who is on the best form?
I generally think in the National, form goes completely out of the window, with such a huge field all it takes is one bad jump from a horse in front of you and it can either cause the horse to fall of hamper the horse and then it is rare they ever account for that.
My usual go to is to look for a horse that can go for distance and keep up with a moderate pace. Usually I always manage to get a horse in the places or just outside with this tactic!
Grand National still going ahead following the passing of Prince Philip.
£10 on Minella Times and £1 on Ballyoptic (per the Sweepstake)
Given my usual rules about only betting on any horses that a) have music-y names, and b) refer to my name, I've stuck £5 e/w on both Chris's Dream & Acapella Bourgeois. There were no horses that matched my other requirements, c) have a Catholic-y name, or d) have a Japanese name.
I normally go with a horse with a 'M' at the beginning, previous form over 3m.
Come through for me Alpha Des Obeaux!
Congratulations Rachael Blackmore the first female jockey to win the Grand National.
Oh wow, I had £5 on Minella Times. Looks like the beers are on me and Dobbo tonight lads! *.*
Well done to those who got on the winner, I was on Saint Burrows, didn't have enough in the tank!
Weird race, the horse that led for most it set an absolutely ridiculous pace. Cloth Cap pulling up was a strange one, I thought it was running really well (although would never ever have backed it at 4/1) although it couldn't set the pace.
Sad news regarding The Long Mile.
