline - quite good, again I'm not sure it will make a huge impression
Sirens - Q - this is more anthemic and could get a reasonable position if people get behind it, I'd say 25-35
Old Guitar - borderline - Avicii-esque but it's catchy and could do ok if Dan/Ethan/Mack are in the same semi (just sounds like it would be up their street)
Painting Pictures - borderline - didn't leave an impression on me but could Q I suppose
Destiny - I really liked this on first listen! Great production throughout the whole thing, think it's probably a Q as well.
Heartburn - I agree with Rich, sounds like kind of a borderline... it's nice enough as a song.
Not to Worry - First thought: Don't really like these vocals. Interesting song and could grow on me (and potentially other people) with more listens, but I'm leaning towards a DNQ.
Sirens - personally not really a fan, sounds a bit more like a Q than the previous song but I still think it's a DNQ tbh, or maybe a Q with a low finishing position (that can't happen to you again!).
Old Guitar - not quite my thing, but nice enough (it grew on me a bit by the end). I'd call it a borderline.
Painting Pictures - once again, not really a fan of the vocals but the song is interesting! I really want you to Q but for some reason I'm leaning towards thinking this is a DNQ.
Good luck!
I hope Destiny is the one who you are considering...we need more trance in BJSC
To represent us into the 90th song Contest we've gone for a very risky track by ukranian metal band Ignea with there track 'Alga', the track's music Is backed by a symphonic orchestra. WE hope you appreciate this different direction of song this month and fingers crossed it's a success!
(P.s. We realise we're in a guitar dominant semi so if you really enjoy or love our track then do vote as votes are much needed and appreciated).
We qualified for a 3rd consecutive time thanks all you that voted as per. Please do keep it coming in the final <3
SLAY Ignea SLAY *_________*
YAY NEW PEAK again... thanks guys what a way to end the year I'm so pleased as I much prefer it to 'The Glittering Gutter' too even though that was great as well!
We look forward to participating in the rejects contest next month but as far as BJSC goes this has been a fantastic year and of course ending on a high
See you in 2017!! *.*

1 track from Pupok, Hendinia, FARC, Yehesi, Mulgracia, TARO Bellamia, Altyr Muunilinst, Botanikka & two songs from Medhelnia *.*
This list is beautiful tbh
oh I have a song in top 10
#10 Medhelnia // No Wyld - Let Me Know
(okay so this one of several songs I actually looked at a potential for my entry and kicked myself when it did extremely well )
#9
Yehesi // Era Istrefi - Bon Bon
(yes I know this would be right on top of many members BJSC track of the year and to be honest it really should with mine too however I rate all of my top 10 just as equally so no shade Tim )
#8 Pupok // GIRLI - So You Think You Can f*** With Me Do Ya
(Proper banger from Pupok here IIRC I gave this my whole 18 points *.* deservedly so )
#7 // Medhelnia - FMLYBND - Come Alive
(and another entry from MDH here, this catchy indie track from FMLYBND got stuck in my head for hours upon first hearing it )
#6 Hendinia // Against The Current- Outsiders
(yea this was probably what most people thought might be #1 here but i'm afriad not, it is however still an amazingly strong anthemic track and I thank BJSC for helping me discover this excellent group, I did actually get there album too which is superb)
#5 Mulgracia // Chairlift - Moth To The Flame
(Ahhh James, says it all really when I plonk this inside my EOY 2016 BJSC tracks and your highest entry too, so flippin fantastic, thanks to hearing it on plug and it getting tons of woots right off the bat *.* )
#4 FARC - Salt Ashes - Save it
(taking it to the top back in May (I think it was May?) was Jake's wonderful 'Save It' from Salt Ashes, the artist helped me also discover my entry the following mnoth in Invader Girl's 'Stuck On Me' which showed up in the recommendations on Spotify!)
Which leaves... Botanikka, Altyr & Bellamia?
OMG top 3 and I have no clue which song it will be
And BonBon I know most of you think I did sent that...lol joking.
3 appearances in the top 25 woop *_*
Some good picks in the top 10 too!!
#3 Altyr Muunilinst // Willa - Hey
(yet another song that I looked at as a potential and was sent in the exact same contest as No Wyld, Aelyn AND Hotel Garuda!!! all of those I looked at a different times previous to that particular contest and all made the final with the first 3 making the top 4 *triple blow haha*)
#2 // TARO Bellamia - Catey Shaw - The Ransom (Tommy Walker Remix)
(right up to scratch and I double confirmed this in October when I realised Joseph had it fact got there first The Ransom is one of a few BJSC tracks to even make it to #1 on my personal chart, it's so much better than the original it's laughable <3 shoulda been top 10... I was championing it *.*)
WHICH MEANS BOTANIKKA Grab the #1 with the of course huge hit, This Girl which somehow I forgot to even vote for in the contest I don't know how really when I thought I first discovered it in the chart forum as a tip to do big things lol. Anyway congrats to Addy
*just realised I've put a substantial chart hit at #1 like Jade did with Galantis but hey it's deserved
Oh wow that feels great ...I actually had no clue Kungs will be #1...thanks Rob
Did you discover after I sent or before I sent?!
Lol no need for an apology, I understand...who cares if you voted for it when it is #1 in year end chart
Kungs
Ideally this should be happening across the board but I feel like everyone else including myself will be taking into account feelings of it during the contest lol
'This Girl' is a good #1! Admittedly it passed me by a bit in the contest but I love it now #commercialhoe
Some great other picks in your top 10! Namely: Catey Shaw, Salt Ashes, Girli & No Wyld
So the Reject songs have been revealed and we have 5 tracks up for grabs, we're still reeling the effects of Invisible surprisingly dnqing back in August the most so would be delighted if that gets a second life? or maybe the other 4 tracks will catch on.. or maybe some will just be fresh discoveries for people who hadn't heard them the first time, hopefully this will still translate into votes. Hope you enjoy them
#justice4emALL
Summericia are happy to reveal that London based witch house/electronic duo Crim3s with their anthemic sounding 'Still Goin' will be the first representative of 2017!
We've been obsessed with it since first hearing it in late November. The song even finished as Rob S' s 11th streamed track of 2016... In a space of two weeks
Anyway we hope you love/enjoy it!!
Liking the sound of this! Very Crystal Castles.
VIDEO now posted too
Well if I never... We qualified *.* (altho i was a 100% sure I'd qualify this time ) taking our consecutive Q streak up to a new record of 4 amazing stuff. The song is pretty amazing if I say so myself so I'm thrilled it's in the final
Summercia will have lots of love to spread this time round x the pressure is REALLY on for next month eek~
This is SO good. Like, surpassing KEYS&CAGES as your best entry already I am a sucker for that witchy kinda sound. <3
This is easilyyyy your best entry to date, absolutely brill very Crystal Castles esque indeed.
(I've also belatedly got a lot more into 'Alga' than I already was btw, regretting not including it in my EOY now! At least you've already guaranteed yourself a slot in my 2017 EOY with this do keep up this quality please *.*)
i'm so so glad you picked this over destiny!!!! i'm HOPING this will be ur biggest entry to date (regardless of where it placed in the semi no spoilers), fingers crossed!!! it's always great when a song u've loved for years gets a bit of a renaissance x
Yay so over the moon finally grabbing a top 10 *.*
Thanks again everybody
Oh gosh I have nothing for next month. Oh well still got time.
absolutely STUNNING entry. so well deserved
Very pleased this is your first top 10 deserved even better than 9th but that's certainly nothing to sniff at x
Congratulations Rob! Thrilled for you that this is your best performing entry as it's easily the best thing you've sent to date. An easy 18
thanks guys <3 this is what happens when you set a bar so high... i'm doomed with how to follow it up lmao but I'm willing to give it a good shot and keep bringing em interesting tracks *.*
Omg Prince Rama!! *.* I considered their song 'Now Is The Time Of Emotion' for BJSC before but never got round to it. They have a pretty cool sound!
Teaser *.*
"Emperial Dreams" "Crimson Waters"
Just some descriptions mentioned in the song~
Summericia are keeping up with the bizarre yet great entries and will follow up their previous top 10 smash with Prince Rama, they've been around for a many years but finally get a promotion to BJSC with their latest track 'Fantasy' which comes from the album Xtreme Now released in March of last year.
Robert head of Summericia says the following on the song 'Well it's a interesting little slice of Psychedelic pop that would have fit perfectly in the 70's era especially with one artist who started her career in that decade which I'm sure if one of Prince Rama's inspirations & a clear influence on this track and that lady's name would be the ICONIC Kate Bush'.
Beware the video does feature a penis & blood and a symbol of human cannibalism which I hope doesn't put people off the overall video (even I don't like that section but whatever fits as sadistic art these days)
This is another really great entry from you! (Prince Rama already having Jade's seal of approval was clearly a good sign xx but seriously this is fab)
AND we were absolutely right to have our concerns over this not qualifying but we are devastated at finishing in 29th & ruining our streak momentum :'(
This isn't the first time we've finished 29th though as Hartebees did exactly the same in January last year.
We do move Swiftly on with the 93rd contest and we have an absolute pop tune lined up
I really don't get how this did so badly thank you so much for the discovery anyway Rob <3 excited to see what you bring next month!
The head of Summericia, Robert says that the nation has now discovered a new song that will be entered (when confirmations open) no need to post potentials all the same but we will say this.... it does include a former artist representative of Persephonia *.* (although it could be sent to nuggets I guess but I seriously doubt that x)
Interested to find out what this is Not much jumps to mind for past Persephonian artists who would have a song eligible for Nuggets.
Second time you've recycled one of my artists if you do go ahead with this *.* following MAASAI x
YASSS we enter to the 93rd this electronic tune it's the first time Summericia have gone instrumental so we hope this is a risk worth taking muchl ike the last two (CRIM3S & Prince Rama), basically 2017 is all about us continuing to bring out the experiemtal risks & it's safe to say with this song that WE ARE OBSESSED <3 <3 <3
also stumbling across the video made me love it even more, wow incredible *.*
Oh my god Rob SLAY at you sending two potential artists of mine in a row *.* but in the case of this entry it's the exact song! I found 'Sentient' on Reddit last year and then this was a suggested video from that. I don't think I ever would've got round to sending it so I am SOOOO glad you went for it Adoring your sound these days.
I see you changed your entry What was the one that recycled Persephonia? Or are you still holding onto that one? x
(this sounds pretty fab once again from the clip I heard on plug though!! I have come across the name Carpenter Brut before but don't think I ever heard any of their songs)
This Turbo is zooming straight into the 93rd BJSC Final
Only the second time I've been confident in a qualification actually. Glad to see it deliver the goods for us!
Now we would like that support maintained and for another great result next week *.*
Turbo Killer becomes Summericia's 10th qualifier out of 17 entries so wheeeeeyyyyyyy for that too.
As revealed in Danaelanda land tonight, Turbo Killer finished in 22nd place. Whilst we are disappointed at missing the top 20 with it, it does overtake Ignea's 'Alga' as our 2nd best performing entry & also becomes our 4th non consecutive song to finish within the top 25 in the last 6 months *.*
Thanks to Terra Avium for their magnificent 18, Jadakissnia for the 15 as well as Singerpurear. Big thanks to Flynnonda, Fljótavík, Persephonia, FSR Rontvia, Quintessa, Mulgracia, Aeroche, Seyetana, Aesthetica and everyone else who pointed us
We may be entering BJSC 94 ;o (depending on if we can discover something we really love & maybe continuing with our experimentation).
After much deliberation we have decided on going back to pop for this contest, the difference being is unlike my previous pop entries this one is more rnb pop.
Ericka Jane is a Danish singersongwriter who's been claiming to be BAD LIKE YOU, it's got an irresistibly catchy chorus and something that's worth getting down to at nightclubs, a summer sizzler which is quite fitting as we are called Summericia after all
Hopefully one to win the pop hoes over with after not really sending pop all that often to manys surprise ;o
Yassss slay at Q'ing again. I wasn't at all confident this would even get through tbh cause it might be a little on the basic side for some people but I'm glad it's not totally the case. Slay at another pop entry making it in. Are WE READY to return back to the bottom 10??? (I hope not but I think it's extremely likely tbh) might as well accept that we made the final regardless. Yassss slay me ERICKAAAAA <3
An 2nd consecutive top 25 for us then thanks to everyone who pointed us, unfortunately for the pop fans it is for now a case a rare one off as we're heading back to either industrial or German Dark wave *.* of course the last time we went in this direction we entered Still Going which went top 10. Much anticipated whatever we choose~
'Everyone has hopes your human after all' #BJSC95
NEWS BULLETIN:
We have received exclusive word this evening that former entrant for Summericia, Maggie Lindemann who didn't manage to qualify for us in BJSC78 has managed to score a top 100 placing (#92) on the Official UK Singles Chart with her latest single "Pretty Girl". This marks the first person or band etc that represented us to chart in the UK chart. Let's here it for Maggie. G'won gurrrl *.* :cheer: :cheer:
--
Our song for the upcoming contest shall be revealed in due course!
g'won!
I love that feeling when a song/artist you send goes on to have a hit. Especially loved it when I sent 'Gecko' and then it topped the chart a few months later (in vocal mix form but still).
I can't believe it's been like four months since it was released. I heard it a few times when it was on my New Weekly Music playlist on Spotify and thought it was decent
For May we are sending what I was intending to send in October/November...
VNV Nation's Illusion is track 9 off the 2007 album Judgement. Beware this is the most personal and deep song we've ever sent. Released in May 2007 bizarrely enough so fair to say it's also my oldest track by 10 years.
This was then linked months later and is now used as a tribute song to London girl Sophie Lancaster who was tragically murdered by a group of thugs for being a goth in August 2007!
I've been listening to this for about 6 weeks now and I'm still as gripped by the lyrics, spoken words, emotional piano bit etc.
Here it is!
(if it works otherwise I'll link it tomorrow!
This song is absolutely stunning. I've played it three times now and its sending shivers down my spine. Not many songs do that. The piano bit is similar to Liquidity by Marillion. It's not in my semi so I hope the people in semi 2 vote it into the final.
For the second time this year we head back into DNQ zone as Illusion crashes out at the unfortunate position of 21st place.
Our thoughts? We knew this would happen as we'd had doubts especially when we had preserved the song to be sent in November!! Just thought I'd continue with our *interesting* entries though as we hadn't been confident over the first two we confirmed.
Illusion dnqing makes it the 4th song we REALLY LOVED along with Invisible, Dive & Knocking On Your Heart that missed out. With Fantasy following!
I did make a decision that whenever I next dnqed I'd actually sit out for a contest and that is exactly what we're going to do for the first time since joining in BJSC76! We will be back soon though with a hopeful hit (just wanting a Lil break~)
A big shame this didn't qualify. I've played their top 5 most popular Spotify songs and like them all so I'll listen to their albums when I have the time. Thanks for bringing them to my attention.
Gutted, it was v. close as to who was going to get my 12 for the semi this month.
This just missed out on points from me in the semi, aw at it falling just short of qualifying. Fair enough at you wanting to take a break from the contest - as long as you do actually return because your entries are really becoming essential of late!! x
come back with another witch house bop xxx
If anyone is interested I just compiled my rankings in full for semi 2 (I might do this occasionally tho)

Everything up to Herzebania amazing to great, wasn't keen on the last seven though. Jadakissnia & especially Pupok make huge jumps to get into my final votes!
Oh I never posted in here about my disapproval of your DNQ </3 absolutely stunning entry, the lyrics were really moving and made me feel a bit emotional on first listen! Got 10 points from me in the semi so another Summericia entry this year that I really liked *.*
Glad to see my entry grew on you from 12th in the semi to 6 points in the final!
We return for the 97th Bjsc with a song first released in 2001 but took over YouTube when remixed 9 years ago *.* it's a nice slice of anime pop eurodance
Consider me hyped for this return then!
& we're back with what I'd personally like to call a BOP, whether that reflects in the contest is anybody's guess.
It comes from Caramell with their nightcore/eurodance/slightly anime (the video) track Caramelldensen!! *.*
To anyone's disappointment that were expecting the Swedish version apologies it's the English version as I think it's better! However the Swedish one is still great nonetheless!
"Now dance to the beat, wave your hands together, come feel the heat forever and ever"
It was a huge YouTube phenomenon back in the day too. Remember the OLD YouTube days _*
English version entered
here's also the swedish version for the guys familiar preferring that one!
This 2 win. 'Caramelldansen' is such a joyous blast from the past.
I'll just pretend you sent the Swedish version just as I pretended the Greek version of Haide got sent and won last month
Good choice though, surprised it took this long for it to appear in BJSC (it got played on plug a few times over the years).
I don't know how I didn't click what this was from your earlier teaser post! Quite the classique *. (I think the English version is the one I know already anyway although not certain).
edited the videos in, i just realised the swedish version is the one added to the spotify playlist, oops should have saved the confusion and said the UK one specifically... oh well.
Absolutely LOVE it
Our second August finalist... GET IN!!!
(Invisible shouldn't have dnqed last year tho </3 )
Hyped for a great position for Caramalldansen/dancing though *.*
Thanks everyone for voting for it to go through
So.... we can reveal we came 10th whether you loved it or *hated it* (as it was quite a diverse and controversial pick) Caramelldensen/dancing certainly lived up to its hype & awarded us our second top 10 this year *.*
There's still no beating Crim3s tho (rightfully) but I'm chuffed. Thanks to everyone and anyone who gave us points even those to mentioned us in the commiserations
Whilst we don't know a hundred percent know what to send this month although I have looked at something the winning nation Quintessa *might* like so I might consider that but it's probably not going to get us an 3rd top 10 although I could be suprised I guess.
A big congratulations to Quintessa tho, catchy song & the huge grower & now wonderful Pariah on coming 2nd <3 little did I just discover quite late that Steven Wilson is behind the group Porcupine Tree which I know very well from my Uni days~
Wd to everyone else too!
Well done on another top 10! I can't resist a cheesy club anthem, definitely my fave entry of yours this year
Congratulations on a second top 10 this year Rob *.* it was so weird to see 'Caramelldancing' taking a while to get off 0 in the results show, thank goodness it soon rightfully started flying up the board looking forward to your next entry as you've been continually impressing me this year!
Yay for a second top 10 hit for you not too long after the first, a strong comeback *.* a little surprised this didn't end up as your biggest hit actually but well deserved success anyway!
Our next entry is headed back in the rock direction!
Dorothy's Wild Nights. Hope to have fans for this as it stood out to me right away. They've supported Halestorm on their last tour and have been touted as the coolest new rock group to emerge. Dorothy Martin is specifically categorised as having one of most powerful rock singers being compared to Joan Jett
Hype~
Seems like our rock entries don't seem to do enough to qualify *cries into a pillow*............ to be honest I believe we *could* have qualified if it weren't for an extendingly big batch of semis (maybe not too). Kinda sucks to DNQ with this ngl but I suppose the video cost us unfortunately (despite barely any negative comments about the nutella eating on you tube, they were more along the lines of *I can sit and watch her eat that, it's worth it when she's so f***ing hot* :') :') :') ) anyways to the surprise of many I didn't even really pick it for the video at all so I'm gutted it's failed to get more on board as a *SONG*.
This was in fact the same position - 23rd, that KEYS&CAGES came which also was a rock track as you know! So that's a unusual coincidence we've finished 23rd twice with separate rock tracks
Thanks to our top 12voter Jacob who's under the nation Aelandor.. which is not a surprise at all & funnily enough returning the favour from the 12 we awarded Old Man by them last month ;o & maybe this month too.. although I'm not saying anything just yet!!
Let's just say for the 99th contest I'm sending a bit of a rave tune from 2000 which also happens to be in my top 10 EOY right now ooh intrigue~
I would hope the video didn't actually put people off voting for it had no bearing on my opinion of the actual song at least (which I would have liked to see qualify, aw ~) although with it being so close it is an interesting hypothetical... hmm.
Currently deciding on two songs being my final 2 entries of the year and what to send first, they are both yet again old songs though the first from 2000 & the other 1996. One rave & one new age track so consider us attempting to go all out for these last two important contests *.*
The decision will be made just in time for the confirmations over the weekend of course~
I'm ready that's all I can say & im very happy with these two discoveries!
RAVE *_*
(Tbf they both sound pretty tasty!)
RAVE RAVE RAVE
Oh I can't wait to hear your rave entry...i have one on my list as well from 1996
YASSSSSS hype already *.* (now for the downfall if it doesn't impress, #keeppositive)
Ooh ok we could both be sending songs from 96 at either this contest or another one then interesting...
I'll add to any pre-emptive hype for a retro rave entry *.* x
I heard 'Dark Nights' on the radio tonight!! Sounded great
For the 99th contest and our 22nd non consecutive entry we are sending the STUNNING 'Ameno' by ERA. This is very enigma esque with beautiful vocals and nice little dance beat to go with it similar to Enigma or any of that type of music back in those times. Controversially we did just become aware that this had already get sent to another contest elsewhere on the site (Unknown Pleasures) and earlier this year which I wouldn't have predicted, usually we do check everywhere just in case for our entries but this month was a clear slip up as I've been so distracted that I forgot to check Nuggets or UP lmao. Hopefully this won't interfere with it doing well here
also whilst we're at it, this is another one of theirs which I also considered, just as nice!
I know this song but only the Ferhat Sonsoz remix. I expect I'll still like this version though!
Was shocked to see this here! I've known the song for years (it was a hit in Europe) and it's among my favourite UP entries of recent times so the hype is mutual this time around
Thrilled to announce that we qualified with the utter beaut that is Ameno. I know there was a bit of 'groans' about it being entered after it was sent to UP a few months prior, potentially resulting in some snubbing pointing it again as a result. In my defence it wasn't like I expected that track to be sent to something like that (would have expected it to have been sent to the main contest straight away, anyhow apologies again for not checking those areas this month x) on the plus side for anyone who heard this for the first time and like it thank you for your points and sending us to the final
ERA to slay <3
I'm glad this has been sent here as well tbh, it's a glorious song that deserves the exposure to those who didn't already know it via UP. x
Thanks to everyone for pointing Ameno, we noticed their was a few snubs due to UP but thankfully it didn't harm us THAT badly in the end as we managed to just about secure out first 20-11 result coming in 19th! We're pleased with that even if did sound like something that could've finished a bit higher. Nothing to bother about though as it's still a medium sized hit!
Thank you to Tartford, Jadakissnia, FSR Rontvia, Persephonia, Espen, St Burbia, Botanikka, South Danaelanda, Beaverdonia, Yehesi among others (forgotten already :') )but a massive THANK YOU to Deandria & Dobago for awarding us their 18 points *.* (former nearly got a points swap *. )
Now we move onto the 100th contest and after being set on my two entries I've now go unsure about one and that was the *rave* one. I've got a couple other tracks I could send. Shall I post potentials since it may be better to get a better reflection instead of sending something that could be fatal for us on this penultimate contest?
Summericia continue to kill it for me in 2017 as 'Ameno' is gorgeous, it would've been my 12 if I had voted in semi 1 but it then got overtaken by a couple of songs in the final. I am yet to debut in Unknown Pleasures so I was not exposed to it through that, instead I just heard it on plug.dj once agggges ago and loved it, so thanks for reintroducing it to me! Top 20 is a pretty good result for it.
This was an amazing entry when that beat comes in it just goes to another level. Safe to say I definitely prefer this to the remix I mentioned previously in here. This now overtakes Show Your Colors as my fave Summericia entry to date!
It was the Ferhat Sonsoz remix I already knew prior to the contest which is decent but not a patch on the version you entered.
You're welcome
BJSC 100 (unless I change later) ;o
#100 Phantom of the Opera meets Beauty and the Beast!!!
Welcome to our representative for the hundredth BJSC... Dark Sarah & JP - Dance With the Dragon!
Ok so since Illusion was originally saved for this particular contest and was decided by myself to enter earlier due to having nothing else I felt confident with at the time (still dnqing regardless) & a year on from Symphonic Metal entry Alga by Ignea which rewarded us 24th place, we ended up going back to the Metal genre (wasn't intending too x). This time we swap Symphonic for Cinematic instead... A very unusual pairing these two singers. JP's voice hopefully won't put people off much as it's almost comical until the chorus but when he and Sarah really go for it big in the chorus, it goes OFF. incredibly powerful, orchestrated video perfect for a blockbuster movie especially not too unfamiliar from the Beauty and the Beast film that came out this year and was absolutely brilliant in itself.
We hope this impresses you, I'd like to remain hopeful of our chance but we can't garuntee whether it'll q as the chances are that much tougher what with a massive batch of songs for this milestone of a contest!
(I'll link video in morn~)
here's the rather bonkers and unusual yet excellent video <3
Another fantastic entry! One of the clear Semi standouts.
Dark Sarah will get retribution in my EOY personal chart X Thanks for voting it but I'm afraid it wasn't anywhere near to qualifying unsurprisingly. Just too damn good of a semi!
So we finish of our impressive year with a DNQ which brings that tally up to 4 (less than last year)
With Rejects coming soon we have 4 tracks needing your help!!
Prince Rama - Fantasy
VNV Nation - Illusion
Dorothy - Dark Nights
& Dance With the Dragon of course.
A very decent batch of Songs that missed out this time!
Gutting by a long shot my fave track of Semi 1. And yes to your earlier comment that's 3 of your past 4 entries I've absolutely loved
I've just downloaded Semi 1 and I'm listening to this and it's the easiest top score I'd give out everffs semi 1 CONGRATS ON YOUR VICTORY SUMMERICIA
Oh wow that's amazing to hear, I kinda didn't doubt the fact that you'd be a fan tbh , not enough people appreciative of Cinematic metal unforch. I did think it do better than it did admittedly (otherwise I wouldn't have bothered sending it) I'm glad some people were fans of it though. Should do pretty well in my EOY just like Keys&Cages did last year! Thanks Iz!
Like I said in the thread I wasn't expecting this to make it but I definitely thought it would be a lot closer than it was - obviously not shocked at all at Iz being a fan as well Enjoyed this one a lot once again anyway, Summericia have had such a good year <3
we will be whipping up another eoy for bjsc but I won't be doing a huge drawn out slow countdown simply a 100-50 then 50-11 and then a small countdown from 10 to 1. there was so many tunes this year & the number 1 hasnt even been thought about yet but I think there'll be lots of contenders ;o
we have arrived into a brand spanking new year for BJSC and I can gladly say that for 101 we are sending 'Give It up' by Swedish blonde duo Graaf. The songs genre is euro pop and came out in 1998 so we are sending another old song lol (I'll try and limit how much old skool we send this year unless it's excellent or cool)
we hope for the best and would like to kick off the year with a qualifier after we finished 2017 with a DNQ!
--
never did end up compiling a eoy BJSC for last year. I can try and put one together at some point this year but it may not be important now we're into a new year.
Well in interesting fashion Give It up whilst a infectious euro pop bop to the Summericia nation didn't manage to get through in the opening contest of 2018.
Robert head of Summericia says that it was a foolish mistake as the song might have done better in the Summer or something and with several pop countries bowing out, things are getting a bit tough for songs of this ilk to qualify!
102..... so we will going rave this month (not the same potential as October last year tho) let's hope it's a smash!
After 102 proceedings got underway last night in Republique D' Ashton, we finally found out what Summericia revealed as their 25th non consecutive entry. How fitting that becoming our 25th entry overall sees us returning to the very genre that gave us our first top 10 in BJSC... witch house mixed with some hybrid rave to form witchrave!
The head of Summericia Robert says that this should be what some have been wanting from us after smashing with the massive 'Still Goin' by Crim3s last year, for reference Seyetana's eoy rank and Aeroches Leww. we hope we deliver the goods. Cains Suicide Girls Dance is very in your face and does have those reminiscent shouting vocals perfect for raving too. the lyrics are also some you may recognise as it's a sample of Mr Kitty's 'Night Terror'. from our extensive research we did notice that Mr Kitty has been entered before a few years back and finished 3rd so here's hoping the Summericia are onto some success after our DNQ last month.. we don't want another one already and would dream of another smash of some degree! Be prepared to get your rave on
'still goin' remains your absolute best for me so I'm very hyped to hear some more witch house from Summericia! especially with a Mr. Kitty sample as part of the package because everything I've heard from him has been brilliant.
I am quite predictably on board with this again *.* maybe not quite as incredible as CRIM3S but not too far off. (Goals at this guy being from Kazakhstan btw)
And I am back on board the hype train this month! Amazing entry
Yup I'm as predictable as ever with spoopy music and absolutely love this massive step up in quality from your last entry
i see you had me down as a potential fan... good shout, love this on first listen!
Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssss we got through. glad to have so much hype. keeping my fingers crossed for another hit!
thanks to everybody who pointed us. it was very intense to be included in the jury reveal for the first time but it had its positives as we were In 23rd then slipped as low as 33rd till we were revealed as the 4th highest pointed song from the jury's so thanks again.. I do wonder though what it'll take to get East Rukahavian on board tho as they are one of a few noticeable nations not to have ever pointed us from our recollection ;o
anyway there were several people who gave us their 18 I can't remember everyone who did but of what I did catch ta Jadakissnia and Singerpurear who usually are on board with Summericia!
Singerpurear might be into our next lined up entry tho as it was going to be sent for the latest contest. its a slight change from witch house. very distinctive 60's sounding song and distinctive video which has a recycled artist but I'll not tell anymore yet
So glad that this managed to be a top 15 hit for you, after it was languishing too low on that scoreboard for far too long! I already fell in love with witch house and witch trap, now clearly I need to check out some more witch rave stuff as this was so good *.* ~high 5s for 18 point swapping~
60s-sounding song next time sounds like an interesting switch-up ;o
For 103 we go down a different route, string percussion perfection this one as we go for Jonathan Bree (you might remember him from Princess Chelsea's "Cigarette Duet" which Singerpurear sent in 2016). I discovered it In late January and debated whether to send it last month but considered holding it for a bit but now I think is a good time to send it.. it has 3Million views on YouTube, the power *.* very cooool (no pun intended) vintage 60's video and the song just brings too chills throughout especially with the strings... sends me into a nice dream Everytime lol.
so introducing You're So Cool by Jonathan Bree as Summericias entry for BJSC 103!!
Ooh I had only bookmarked this song as a possible UP potential and hadn't really looked it up properly, so I didn't realise that Jonathan Bree was a part of Princess Chelsea even though he has quite a distinctive voice the vocals did feel somewhat familiar though so you have answered my question as to why. Anyway, great song, as always I am a sucker for strings! I love how the slightly odd video harps back to bands in the 60s also. It is a pretty haunting package on the whole. I hope this will catch on!
absolutely thrilled with 20th. cheers to those who liked and voted for Your So Cool. I believe it beat Cigarette Duet too by 5 places. (that's a fab tune too xx)
We won't be taking part next month (April)!
link to the video will be edited in later.
After being on another "break" we enter the 106th BJSC Contest with the hot deep house song "Lost in Istanbul" by Romanian singer Brianna. prepare to feel the summery vibes of this tune. "Ooh Na na na na"!!
was hoping this would live up to the hype, and based on a first listen I'd say... yep, this must be big contender!
LOVE this song so much, actually first discovered it just after 105 started so it certainly was a potential for me! (In fact I came very close to entering it to the last Club Bizarre but glad I didn't as then it wouldn't have been able to get a run out in this ) have ALL my hype
@Dobbo Yeah it's something I could have envisioned you'd send tbh. hopefully this should set up to do well for me!
@Dan Yesss, seeking out that hit *.* I hope it does do very well, fingers crossed for top 10/5!!
So it was revealed this evening that WE qualified once again 😍😍😍 of course we understand that the time out effectively ended the monthly participation streak we had with 2 back to back qualifiers earlier this year but regardless of the hiatus we now have a unique streak in the form of 3 non consecutive finalists without having anything dnq since January (before our streak of two qualifiers started)!!
amazing and to top it off Romanian singer Brianna delivered with the lush European Dance banger "Lost in Istanbul"!
next stop... hopefully another top 20 for us. keep this position streak Alive too 🙏🙏
I had this as a potential during the month! It is so good and I hope it smashes for you Rob
welp I probably should have sent this back in March </3
BULLETIN!!
Well it's surprising what happens with some artists you've sent to BJSC that you'd never in the slightest would have thought *THIS IS EYEING UP A HIT*.
In unexpected news former Summercia representative (and another that flopped like Maggie Lindemann) Boston Bun are eyeing up a UK hit after being playlisted by radio 1 today with new single "Spread Love", haven't heard it myself yet *awks* but it's looking to do pretty well. I do wonder how many more artists that dnqed for us will eventually turn one of their songs into a smash in the charts and continue to make us proud?
(now for a qualifier of mine to take off officially) :')
BJSC 107 //
how good is THIS!
*.*
jesus, WHAT a tune!
Thanks for the hype you two <3
so Happy to get yet another qualifier!!
well I’m kicking myself AGAIN so thank you
Congrats on the first win Roba <3 not my favourite entry from you by any means but it makes up for your run of amazing entries last year that never got any further than top 10 scrapes. Glad to see that you are planning to host as well!
I didn't realise 'Try To Fight' had been in PJSC before, think that must have been one that I skipped or didn't actually listen to. x
YES YES YES! So happy you are now a BJSC winning nation ok so we didn't actually vote for this particular entry but that's not important you've sent FAR too many amazing entries in the past so this is finally the deserving success owed to Summericia!
And we look forward to visiting this fine nation to continue our relentless flopping this decade
Obviously elated for you Rob, far too many of your entries have flown under the radar when I'd have expected them to do much better so for this to live up to the hype (and exceed it) is fantastic. I'm very excited for a contest in Summericia!
And you are owed a BJSC winner's widget now too!
Dandy is still owed the third star on his BJSC widget as well ;o
Actually I think I can now add these again myself - it's everyone from 104 onwards that needs one
The widgets for 104 and 105 are added, the awards section is just broken and doesn't display them in chronological order any more for some reason
I've just discovered that - how weird!
Still, turns out I can now delete one too so I'll just get back to adding mine and Rob's!
congratulations babe, a really inspired entry and an incredible video to make the package one of my all time favs <3
ooh yess now that Innocent tag finally has some company *.* Thanks Jake, I really enjoyed ur entry too as well as Liam's!
absolutely deserved - one of the best videos i have EVER seen in bjsc and yet another great summericia entry. makes up for lost in istanbul last month, and still goin!
I'll link the video into this post later....
Exciting stuff as the next contest opens up in the Summercia Capitol!
Following our win last month we decided to take advantage of our AQ and send our 2nd ever pure trance song, 'Connection Through Sound' by Katty Heath is imo absolutely beautiful and breathtakingly ethereal. just those *feels* adds up this song. it was between two tracks and I didn't actually confirm this 1st but after re listening to both of my potentials this one sounded like the perfect one to send especially as we are heading into the later part of summer going into winter season nearly. I would have definitely had sent this at some stage tbh because it just has that go to factor for me. another reason I've sent this is because last time I sent a trance track and sadly it dnqed for us all the way back in 2016 so being the winner I also took advantage of not letting this beauty fail to make the final THIS TIME!! Yay for winning. so it's kinda a little retribution for 'Dive' too!
Amazing! Great to hear another emotional trance track from your nation. Hope it actually does well this time.
Can we just give you the win again?
We had a fun ride hosting seeing the songs and votes which was very enjoyable, less said about spreadsheets tho. I finally got it right in the end but to the point where I was doing them for 8 hours/over 12 hours last week was excruciating and very frustrating lol. I'm so slow at stuff and work complicatedly. all smoothened out in the end tho and would like to entend a huge thank you to Bre for rescuing me from the scoreboards. we'd probably still be on like 20 the rate I was going hahaha.
lots and lots of fantastic songs this month, I guess when ur hosting you really get into literally every song almost as u have to put even more effort in. eventually there wasn't anything I disliked, maybe a couple but that's always gonna be the case.
Thanks once again everyone who pointed our AQ the sublime trance tune by Katty Heath. we're chuffed with 20 (matching Jonathan Bree and taking our participation consistency up to 5 Top 20's since February, woo) and I honestly didn't know if it'd do as well as that even so thanks all. especially Utopia for our sole 18 & ur song grew on us loads by final time so yay.
--
now I'm undecided on what I'll send next month. I'll keep the streak up (yes I know I had a break but still) hopefully tho!

Likes of Trifoski and D'yermak'er grew on me loads in the last week, I'd have ranked Trifoski about 27th in the final as I didn't complete a full rank for the final.
Connection Through Sound was FANTASTIC, kinda deserved more than it got but I'm glad to see a trance entry do well for you this time!
(still don't know how Dive managed to DNQ when we had Give Love A Try and Saving Light win just a few months later)
109 ::: Anne Clark - Our Darkness
Coming into the follow up contest from having hosted with a very OLD song... dating back to the year 1984 from techno legend Anne Clark, its a song that was deemed ahead of its time back then but has opened the door for so much techno/electro 80's song since. I guess you could say this is a very risky song for us as we can't see anything but a DNQ this time but hopefully it can grab some fans who are into this type of stuff. we hope you enjoy this electro/techno 80's song with talking verses and choruses. yes it's one of them songs. we are placed in semi 1 for this contest.
--
On another note we are entering our 2nd spin off contest... yay!! and we're pleased to announce that we will be sending our 3rd time lucky entry (for a DNQ that was unlucky twice) Keys&Cages 'Invisible', there were several we were considering but this was easily my favourite entry until Crim3s came along (its still my 2nd fave overall now) & was my most played song on Spotify in 2016 as well as coming 3rd in my Eoy of said year. We aren't planning on sending any rock/metal this year so this will count as our annual send a rock song to something a year thingy!
Should have qualified first time round xx
'Invisible' is a BANG ON choice Rob that deserves so much justice, good luck *.*
Weird leftfield Summericia is back *.* I approve greatly. (Idk if it will qualify but I really hope so x)
Ooh yesss Bre, Strange experimental Summericia is defo back I had first heard this in mid summer last year tbf but ended up revisiting and sending finally because I had nothing else I was that big on, even if this does DNQ.. I won't be too bothered as long as it has some fans behind it. Of course I'd welcome a qualifier but we'll see I guess (comes 27th or something tho)!
psychic roba strikes, unsurprisingly this dnqed thanks for the love that it received though. 110 beckons and YBO is still ongoing too. hype for Invisible *.*
Blutengel managed to finish in a surprisingly impressive 10th place in the Halloween spin off. Thanks for the votes!
As for the imminent usual contest... BJSC #longsongbloc for the first time
Just a day to go!
Well what a song to close out Summericias highly successful 2018.. In Strict Confidence are a German Electro band and "Morpheus" is the song that will be representing us In Aeroche for 110! The song is wait for it ...... 11 minutes and 20 seconds long but I couldn't find the 6 minutes one on YouTube or Soundcloud (which is what my main preference would be otherwise). The extended version includes singing in German and also English later before coming back to German again!
It's also the semi 2 closer so woop.. semi 1's closing song is kinda cool too as it's the only other song I know from seeing the songs in full... "1992" was a very big potential of mine two months back so much so that it was the first track I submitted to the contest held in Summericia but changed to Katty.
It's a bop though so we hope that can do very well!
Bottom 10 for us for the first time since Genevieve in October 2016 (not counting hiatuses or Dnqs)
Thanks for the votes especially the two 18's and 15's!
Breaking up our 6 month + hiatus Summericia enter their first BJSC this year with some Japanese Pop with impressive high range vocals and a lovely piano input brought to you by Beverly with "i need your love". First time going for J/K pop so another venture into a different genre dimension for us! We first heard this is May and found it exceedingly infectious, so many cool things going on in it too. We aren't particularly sure if it will do major things but we're positive it can get some success! Check it out on my sound cloud page and on Spotify
(we would post the video however its only available on daily motion... There is a video on YouTube but its like 1.50 only so audio is your only option rly. :'( )
Bjsc 118 : Covenant - Dead Stars.
Covenant are a Swedish Electronic group who formed in 1986, "Dead Stars" is a catchy slice of industrial packed with an infectious instrumental which from what I've read somewhere samples "Showroom Dummies" by Kraftwerk. Released in 2000 it comes from their 4th Studio Album United States of Mind and is one of their most popular songs. Interestingly enough this was a huge potential that I had ready to confirm on 3 occasions in 2017 and was my 2nd most streamed song of that year behind "Still Goin".
Hope this has some fans!
(also thanks to everyone who pointed us last contest and got us through to the final.. 31st wasn't a bad result!)
Your last couple of entries in this comeback weren't doing it for me but 'Dead Stars' is something else *.* this is the Summericia I love.
Not sure if that was just a typo but the sample is of Kraftwerk! ('Kernkraft 400' is a song, not an artist )
BJSC 119 // Nobuo Uematsu - Toberu Mono
We made the final again. As for our song... A classical sounding song featured in a popular 2011 game... The Last Story with a lush remix touching on major feels! Simple but effective, less is more etc etc... Now for a respectable placing!
This is an absolutely wonderful number, it's no surprise I am a big fan of this
Last month saw Faouzia's pop song "Tears of Gold" place inside the top 10. In doing so giving us 5th top 10 and 3rd best performance overall!
Thank you to all who voted for it and a special thanks to Hendinia, FARC, Singerpurear and Taahino for the maximum points ❤️
------
122 ¦ CAT - Moon Spells
Time to head back to Witch House for the first time in 2 years (February to be exact *.)
Got a bit behind on updating this oops.
BJSC 123 // Alice Grey - Take Me To The Water (reached Final, came 32nd)
BJSC 124 // Amy Peters - Salt (DNQ)
Bjsc 125 // CHROM - The Start of Something New (tba position in final)
So after entering some filler pop songs (well Alice more so but thanks to those who were a fan especially pop fans who hadn't pointed us in ages) we return to our comfort sound this time with Synth electro band CHROM with their tune 'The Start of Something New'. I first heard the song in early March but decided on keeping it till a time I needed to unleash it but it stood out right away, comfortably my 2nd fave this year. We were REALLY unsure about it getting through as we've flopped with tracks that have similar voices to this before ie VNV Nation. So thanks for getting us in and we pray for it to do well, hopefully another respectable placing, (not bottom 10 x)
Rob, I would formally like to apologise for not pointing Tears Of Gold. I have no idea why I didn't. What a song!
Results from BJSC 126 - 34th
This is the second time we have finished in the bottom 10 of a final this year. 'Warrior' becomes the 2nd of our entries to place in 34th. We have finished here before with 'Heartbeat' by Margaret. We'd like to thank Séyetana and Dobago for rewarding us with their 18's.. Especially the latter as we would have unjustly dnqed if they hadn't given 12 to us in the semi.
BJSC 127 awaits and we have a super relevant track for said current times ready!
127: KAS:ST - Hell On Earth
"I'm a human being goddamnit, my life has value
the speaking bits come from the film Network 1976
ironically this turned out to Peter Finch's (in the video above) last film as he passed away two months after. </3
we appear in semi 2 in 30th spot which is a brill placing for us however from skimming the countries in our semi it might be a tough task as we feel our general audience for this song are in the other semi :'( here's hoping for a qualifier nonetheless.
Yaaaaaas. We got through especially in a pop dominant semi which did suddenly make us a bit worried. Now onto to a great final placing!
Fully here for this one as well (as I'm sure you could probably guess), worked very nice as a semi-final closer! Yay for it making it through despite the less than ideal draw ~
Elated this qualified, now I give it all my support
Big for this!!!
this may just be the best entry you’ve ever sent, very much an outstanding track of the contest and the year. hope it lives up to the good predictions.
well done. stunning entry and honestly is the kind of sound i've been trying to send for like 5 years - perfect gothy stuff! gave me total entry envy.
both of those sound AMAZING. down for either!
128
In the end we ended up not going for either of the songs we put up (these will still most likely be sent soon though) because we came across this alternative/indie sort of pop track by a singer from Brooklyn New York called Elliot Lee. She can sing, play bass AND draw she's multi talented. She has several songs up on her page and they all share a common message about loving the inner self which really is something we all can relate with. 'Pink' (Freak) is a catchy number that gets lodged in your head and is radio friendly as well.. We hope you like it and are hoping we can well with this.
Meh. I guess I take back what I said earlier this year about unexpected dnqs. I think this for me is up there as a sad flop, more so because it sounded like something that normally would do pretty well and also sounds like a song that could be on the radio. :'(
I think I'll go with what I had confirmed first before Elliott Lee next as tbf it's quite dark for Halloween season and their an act I've been listening to for a little while.
129: Night Club - Dear Enemy
Back to the electro synth for us this month but with a red head girl named Emily Kavanaugh. Mark Brooks being the other member of the duo brings this sophisticated, seductive sound. It's perfect for Halloween as is the one we're sending to the spin off. We've been listening to Night Club for practically most of the year and their songs do follow a similar beat but I don't think in our opinion they've put out anything bad, their videos are certainly ones that stick out in a intrigued way. As for how well we'll do is anyone's guess. Thinking this could very easily flop or it can do okay but we're not going to be too bothered as we are hooked on the song/them!
👿👿
Halloween 2020 : Night Club - Gossip
So yeah we have sent Night Club to both the main and spin off. Think it's a first but their music really fits in with Halloween season. Surprised nobody has sent them before. Such a cool band!
--
Also I forgot to mention but this is not related to Buzzjack but in fact Popjustice.. we happened to be stalking the forum lately (and recently joined there) and our eagle eyes spotted one of our non pop entries in the latest contest. 'Start of Something New' which came 7th!! *.* that's an astonishing result for a contest mainly catering for just pop entries. Well done to CHROM!
#votenightclub~
So the results for double Night Club were... 'Gossip' 18th in the Halloween spinoff which was a much better result in comparison to 'Dear Enemy', 31st, which ended up narrowly missing the bottom 10 (and so it should tbh). I was of course expecting top 30 for it but it's not the end of the world just falling one place shy.
Thanks to everyone who voted for Night Club especially a big thanks if you pointed both songs.
We have had our final entry of the year set a week or two ago and we also have two other fun backups but for the main choice it's a full on major bop in our opinion. All the songs are leaning to the poppier side but I they are songs I'm way more invested in.. in this area.
Looking to hopefully end things on a high nonetheless!
BJSC 130 - moistbreezy - Contact
#1 in my chart and top 40 in the Spotify Wrapped in under a month of finding
Perfect way for Summericia to end the year on <3
and so we have just finished our final contest of 2020 and are signing it out with a top 10 result. thanks to everyone who voted for it. Our nation completely understands that the artists name is quite bad but the song is what counts at the end of the day and the artist does have a couple of other bops too.
--
Summericia's 2020 results
121: Faouzia - Tears of Gold 6th
122: CAT - Moon Spells DNQ
123: Alice Gray - Take Me To The Water 32nd
124: Amy Peters - Salt DNQ (this was a bit surprising considering it finished 5th in popjustice months before)
125: CHROM - The Start of Something New 20th
126: Randy Domingues - Warrior 34th
127: KAS:ST - Hell On Earth 3rd
128: Elliot Lee - Pink (Freak) DNQ (this to get some retribution in rejects hopefully)
129: Night Club - Dear Enemy 31st
130: moistbreezy - Contact 9th
We also had Night Club 'Gossip' come 18th as mentioned before from the Halloween spinoff.
3 Top 10's and 3 DNQ's. Pretty darn good I'd say. 😍
Looking forward to next year and our belated 50th anniversary is on the horizon too. We have a couple of songs in the running for that but of course still a few months away!
131: VNV Nation - When Is The Future?
Not counting Night Club as they were sent to two contests that were running at the same time, this is the first self recycle to the main contest for us as we've opted for VNV Nation again. Think REM meets Depeche Mode for this as it's not a slow song by them this time round. 'Illusion' finished 21st in the semis for us in 2017 (a bit ironic timing as Amy Peters and Elliot Lee both finished there last year and have gotten through to the TBO quater finals currently ~)
This also finished inside my EOY top 10 for 2018 (#10). We're not expecting for this to be a hit or anything and also we didn't have any real strong options to kickstart a new year off really so this fit the bill after looking at newer songs and older tracks.
So the results were announced tonight and as luck turns out Frank revealed that Danaeviia were the victors of the first contest of 2021. A huge well done to them and they were our 18 so this was really satisfying for us. With all that said the runner up was... Summericia. *.*.* this was so unexpected as we went in with NO expectations. Normally we'd have a hunch that a song we sent would do big things Cathedrals, CRIM3S, KAS:ST, Faouzia & moistbreezy but this one we were expecting a dnq lol so my mind is truly blown over this. Possibly the most shocking good result ever in the nation of Summericia!
Thank you to FARC(18), Suedonia(18), Rolloland (18) (we know you loved 'Illusion' as well), Terra Avium, Persephonia, FSR Rontvia, Jadakissnia among others who pointed us over 10 points! Can't remember who else gave over 10 lol.
Justice for some of the countries that we pointed very highly that unfortunately underperformed especially Terra Avium
And now for 132 we don't have anything 'shrugs' but we are looking to for the time being leave this type of genre behind. Looking at something dance maybe?
Plus our anniversary is in two months and we have a song if it's allowed that we'd love to unleash.. a few of you will have heard it before specifically Iz!
132: Jessie Frye Ft Timecop1983 - Faded Memory
Summericia are pleased to announce that Jessie Frye and Timecop1983 will be bringing their synth waveness to the Danaevvia hosted contest this month. 'Faded Memory' was released in 2018 and is just one of the many Jessie songs we've been eyeing along with 'The One' which itself has been a potential numerous times for us since June last year but I figured FM will probably have the better shot at success and Jessie had not long ago come top 10 for Cor Lupus with the also sublime 'Ocean'. Summericia do feel confident with sending this following their runner up from VNV Nation last month. I guess nasty suprises do exist in BJSC so you can't always bank on being confident though. We also potentially were hoping for an AQ but those aren't always going to be promised. Turns out maybe it's for the better as we have a fair playing field and it's good for a song to go through the normal stages even if a bye to the final would've been a welcome treat.
Would like to add the video and song mesh perfectly imo and it's precisely what prompted me to send it!
Faded Memory finishes at a underperforming 24th place. Thanks for all the votes. We did hope for a bigger hit to add onto our 2nd place last month but honestly the competition was brutal this month so I can see why it ended up getting lost in the shuffle somewhat!
Also thought I'd point it out that Timecop 1983 is cursed with 24th too as he came there years ago with Aelandor in the final!
1 more stop until our anniversary and we have so many to choose from for the next contest. Nothing set in stone currently.
133 : Xenomania Presents Paige Cavell - Red Is The Way
We've opted to send a generic pop banger from Paige Cavell with help from Xenomania a successful songwriting and production team from Kent. They've produced for some big stars like Kylie, The Saturdays, Pet Shop Boys, Sugababes among others. Famous for writing all of but one of Girls Aloud's studio albums. Paige Cavell is an emerging London based singer-songwriter. Turns out both artists have been sent to BJSC before coming 12th for Vulkyria in 2019. We do seem to be on a trend of not being quite original this year :') We're not totally sure about our qualifying chances what with more nations taking part this time round and the unpredictability of BJSC nowadays so a Qualifier to match our record best 5 would be fab but regardless of what happens we hope to appeal to the masses in some way more importantly the pop fans!
Up to 5 qualifiers in a row *.* matching our longest streak from late 2019 to Jan 2020 (Ollie Wride, Covenant, Noburo, Manik & Faouzia). The pressure will be on next month with our 50th anniversary entry coming up next month.
Before that though we're on for a hopeful top half result somewhere especially if the odds are anything to go by.
Absolute banger
^ I knew you'd love this one Joseph!!
We came 3rd again joining KAS:ST who reached that placement in September last year & our 2nd top 3 position in 2021 (so far). Thanks to everyone who voted for it. The song outdid our expectations really.
Onto 134 and we've finally reached Summericia's 50th Anniversary (would have been August last year had we not had a couple of breaks in between).
I can confirm we will be sending a band I've seen live. We haven't gone for this genre in a long while also so looking to Q or Dnq in style *.*
Will edit video in later as on mobile.
So without further ado our anniversary entry is.. Halestorm with their edgy rock anthem 'Apocalyptic'. The song returns us to the rock/metal genre for the first time in a couple of years the track was a huge hit in my now defunct personal chart in 2015 reaching a peak of #7 and spending 13 weeks in the top 40. Finished 2015 as my 50th song (coincidence on the number without realising haha). I've also seen them live in 2018 at Brixton and they didn't even perform this song lmao but the fact that I saw them and have the album the track it's from is a worthy reason to send them as part of my anniversary entrant.
Our hopes for a qualifier are uncertain still as rock doesn't always qualify (look at KEYS&CAGES and Dorothy for example) that often but here's hoping the fact that some of the rockier nation's who landed in the same semi are able to help us out. Oh and our qualification streak is also on the line as we've matched our 5 Q streak from end of 2019.. if we do Q again we'll get a record best streak but we won't get too ahead of ourselves just yet!
Thank you all who voted Halestorm. We rocked out with a bang even if for Qualifying streak reasons it was a bit gutting to not make it.
135: MISSIO - I See You
Travelling to the Alternative genre this time with American Duo Missio representing Summericia.
It's a song I've returned to a fair bit in the past few months and decided to just go for it this month. I'm not expecting it to qualify at all but I'll keep some optimism as hopefully it connects with a good amount of people especially with the lyrics and video talking about ones mental health and the other person loving them through all their flaws and insecurities.
Oh my! I liked MISSIO back then with Twisted Such a bop and I hope I will enjoy this one too!
136: AJA - Red Button
#late post.. Summericia are being represented in BJSC 136 by 17 year old Canadian pop singer AJA. 'Red Button' is a catchy pop song with it's noticeable chorus line 'You get the red button when you call'. We are happy that this has returned us to the final after being absent for 4 months. We're hopeful for a decent result on Friday!
HYPE!
As previously hinted Harmonica tried to send this too. I'm glad that didn't cause it to be vetoed! Loving the attitude of the song, it has some 'good 4 u' energy which will surely bode well? Here's hoping!
137: The Mystery - Devotion (All I Ever Wanted)
Reaching back into old skool noughties trance with The Mystery and Devotion which reached #57 in the UK chart for one week. Funnily enough they also had another hit before that called... 'The Mystery' and charted at ... #56 for one week (one for Jordan and maybe Bre for random chart stats! ) it's a banger anyway and I've been replaying it tons since April and considered it as a entry for then which would have been my anniversary but I had already secured Halestorm two months prior.
You can also find it on an old trance masters album from the year it came out, 2002 as well. It's perhaps my favourite entry this year so far and I can't believe I hadn't heard it till this year either so a big discovery for myself here. Hopefully the dance bloc will be on board 😍
Yass The Mystery gets through to the final <3 thank you all!
Congrats to Aesthetica for winning and our 18 pointer as well (after getting only 5 from us in the semi as well *.)
34th (35th if BM voted) in last night's final deserved better but with trance on the decline I guess it should've been expected (not that I realised that was the case lol). Still it did come 6th in the semi so at least was a satisfying result there although it does seem rather baffling when Dobago and myself did poorly in the final...
On another note The Mystery is now my favourite entry sent this year along with our smash from January in 'When Is The Future'. Adore it so much
--
our entry for 138 will be revealed soon.
I’m a sucker for trance and this was such a great discovery for me (I was surprised at myself that I never heard it before). With that being said no way this deserved to finish that low…and I’m more surprised at the fact that it managed to finish Top 5 in semis and then completely bomb in final .
The most memorable thing about this entry was the impressively potato level quality of the video (I did like the song though in all seriousness, gave it a point in the semi and a commiseration in the final - deserved to do a bit better for sure. I'm not generally as into trance entries these days as I used to be though, I think the genre is just a little too samey so the entries don't stick out/feel fresh as much any more, with occasional exceptions)
138: Alice and the Glass Lake - Coals
Reaching back to an older potential of mine from 2016 for 138 with 'Coals' by Alice and the Glass Lake (Alice Lemke). I first saw this on school friend Kiesza's Facebook page at the time as she shared it to fans and explained that the song and video was Alice's farewell project before she passed away from Leukemia in 2015. It's really quite a stunning package and although I'm not expecting to come close to making the final (slight pessimism) I'm hoping it strikes a chord with some people anyway. The lyrics are inspiring too as well.
I do believe this isn't the first time she's been entered as she was sent in 2013 with a song called 'Luminous' that did make the final. Who knows like it could surprise but unlike my last couple of entries I'm not expecting much.
Video will be added later.

Unsurprisingly we kinda came 41st in the final and scraped through in the semi which I was surprised about anyway as I was expecting like 26th in the semi or something lol. We would have DNQ'ed anyway as we had a few non voters in the semi that were just outside the qualifying threshold. I wasn't really chasing a hit with this anyway as it was merely discovery only. Thanks to those who did vote it though as it's a lovely track.
Onto the next contest which will be hosted by Jadakissnia and well let's just say I think we could be back in favour with some nations again as we are opting for industrial cybergoth rave with a cool video to go along with it *.* surprised it's not been sent anywhere on Buzzjack yet as it's been around on Youtube since 2009!

Unsurprisingly we kinda came 41st in the final and scraped through in the semi which I was surprised about anyway as I was expecting like 26th in the semi or something lol. We would have DNQ'ed anyway as we had a few non voters in the semi that were just outside the qualifying threshold. I wasn't really chasing a hit with this as it was merely discovery only.
139: Eisenfunk - Pong
Changing up from our last entry genre wise with Eisenfunk and 'Pong'. As mentioned before its a cybergoth rave track and the video is fabulous too. Perfectly apt for Halloween sort of time too.
'Let's play pong'!
We are through and we love to see it too also taking our qualification streak up to 4 consecutive finalists now, nearly at our record best of 5. We are aiming to try and beat that too.
Well... this didn't go down quite as I expected it to and for the type of track that normally does well in the past too. I do admit it was a REALLY strong contest though and whilst I didn't get the Buzzjack Mountain comparison too much, it seems others saw it that way and that worked against us despite qualifying eep.
It's two consecutive days of avoiding bottom 3's for us as we also finished 22nd out of 25 in club bizarre as well. It's the third consecutive month we've finished in the bottom 10/5 area as well. Seems we've lost the spark a bit compared to the beginning of the year.. however depending on if anyone gets to it first I came across something that should turn things around possibly in a big way for next month but I do have to really on the pulse as I'm expecting some to discover and confirm it too and fingers crossed it doesn't get vetoed from too many people confirming it too so fingers crossed. I have a industrial 90's cover as an alternative if my first choice doesn't work but the song I found the other day sounds potentially like a big hit and the artist has come top 5 before!
On the positive side of the results Botanikka won with their excellent 'Midnight Rapture', fantastic use of Blondie mixed with a modern style pop banger. Very well done to them!
140: Lucianblomkamp Ft Ninjarachi - Pray4u
So after getting in real quick with an entry that we'll now push over to Jan now.. we've gone for this bop. 'Pray4U' is a techno PC track that immediately drew us in with its breakdown bits and the vocals parts are the cherry on top. We have drawn last in the semi as well so random.org certainly being very generous to us there.
I really hope this can finish the year off for us better as we gotten used to spending most of the latter part of the year just about qualifying so would be nice to have a more successful entry this time round. Hope you enjoy anyhow!
Yasss we're in now we just need a prayer to get out of that damned bottom 10 can't be a 3rd consecutive time there
The Mystery comes in at #1 on our most played 2021 on Spotify. Some redemption for trance *.* after not doing too well in BJSC in the summer whilst Alice and The Glass Lake also winds up at 3rd most listened to. On the other hand 'Pong' has mysteriously been taken off Spotify (6th on Wrapped played) seems a bit unusual as it's been on there for a long time, been listening to it for years lol.
BJSC/CB//UP entries in my top 100.
1. The Mystery - Devotion
2. BJSC Potential for 2022

So so so chuffed with 14th. Thank you all who voted for #pray4U <3
Echoing Codys comment in the results thread...Jan's contest really can't come quick enough. I've got so many potential hits ready.
XMAS entry 2021: Type O Negative - Red Water (Christmas Mourning)
First of all ditching the Summer from our country name for this contest as it doesn't fit with the season so introducing Wintericia for December spin off.
Next we enter I think our first Christmas contest with... not a cheery Christmas track at all American Goth Metal Band Type O Negative released this from their 1996 album October Rust. It's extremely melancholy lyric and music wise. I think they were pretty well known for being a depressive band in general by their subject matters. Frontman Peter Steele passed away in 2010 as well so if that wasn't more eerie enough then I don't know what is and perhaps the past near two years of Covid probably might work against us too. They are a band I didn't really come across until 2013 when my sister was blaring a couple of their tracks in her car as she's a huge metal fan anyway.
A
I really like the music element to this a lot hence why I went with it. You can find us in 2nd in the running order!
Much to our surprise Type O Negative placed at an very impressive 6th with 'Red Water' for the Christmas themed contest. Thanks to all who pointed it again!
Now moving onto our 57th entry and we've opted for UK producer Rameses B who makes his BJSC debut despite being around a little while now and he's joined by Canadian artist Veela who many will recognise from being in BJSC back in 2015 after Jadakissnia came top 10 with AK's 'Virtual Paradise' which we gave a LOT of points to. Can't remember if it was 18 or 15 now tbh lol but it was one of those. 'One Day' is a breezy, chilled out, awesome drum n bass track which spreads the message of hope and we can hope this can at least give us a splinter of hope of extending our Q streak and bring it up to 6. Hope y'all enjoy!!
(also Rolloland have sent Carpenter Brut as well *.* Talk about a well announced duo in one post lol. We have hopes it'll be as good as 'Turbo Killer' which underperformed against the odds at the time (came 22nd) which still stings somewhat. Maybe they can finally score a top 20 for his nation this time)
Yay for grabbing a new qualification streak record taking us up to 6 now, the DNQ/Borderline predictions did throw us a little bit after feeling fairly confident so we won't get our hopes up of doing well in the final but anywhere outside bottom 10 would be much appreciated just because we've ended up there a lot lately. x
and on subject of former artists Carpenter Brut also qualified. The question is.. will it be in my votes or not? We'll find out next week!
There was no way this was DNQ'ing imo, what an excellent entry!
142: Emancipator - Minor Cause
For 142 contest we are sending 'Minor Cause' by Canadian guru Emancipator. The song is absolutely glorious and the video which I would absolutely recommend too as the video that goes with it is sublime and stunning too. Perfect package really.
(Can't link the video here for the time being as my laptop is getting fixed by the engineer x)
Laptop back now and here's the video link with Ben Moon responsible for the amazing scenery. Also to add to this Ben also worked with Veela in the past as well and there's a song from 2012 with them lurking around on Youtube as well. Weird considering I just send Veela last month lol. Small world etc.
This is a wonderful entry from you Rob! I must say I’ve been really impressed with the quality of all your entries recently, they really appeal to my music taste and this month is no different, I’m a sucker for all styles of ambient music, and what I’ve sent this month is also in that genre (albeit a more slowed down version than this one) but it’s still great to discover instrumental pieces like this which reminds me that BJSC is a great platform for new discoveries! Splendid work again.
We're through to the final once again and remaining on a streak which takes us up to 7 now *.*
--
Thought I'd leave this here as this was a surprise looking on my Youtube this morning and very out of the blue random too especially considering I sent both artists last year.. Jessie Frye has uploaded a cover of 'Blood & Fire' which is by Type O Negative. Not a bad cover at that. Link below out of curiosity.
My childhood favourite being sent here
Okay after a little correction we ended up 7th in the end yass new position. For reference here's our top 10 positions and songs..
1 Cathedrals - Try to Fight
2 VNV Nation - When Is The Future?
3 KAS:ST - Hell on Earth & Paige Cavell/Xenomania - Red Is The Way
4 Brianna - Lost in Istanbul
5
6 Faouzia - Tears of Gold
7 Emancipator - Minor Cause
8
9 CRIM3S - still goin + moistbreezy - Contact
10 Caramell - Caramelldansen UK version
Just 5 & 7 remaining now. Time will tell if we can fill in either of those or not!
Was just going to come here to tell you you did get a unique position after all in case you didn't notice amid my ramble post haha. That scoreboard correction worked out nicely for both of us then as 9th was the unique position I needed as well *.* (and Joseph was getting a new position either way whether he was 7th or 8th x).
143 : Dolores Forever - Party In My Mind
It's not too common for us to opt for a UK act but we've gone ahead this month with London based female duo Dolores Forever and their song released in November last year 'Party In My Mind'. This did do very well in another contest but we're still not going into this contest with any big expectations especially when there does appear to be a fair share of pop and probably just as big sounding too... like Dylan's 'No Romeo' which ended up in the same semi and was one we were considering sending last month ourselves (and we actually had 'You're Not Harry Styles' submitted in January until we took it out as it felt a bit cheesy with the lyrics despite that being a bop too ).
You can find us in slot 12th, Semi One!
So the London gals give Summericia a new final position tonight of 12th place with 'Party In My Mind'. It was a fun read throughout even seeing us in the lead to start with at the beginning thanks to mainly pop voters though. We would like to thank Singerpurear ane Lotunia for their 18's towards us as well as everyone else who pointed it as it was obviously aimed at the pop bloc this month.
Our 18 was the wonderful 'Breathe' by The Slow Show courtesy of Niceland who this is the first time I recall giving my full amount of points towards. The song finished a bit too low for our liking but at least it wasn't bottom 10 like Trifoski odds put them down as.
Another of our top 3 came top 3 in the contest and that was of course Terra's cinematic film sounding 100th anniversary entry. In reality should have won but a 3rd place isn't something to groan about really either.
On other news Depeche Mode were entered as Rollo's anniversary entry and was a discovery in itself despite being a well known band obviously with classics like 'Personal Jesus', 'Just Can't Get Enough' & 'Enjoy The Silence'. The track was the other of my big 3 votes and finished just outside the top 20 which was reasonable enough but did deserve top 20 too imo.
Night Club former Summericia entrant which we gave 7 points too finished amazingly in the top 10 at 10th place. A bit of a groovy electro bop this was but alas too much stronger entries to bump it up any more.
--
As we move onto the next contest we have another switch in genre as we are going dark style dance with vocals sounding very Billie Eilish esque~
BJSC 144
We're going all in dark vibes dance sound here with Billie Eilish esque vocals. Not everyday we send a spoken dance track if I'm honest.
Masquerade results:
Former Summericia and St Burbia entrant Faouzia take away the win with 'Puppet' while our 2016 artist Genevieve landed in 31st. Not amongst the ideal pop artists Harmonica could have selected but it was an okish track for what it was, was expecting last for it tbh.
We got Kluminican Republic and chose Ben Böhmer and his 2017 8 minutes long subtle dance piece 'Purple Line' which interestingly features a Snow Patrol track 'The Lightning Strike' and wait for it.. that track is 16 minutes long, the one from their 2008 album. Unfortunately we just missed out on a top 20 coming 22nd but as mentioned in the results thread no bottom 10 is a result we can live with. For what it's worth 'Painting Pictures' was the other of his we considered but decided against it as we felt it was probably the most predictable option of his songs to send and wanting something no one or a couple may have heard from him, a obscure choice if you would.
Here's the link to the Snow Patrol song
16 min version on Spotify.
Aww I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the Genevieve track more I did make some decent discoveries listening to other artists that you probably would've liked more...and I guess I'm kicking myself a little for not sending Faouzia considering she won
^ yes I'm sure you were Jordan to think you could have got us that Masquerade win instead. Nevermind. I didn't hate it or anything just wasn't nearly as good as 'Colors' although to be fair I sent the remix of that over the plain version too
--
28th for us in the end. Positive thing is top 30 is okay with us despite hoping for top 20 but there was lots of pop domination to contend with so understandable I guess.
Next contest we were going to go for the majestic trance song I found last September but am going to hold that off again as evident by the contest not being too hugely dance successful and not wanting to risk my streak of 10 straight qualifiers which I'm trying to make sure happens because it'd be annoying to miss out one month of a whole year really.. I'm going to go for something that should secure a q I hope. All depends on if it shows up in the Pop Forum Contest that Awardinary is running or not as it's pop again and that seemed the popular genre in the latest bjsc contest too.
Recent Summericia entrants Dolores Forever have been revealed as Radio 1's BBC Introducing artist of the week with their song 'Baby Teeth' (not heard it myself)!
D'yermak'ers entry 'Sinner' also joining their C list. A good week for BJSC artists/songs!
Summericia are proud to announce that Swedish PC artist Namasenda with her PC ballad 'No Regrets' (I know, it's a drastic change of pace from her usual standards) into BJSC 145. She was entered once before in January last year by Fljovatik under the song 'Wanted' which finished 4th I Believe. It will be our 10th straight qualifier if it gets through which would be fab but of course we don't know what it's up against. She's somebody that's been on my radar since 2017 in fact as I was considering 'OK Bye' back then and I enjoyed that. It does have an official video on YouTube but I opted against that as it features gun shots and we all know the real life situation in the world with the war stuff so thought it'd be insensitive to put that in the link although I must say with all that aside it is a fantastic video. Instead of that we do have some guy doing a random rap towards the end and it's hard to tell if people will mind that or not. Hardly the best rapping really but I don't think it takes away from the overall song personally!
Second month in a row that you have sent one of my former Club Bizarre artists
I have heard this before but I don't particularly remember it so hopefully it'll stick with me more revisiting it now - that did happen with 'Wanted' iirc!
I hear N*Sync's It's Gonna Be Me in the verses to this!
We're through again taking our qualification streak up to 10 That means we've made the final every time since AJA's 'Red Button' which was sent last July!
Another 20th for us which at least is on the top half scoreboard so a successful result.
Thanks to Aeroche and Jupiterdonia for the 18's <3
146 : Hydrogen Child - Sirens
Wasn't quite sure the industrial was a good pick running alongside Club so went with a breezy pop number which sounds very much like Alphabeat meets Sheppard. Not totally certain on this keeping our streak up looking at our semi but hopefully not a complete no hope nonetheless!
We somehow qualified once again and with our Alphabeat esque enry. Really didn't see that coming especially when we assumed we shot ourselves in the foot voting late.
Good too see a 2016 potential I returned to getting in.
Now to vote on time for the final
To much of our surprise we came 11th with 199 points. Thanks muchly to Harmonica, Hushkanukia and Singerpurear for the 18's. Very much appreciated! Not bad going at all when I changed for this with 24 hours of the confirmations still open and then a deduction!
For next contest we have a couple of options but we're not set on what yet. Choosing wisely in hopes to now grab a 12th straight qualifier
147 Cazzi Opeia - You're My Sunshine
We are doing a rare occurrence of back to back pop, reminiscent of 2015/16 and opting for Swedish singer Cazzi Opeia with her summer pop bop 'You're My Sunshine', how apt with the sun and heat waves happening. It's a catchy number if I say so myself and she has settled in a pop semi too so here's hoping this will spark you up enough to vote it through!
Well we ended up 24th which is our 3rd time there after Ignea and Erika Jane finished before. Can't remember if there were any others lol. Did peg this as a safe top 20 I think but then with so much pop involved things went south for many.
Cazzi also goes from having two previous top 10's in BJSC to missing top 20 on her 3rd go around. Thanks to Kyriatine for their 18 and to others who enjoyed it.
Congrats to Hendinia again and our 18 finishing 4th which was their best ever result. So good stuff on those aspects. I did jinx Wardy though. I'm sorry x
--
aaand with that contest done we are heading away from pop and returning to trance with the song I've held off for a whole year due to the #tranceisdead times. This is stunning for me though so even if it does dnq and ends my impressive 12 Q Streak I'm going out with something I really adore (although it shouldn't imo).
148: Sean Tyas Ft Lo-Fi Sugar - The World (Darren Porter Remix)
We've been waiting for the time to return to trance again as it does seem to be a mixed genre for success in these contests but we've decided September was the right time to unleash this beauty. We've sat on it a whole year as well as it would have been too soon after The Mystery last year flopped in the final.
This just sends me to another world completely, the build throughout and the drop in it is otherworldly imo and it's very easily surpassed my other trance entries too to be my favorite of the lot. It deserves to do well imo but I'm prepared to expect it not making it too because of said aforementioned mixed success that trance does in BJSC.
Anyway enjoy the full 8 minute version *.*
We made the final which takes our Q streak up another notch to 13. Must say I'm impressed when I've had a couple of unexpected songs get through really lmao. We will be in 38th spot so a very satisfying area for our wonderful trance entry <3 Now we just need a decent showing next week just to keep trance on the ground x
'The World' ended up at 25th for us falling 5 shy of our hopes for a top half finish which it deserved imo. The taste was lacking in the end but thanks for the nations that did vote for it including Zanmatony, Pestolia and Arcodesia for the 18's and Botanikka and Danaeviia for the 15's. Trance nations sticking together.
I was kinda waiting on this big trance song to send to see me off onto another hiatus and had expectations of being a bit bigger a success than it was ngl.
However as for the hiatus.. it can't be as I'm in the middle of a Q streak and there's two contests remaining of the year so it has become a mission to now try and complete a full year calendar year of Q's if it's possible.
Please don’t go on a hiatus. I need good entries and you’re one of the most reliable for them.
BJSC 149
Sending something a bit more risky this month and it's got really low vocals and dark vibes.
Well we are going for a double dose of very dark orientated entries this month with our Halloween Spin Off Entry being Crosses with 'Bitches Brew'!
Check out here
To the shock of no one your main contest entry is your best for ages for me excited for your Halloween entry too, have really enjoyed everything else I have heard from them! (I saw they dropped a new song just yesterday as well, the timing)
Also aw at you potentially taking a break again soon D: hope you won't be gone for too long if you do ~
Congrats on qualifying *.* I am loving both your main contest and Halloween entries right now, so Summericia on form
150 Madison Rose - Thunder
Finishing up our 2022 year (aside from Nuggets) with Madison Rose with her dance floor pop bop 'Thunder'. She's been entered twice before this year but I was only aware of one song of hers as I wasn't in the semi that 'ICONIC' was sent and DNQ'ed in (plus the songs list not updating also wouldn't have known heh). I admit to not pointing 'Better Off Alone' nor commiserating it at the time either as something wasn't quite clicking with it for me but having listened to that last week again it's luckily grown on me a lot now.
Anyway... here's 'Thunder'.
We did it. We managed a full year qualification streak (added onto the 5 last year we were already on) taking things up to 15!
4 years and 4 months later we bag a 2nd BJSC Win thanks to all who gave Madison love! As a result of our win we will recieve an AQ so no pressure there! *.* Fantastic way to top off a calender year of qualifiers too!
Congrats Rob for the win. It was a great discovery for me
Big congratulations Rob! I was waiting for you to win again, with so many consecutive qualifications and a few top three hits since your last win, it felt like it was bound to happen sooner rather than later.
This is a great pop song, as I've remarked elsewhere to you it sounds like something The Saturdays would have smashed with in their heyday. I'm not surprised it thumped the competition.
Well, you can’t be taking a hiatus now!
Fantastic winner
151 // Nabihal Iqbal - Zone 1 to 6000
Summericia are proud to enter our auto qualifier entry Nabihal Iqbal with the 'Zone 1 to 6000' which production wise has been compared to 'West End Girls' by the Pet Shop Boys, she gives off M.I.A. and slight RAYE vibes to me as well and also Real Lies a bit too. It's an interesting track I think and the video is very captivating too with shots of her running down the London streets. A quick wikipedia research also tells me she helped lend herself to SOPHIE's earlier material too. She also does radio shows for BBC Asian too!
Another win My 3rd one overall and first back to back *.* thanks all who shoved points my way especially thanks to Fljovatik, Pestolia, FSR Rontvia, Rolloland, Utopia? & someone else (memory has gone already). Really thrilled to finally get an more diverse sounding entry win as well.
It's been an extremely positive month throughout not just BJSC but elsewhere on the site bagging an award (first in 14 years) and mod role. Feels like a lot to be grateful for right now all round.
It also means I have the distinction of having another another AQ too *.* so I'll get searching for another good one hopefully.
Also I have agreed to hosting.. some part of it anyway so keep your eyes pealed!
Jupiterdonia were the other one who gave you an 18 this time.
Very happy that this won for you though waving goodbye to you as company in the 2 wins club after just one month
Oh course thanks Jupiter too who I saw posting about it last night
152 // Planet 1999 - Party
Enjoy the retro feel to this with the 99/00's nostalgia video including Furbies which I did a thread on in the 00's
omgggg nostalgia Emancipator who?
Wasn't a 3rd win in a row but I was expecting that to happen at all lmao. Pleased to finish 10th with 'Party' though! Thanks to those who pointed it
Think I actually like this a little more than Nabihah tbh (it was a song I'd already heard but definitely clicked with me more in the contest!) so would not have complained if the triple win happened tbh x But yay for another top 10 anyway *.*
(Also have to stan the ikonek Furby cameo in the video x)
153 : Moa Pillar Ywko - Volvo
Enjoy some unexpected Russian trance
'Ywko' ddd
If you want to type that artist name in non-Cyrillic letters it'd be 'Ushko'
i’m glad to see this in the contest, it was on my potentials list at some point but seems v summericia so glad to see it!
Congrats Rob, in no way did this deserve to be the song to end your streak, so I'm glad it hasn't!
My Qualification Streak Chart Run since it began in July 2021 with 'Red Button'..
21-34-41-37-14-40-07-12-28-20-11-24-26-18-01-01-10-33
I did edit Eisenfunk into my position have you received as they were left off weirdly by me. What a rocky start with all those bottom 5/10's up until the past 12 months or so minus this contests where I returned to bottom 10!
154
I confirmed this back in February but changed my mind to enter it to a later contest and voila here it is Golin with 'Rowdy'. Its already been a top 3 hit in my personal chart and isn't one I've drifted from too much. Still sounds banging to me. We are slotted in semi 2 and hope this continues as it doesn't sound like a flop to my ears.
Golin are Rowdying it up to a 19th straight Qualifier!
155
For 155 we've sent popular electronic French Duo Minuit Machine and 'Contradictions'. They of course have already been sent by Persephonia in the past where they came 2nd in 2020 with 'Don't Run From The Fire' which we pointed highly, can't remember if it mightve even been my 18 or not.
Anyhow this is one from their latest material which came out around September of last year!
Rounding off two full years of qualifying I'm sure I won't have been far off 21st though lol.
Thanks for taking me through again!
26th for 'Contradictions' we ended up which was a reasonable result I found. Shall start looking for July entry soon!
156
Enjoy some pop and jungle beats + rap
Yasss, with Jade almost sending Final Notice and I considered White City and its wacky video. But this is another good one, I've got my eye firmly on Willow, she should be as big as Venbee really.
I don't think your Q streak is ending with this one anyway.
Funny that we have General Levy features in back to back contests!
157
A catchy pop track from Los Angeles artist Chappell Roan has the honour of representing us for the 157th BJSC Contest. She's already been sent twice before and both were also great pop tracks from her. She was at the start of 2018 someone I was eyeing up entering but figured her music sound then defo wouldn't see it out of a semi so here's hoping it she makes it through with a solid bop like this
Magician Katrina Kroetch appears in the video too!
We qualified once again, extending our personal record breaking streak to 22 Q's in a row!
Also because I'm a prat I should have updated my songs results each contest so this is taking me some time to have to delve through and put them down haha! Will put those into the first page when I do!
158. Lucia & The Best Boys - Burning Castles
"Time Goes Slowly, Time Goes Fast"
This contest we're sending the fab Lucia & The Best Boys with their recent track 'Burning Castles'. Some will already know this as we see it in personal charts and it also made the multichart last week as well so it should likely do well for us I'd imagine. Brilliant track if I say so myself and the chorus and intro I can't get out of my head!
Didn't see it posted in full anywhere but here was my Votes + commiserations!

And we won again. Just when we were qualifying but bottom 10 for the last few months we pulled it right up there! Thank you to all the voters and especially the nations who gave us 18!! We won't be hosting unfortunately but we do have our streak already notch up to 24 as we have the automatic AQ. Which means I could send something with no pressure on xx
159 AQ entry - Blutengel - You Walk Away
Decided to go down the industrialish route for my AQ this time and it does have a nice Halloween goth vibe to it without sounding scary at all really. It's been 5 years since I sent Blutengel to the Halloween spinoff where that entry came 10th! This one I had been listening to as a potential dating back as far as February 2017!
22nd for Blutengel which is the second time we finished there after Carpenter Brut in 2017!

For the final contest of 2023 we are sending crosses (+++) with 'The Beginning Of The End' which is something we were spamming a lot in 2021. It's a cover of the Cause & Effect song from 1992. Crosses have been around since 2011 and is Deftones lead singers Chino Moreno's side project. It's the second month running we've sent a act we already sent to a Spin off (Halloween again funnily enough). The mission is to try and be more inspired with our picks going in 2024 but we're hoping this song won't be the beginning of the end for our impressive streak and at the final one of 2023!
and I oop. RIP streak I think unlike Fljovatik's entry of the same title a few months ago this one was perhaps pushing it when I was on such a long run and also is definitely a good reminder not to keep self recycling but honestly I had nothing else this month and very almost decided to end it myself by sitting out lol!
Honestly though from July 2021 to November 2023 I would have never have imagined keeping up such an impressive streak with so many close calls at many a time.
As for what's next now we are sitting on the outside watching in for the first time in over two years... who knows!
This was completely and utterly robbed wtf

Not gonna lie I'm not expecting a Q here and that's not necessarily the aim as I stumbled across this at the end of November and thought it just sounds so cool and fun to me so I'm sending it because it's fun. Enjoy some Russian Folk Pirate Metal from Arkona with 'Yarilo' ⚓️
BJSC 162 - Allison Iraheta - Friday I'll Be Over You
For this contest we'll be turning back the clock to 2009 and we are sending Allison Iraheta who finished 4th in American Idol. The same one that Adam Lambert took part in and came runner up and I remember being sad she didn't make the final 3. The season was ultimately won by Kris Allen!
It has hints of Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry that I mentioned in the confirmations. Again not absolutely positive in a Q but it's another fun one to send for me so here we are
I remember buying this on iTunes forever ago
Omg
Me misspelling Allison Iraheta all the time during the prep (Alison Ireheta, Allison Ireheta, Alison Iraheta, Allison Irehata)

Liking this one, it's like a Kenya Grace song only with a better vocalist.
This is kinda D’yermak’er coded?
Love this one! Very something I would’ve sent if I had discovered it first
The Summericia fan club are in force this month!
Thanks guys. Chuffed to scratch that 5th placing off that had been alluding me for so long. Just need an 8th now I think to complete the top 10!
In other news 'Red Wine Supernova' has entered the UK Spotify top 200 this week off the back of Chappell Roan's latest track 'Good Luck, Babe' which already gave Chappell her first UK top 100 hit last week when it entered at 64.
As for our next BJSC entry.. that'll be revealed tomorrow presumably and is from 2001!
