It's 15 years since Kylie released her second major compilation album, Ultimate Kylie. The collection was positively received by critics and fans alike: it was a chance to recognise the musical progression throughout Kylie's career and allowed newer fans to discover her earlier work. A strong promotional campaign was set out in the lead up to Christmas, including classic hits and lead single 'I Believe in You', and the following year saw Kylie plan an extensive greatest hits tour.

What are your favourite memories of this era? Which performance is best? Were you happy the tracking list? Share your thoughts below!

It was a good comprehensive release then and I liked it, love that it's now a million seller although I found it slightly disappointing it got no higher than number 4 and 8 here in Ireland but did well here to. It should never have been discontinued though as it missed out on sales by doing that.

This was a very successful release for Kylie and the timing of the release of very good.
It will be an album i most likely wont be playing again now that the very comprehensive Step Back in Time has come our way.
That said, Ultimate Kylie offered slightly more excitement due to the addition of both the brilliant I Believe In You and Giving You Up.
I completely agree, the album should never have been discontinued.

Purchasing this collection as a kid allowed me to discover some of her past hits for the first time. I loved the split between the PWL and DeCon/Parlophone and thought the songs flowed into each other really well. It's pretty obsolete now we have Step Back in Time, but I still have a lot of special memories attached to this album.

A shame it was discontinued, I feel like it would have done really well during 2010 and probably have reached 1.2m. Thank God we finally have a readily available definitive collection again.

The best performance from the era was easily the Christmas Day TOTP medley, but I think all of the performances were faultless. 'I Believe in You' slayed live for sure.

The medley was great, it is probably one of her best medley performances along with an Audience with Kylie (the original)

If it wasn't discontinued I think it would have at least 100k more sales by now.

I bought this double CD. Excellent collection.

Didn't realise it had been deleted but suppose it made sense to concentrate sales on the new GH collection.

It's been deleted a few years which probably helped the very best of release to pick up a few sales. From her mainstream greatest hits releases that was the most pointless one. Ultimate kylie when released was a good offering and worth buying. During that time though the material such as I believe in you and giving you up was great and I'd have loved an album of that style of music.

This was a great collection for its time, covered her career pretty well up to that point, although I do feel that they could have easily included a few more tracks like 'Finer Feelings' for disc 1 (which always seems to get left off) & 'Your Disco Needs You' (thank god this got added to "SBIT"). But still a really good compilation & the 2 new track were really great, although again wish they added more such as 'B.P.M' & 'Made of Glass', both of which were killer.

This collection is definitely an essential must have for Kylie fans.

The addition of songs such as B.P.M' & 'Made of Glass' along with many others could have made the latest release of SBIT very special for fans.

Completely agree, I do think that's something kylie would have also preferred.

Maybe when the 4cd version gets released, those songs will get added.

Disc 2 on this was really very strong indeed at the time, only let down by the radio edit of Confide in Me instead of the full thing.

It's great that it's one of her 4 million sellers, it really deserved it.

It richly deserved those sales and more.
Without the discontinuation, sales would be even more, but, nevertheless, it sold well.
I would have liked the album to have had Top 3 peak instead of just missing out.
