A collaborative effort between Gaga, Fernando Garibay, DJ White Shadow, Paul Blair, and Cheche Alara, "Americano" was influenced by the events surrounding the repeal of the controversial California Proposition 8—a ballot proposition that defined marriage as a union between opposite-sex couples, thereby prohibiting and invalidating same-sex marriage throughout the state—as well as the growing struggles of Mexican immigrants. "The song was directly inspired by events that happened that day," recalled Garibay, in his interview with MTV. "It was in August, in the middle of summer, last year, and it was when Prop 8 was overturned in California. And there was a lot happening with immigration and the border issues and she pushed, she said she wanted to make this song really Mexican, with the struggle the Mexican people have gone through for freedom, for a better life, and so those ideas are directly implemented in the song." Gaga, an ardent opponent of the law, was compelled to create new music following the repeal of Proposition 8. The singer's main objective was to "go full on Mexicano", a sentiment that Garibay was not used to hearing, as most people in the music industry professed that Latin-inspired music was "a bit cheesy". According to the producer, "We started with me on guitar and her on piano, kind of wrote the lyric on the spot, and she sang it all the way through, and that's how the song was born." The first one i'm not 100% loving but it's still solid (at least it is now, i remember it being one of the few i'd skip on there at the time).
GAH forgot about 'Heavy Metal Lover' too so obviously going to get some big casualities. Also rooting for underdogs that will have no chance in 'I Like It Rough' and 'Paper Gangsta'. FameGa represent

Only four of my noms going through so far
 Disappointing. I'm really annoyed I forgot to vote for 'Boys Boys Boys', it somehow passed me by when scanning over the songs despite being my 3rd favourite song on The Fame. Silly me.

Filling up that second last place in the quarter finals is the cheating hoe on the loose 'Sexxx Dreams' with 8 nominations. Bet the bitter Shaniquas and Cucumberellas are pressed that ARTPOP has managed to produce not none but FOUR of the quarter finalists ;o
 It is written and produced by Gaga and DJ White Shadow. Gaga explained the song's meaning in the track-by-rack album review saying that it's literally about sex dreams. It started out to be groovy, she spent a lot of time with the producers creating the groovy rhythm of the song. She said that people involved in it weren't sure at first what she meant to say with the song when she first started writing it. The song went through a lot of changes while being produced but the chorus always remained the same because Gaga liked it and didn't want to alter it. She continues saying that she alternates between speaking and singing the lyrics, talking to one person while singing and to other while speaking and it reverses in the second verse. The persons she's talking to are her imaginary boyfriend and girlfriend and a person she dreams about and she added that being in that situations seems slightly criminal to her. It is also about her own dreams which are 'freaky and out-there', taking the listener on a journey through her mind and thoughts. Apparently a big highlight at artRAVE.
