UK Chart Run: 6-6-6-4-3-1-1-2-2-3-3-10-11-20-29-40-35-45-60-56-59-60-70-X-60 (24 weeks) It was an extremely close affair with one vote in it but British R&B singer Mark Morrison bows out with the bronze medal. Mark had scored 2 UK top 40 hits in 1995 from his soon-to-be-released debut album before striking gold on single #3, the titular track. The song, which, among many others, sampled Tom Tom Club's Genius Of Love, entered at #6 but eventually climbed to #1 after a month and spent 12 total weeks in the top 10. Morrison would manage several more top 10 singles within the next year but never scaled the same heights. His signature song has itself been sampled and covered numerous times, most notably by Swedish DJ Nevada in 2016, a #14 hit that year. Last round, voting begins now. Both are seminal records in their own ways but it's an easy vote for Robert Miles

'Children' for the win for me but 'Wannabe' is a bona-fide girl group classic too.

Well Children was always going to win whatever it was up against but for me should have been that vs 2b1 in the final.

Pfft at Spices surviving over Mark.
'Children' to win obvz (we need the appreciation for the original as that awful Switch Disco remake of it threatens to become a hit). Lol that it really did just basically have the same 3 people voting it out in every round but never any more than that. |

First round in the entire thing where I don’t have to vote for Wannabe!

Robert Miles!
What a chart run for ‘Return of the Mack’ as late as 1996 as well! |

Oh wow, I don't think I've ever seen such a one sided result as this is so far.
I'm sure the Spice fans will come out soon enough though |

If Wannabe does win this we'd now need the highest number of votes ever seen in one of these for a start.

Not as one sided as it was looking earlier. Expecting Wannabe to make up some ground.

After 1 vote in the first 20, Wannabe has had the last 5!

I’ve thrown my vote to… Robert Miles!
I just wish certain artists wouldn’t touch this classic piece of music. |
