Posted by: HausofKubrick 29th August 2016, 05:22 PM

So this got delayed lol. He cancelled loads of shows in the UK to finish the album off so no idea what is going on sad.gif

Posted by: Cremey 2nd September 2016, 08:19 PM

This is finally out.

And CASSIE features on a track OH MY LORD. Too excited.

Posted by: HausofKubrick 2nd September 2016, 09:03 PM

Cassie and James Blake contribute too but aren't featured.

CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR THIS IN FULL.

Posted by: Cremey 2nd September 2016, 09:09 PM

Yeah, the artwork is amazing. Nick Knight always brings it (except with Gaga, ha)

About to have my first listen, eeee.
So many great featured artists!
Supposedly Cassie has contributed to TWO tracks – 'SDP Interlude' and 'Lose'

Posted by: HausofKubrick 2nd September 2016, 09:27 PM

Wait MADONNA features too? She has contributed to/ has vocals on 'Lose' apparently??

Posted by: Cremey 2nd September 2016, 09:50 PM

I think that's just Cassie on 'Lose' but her vocals are distorted and she does sound quite Madonna-esque on it in parts!
Apparently 'SDP Interlude' includes interpolations of 'Lucky Star' though?

Posted by: HausofKubrick 2nd September 2016, 10:01 PM

He did thank Madonna on his longlist tweet with all the people involved on the record so i'm intrigued to see what her involvement is (or if Lucky Star features that would be *.* enough). I just need to listen but might not be able to until tomorrow or Sunday sad.gif Let me know how it is!!

AOTY.

Just putting it out there.

This was everything I was hoping 'Rodeo' would be and more. The Cudi track, the Cassie, Kendrick, André 3000 and Bryson Tiller features, the inclusion of 'Pick Up the Phone'...oh my lord this album is incredible 🙌🏼

Posted by: Cremey 4th September 2016, 01:17 AM

Can't get over this Cudi track, oh my lord. The 'Day 'N' Nite' lyrics... 🙌🏼

Posted by: HausofKubrick 4th September 2016, 04:23 AM

Yess

Posted by: Cremey 4th September 2016, 01:52 PM

'Stroke my cactus' = my favourite line of the year 😂

Posted by: HausofKubrick 4th September 2016, 03:07 PM

Yeah this album is absolutely brilliant. I loved 'Rodeo' but at times it was a bit too MANIC which worked but this definitely seems more controlled and guided. The production is amazing throughout and I love the features.

I felt like I was listening to a pseudo-Cudi record at times then this came. I love how he's littered the album's inspirations throughout it so explicitly. So many throwbacks <3

This review from Billboard is spot on: http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/hip-hop/7495437/travis-scott-birds-in-the-trap-sing-mcknight-first-listen

QUOTE
While Rodeo -- and even his previous releases, 2014's Days Before Rodeo and 2013's Owl Pharaoh -- have became a sound board for Scott's frustrations with the music industry and making it out of his native Missouri ("Mo") City, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight has little to do with chirping animals or R&B veteran Brian McKnight but hones in on Scott, an artist who has mastered the art of self expression with dark yet liberating tracks. His intricate layering of beats and vocals often make one track sound like three in a way that doesn't diminish the overall quality or feel but instead allow Scott's story to play out like a sonic motion picture.

I really can't stop with most tracks on this. It's hit me quite hard. My favourite is 'Through The Late Night' but it is really a solid album on the whole and one i'll be returning to often.

I was thinking it also really needs music videos/visuals because it's quite a cinematic listen but i've only found one music video so far:

Posted by: HausofKubrick 4th September 2016, 08:45 PM

Omg it could be set to get to #1 in the US. SO IT'S NOT JUST ME AND CREMEY LOVING THIS !!

Posted by: Cremey 4th September 2016, 08:53 PM

Hahaha until you said that I hadn't realised this thread consists of posts from just us two :')
Glad it's looking like it'll be a #1 for him! ohmy.gif

Have had this on repeat all day, so so good. Definitely agree on the visuals! I haven't seen the 'Pick Up the Phone' video yet but I'll check it outtt.

Apparently there's set to be a film alongside the album though, that would be perfect!

QUOTE
“The thing with [Mc]Knight is just, you know, some play shit,” Scott said. “You know I’m always into film and I’m doing a short film with this album. I’m putting that out with the album. That’s also what’s taking it so long. I just shot it and shit. And it’s like a long, lengthy film. It’s all the shit that I’ve been doing. All this innovative shit I just wanna do. And there’s even more shit that I’m not gonna speak on now to be impactful.”

'I'm putting that out with the album'...uhhh sure you are, Travis :')
Hopefully it's coming soon though!

Loving this album more and more the more I listen. 'Through the Late Night', 'Goosebumps' and 'SDP Interlude' are my huge favourites <3

Posted by: HausofKubrick 11th September 2016, 08:45 PM

#1 in the US! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Cremey 15th September 2016, 09:39 PM

YES @ the name change 🙌🏼
And YES @ this being a US #1 for him. Thoroughly deserved.

Posted by: HausofTravis 19th September 2016, 05:07 PM

I really can't get over this album. It's gone from "this album is SO GOOD" to "this album is so well accomplished and put together i'm sure i'll be listening for YEARS". The tracks keep on growing on me, it's probably only 'First Take' that I don't really remember how it goes!

In a year where male urban artists (naming no names) have mostly disappointed me, he has come and really surpassed them all with a bit of a masterpiece. 'Pick Up The Phone' is FANTASTIC, when the title of the album is fed in, it's goosebump worthy and the whole thing starts piecing together. It doesn't have the gigantic messages that recent urban albums try to have, it's just wall-to-wall bangers and smash hits. A really electrifying listen and *insert every other hyperbolic praise I can give it*

This is the album Kanye and Frank (naming names) wish they'd made.

Posted by: Cremey 22nd September 2016, 10:35 PM

Completely agreed on all points! Such a ridiculously strong album from start to finish, I can hardly fault it. I've decided it's such a NIGHT album (all through the late night :')), absolutely adore listening to it on the way back from an evening out or walking back in the dark. So much atmosphere built within each track. Don't think I could pick a favourite because it's all so perfect, but the second half of 'Way Back' is 🔥🔥🔥

Just when you thought Travis Scott would take a break from releasing new music, La Flame has returned with a Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight followup dubbed Days Before Birds.

The ‘b-side’ project features the likes of PARTYNEXTDOOR, Migos, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert and more. Having previously mentioned that the Lil Uzi Vert track “Raw Raw” wasn’t finished in time to make the BITTSM cut, it’s safe to assume that this collection of tracks were all recorded during the creation of his major album release.

!!!!

Good God, I'm still trying to get over the incredibleness of the original 😭😭

Posted by: Hauspital* 24th April 2020, 10:24 AM

Still his best album / one of the best hiphop albums of the past decade. clap.gif Even all these years later, I still get chills throughout the album as if it was the first listen through.
