Bradley Wiggins has criticised Team Sky, stating 'Go somewhere else, because they'll ruin you'. Honestly I don't fully disagree, no-one in the Sky team really gets much glory in the big tours unless your Froome, I've seen riders capable of Top 10 finishes being demoted to domestiques at Sky.

In other news, Mark Cavendish has concussion and a whiplash injury following a crash on the Abu Dhabi tour. Hope he's okay.

Laura Kenny has helped GB win silver in the women's team pursuit at the Track Cycling World Championships in her first major event since giving birth six months ago.

Former cyclist Victoria Pendleton was just interviewed on BBC Breakfast about climbing up Everest in May - good luck to her ohmy.gif

In other news, Sky have been hit with another drug scandal rolleyes.gif This time they're crossing an 'ethical line' with performance-enhancing substances.

Posted by: Mack. 10th March 2018, 08:35 AM

Cavendish looked in a sorry state as he rode in on a road bike folllowing that crash probably better for the rest of his season that he did not struggle on injured.

So the Tour de Yorkshire's starting next Thursday cheer.gif Will anyone be watching? They've extended it to four days this year - glad they've got some hilly stages before the final stage as well, should certainly mix it up a bit.

Posted by: Mack. 28th April 2018, 03:27 PM

I'll be watching, should be good.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 4th May 2018, 09:37 PM

Just finished watching Stage 1 - a really good stage! Great to see the break stay away, it hardly ever happens nowadays and congrats Tanfield on the victory!

To be honest it would be nice to see someone else win it. Here's hoping for at least a bit of competition.

South African Daryl Impey won the first stage of the Criterium du Dauphine in a sprint finish.

The Mitchelton-Scott rider, 33, beat Julian Alaphilippe and Pascal Ackermann on the 179km stage from Valence to Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert

Team Sky rider Gianni Moscon has been banned for five weeks by the UCI, after he tried to hit another rider during stage 15 of this year's Tour de France.

Irish cycling team Aqua Blue Sport have folded today after not being invited to any of this year's Grand Tours sad.gif

Anyone else watching the Tour of Britain? Greipel won the first sprint stage, and Meyer won the second stage from the breakaway just seconds away from the chase group! Tonelli takes the leader's jersey though, finishing just behind Meyer after being in the break with him all day.

Both Thomas and Froome are clearly riding for leader Wout Poels (7th in GC) - Thomas is 3 minutes back and Froome 12 minutes back ohmy.gif

Posted by: Mack. 4th September 2018, 10:42 AM

Yes, I've been catching bits of this. Yesterday was a really good stage, excellent last 40k.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 4th September 2018, 08:59 PM

Julian Alaphilippe wins the sprint in Stage 3! Bevin, who finished second, takes the jersey while Meyer (yesterday's winner) stays in 2nd. Tonelli falls to 25th.

Simon Yates and his twin brother Adam will lead Britain's men's team at the Road World Championships in Austria which starts on the 22nd September.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 15th September 2018, 05:00 PM

Must've missed posting about the Tour of Britain finale - Alaphillipe won, somewhat predictably tongue.gif

Interesting to not include Froome & Thomas in the World Championship team but I guess they're probably both quite tired after the seasons they've had. And with Simon Yates doing so well at the Vuelta he's a great fit.

TV coverage of the World Champs is split between Eurosport and the BBC. Eurosport has full coverage of all the time trials and the minor road races, but the Men's and Women's Road Races next weekend are BBC only.

Posted by: PeteLeftLeeds 25th September 2018, 06:19 PM

That's pretty annoying as someone who doesn't have access to Eurosport. Although with one TV between 12 of us chances are I won't get to watch it at all sad.gif

Posted by: Mack. 26th September 2018, 03:08 PM

Australia's Rohan Dennis has won the men's individual time trial.

Sorry my mistake, the men's individual time trial was available to watch on the BBC website.

A mixed time trial relay will be introduced for the first time for next year's Road World Championships in Yorkshire.

Nice to see it in Leeds again (although hardly unexpected) - would love it to come up to York but somehow I can't see it happening sad.gif
