Here we are, the final part of the competition. A good old-fashioned results countdown. Containing nearly every song we love from the last 10 years. Out of the 500 songs we spent the last 5 weeks ranking (and the 5 weeks before that adding to), the top 200 will be presented here. The order of the top 100 is yet to be decided, so you can still vote in the current rounds if they happen to be still open. Do that.

We must have had over 70 unique voters across the whole competition, so thanks for making the competition a success once again, whether you were an everpresent sight in the threads, you only voted in one or two rounds or I was badgering you over various IM systems to vote every week. Me and Bré will be revealing the songs over the next two and a half weeks or so.

And then eventually we'll crown your winner. Which obviously I don't know yet, but whatever it is will join the list below to become the 9th (well, 6th if you don't count repeats and it isn't Bad Romance, Toxic, Bleeding Love or With Every Heartbeat) winner of the title:

that fall for 'Set the Fire to...' is absolutely unacceptable. WHY

(I think I failed to vote in that round but it can't be my fault exclusively)

Set The Fire To The Third Bar relied on a few (but significant) number of voters giving it very high points last year to get to the final. Some of them have left, some of them, like you, missed that round, really shows how results can change even if it isn't one of the songs I wanted to move at all. sad.gif

~

In all cases:
This Year / Last Year / Year / Artist / Song / Points in round / Voters in round / Average points received / Chart Run

200 425 2006 Kooks - Naďve 183 43 4.256 (X - X - X - X - X - X - X - 200)
199 79 2006 Nelly Furtado - All Good Things (Come To An End) 183 43 4.256 (X - 27 - 73 - 166 - 168 - 50 - 79 - 199)
198 128 2010 Tinie Tempah - Pass Out 196 46 4.261 (123 - 83 - 128 - 198)
197 NE 2013 Miley Cyrus - We Can't Stop 239 56 4.268 (197)
196 NE 2006 Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway 184 43 4.279 (X - X - X - X - X - X - X - 196)

Rather unusually, the top 200 kicks off with the highest climber of the whole thing, The Kooks' debut single Naďve. They've seen a huge resurgence with their two big songs this year, so much so I'd almost think Buzzjack had accepted alt rock were it not for the other results. It is one of the great anthems of its period so I'm glad to see Buzzjack finally recognise it (even if it isn't my favourite Kooks song).

A rare example of an accepted dancefloor rap anthem comes up as Pass Out narrowly holds onto its well-earned 100% record. I'm surprised we like it this much but no way am I complaining here, lyrics like 'I've been Southampton but I've never been to Scunthorpe' on a well-respected #1 hit make life worth living. Unlike many 2010 hits (most of which I love) it's not even that forgotten either. Success.

Right, onto the female soloists. Well, we have one of a couple of Nelly Furtado singles in the top 200 fall nearly out of it, it is a pretty good song but often overshadowed by her other hits for my own self (and I'm not even a huge fan!), a terrible new entry from Miley Cyrus (can't have everything can we, at least Wrecking Ball will be the highest placed Miley song) and a second new entry.

Breakaway saw its first time getting even as far as the yearly finals (at least it didn't 2011 or after, it did not make the top 200 before that but it could have qualified and not done very well, those stats weren't recorded), where it made a great impression smashing through both rounds it was in. It's pretty good like most of KC's stuff so I'm glad to see it in here and it therefore makes its parent album the only one I believe to have 4 songs inside the top 200. (The Fame and The Fame Monster are separate fyi, combined they'd have 5)

Sorry for the slow start to these results, they will go quicker after today I promise! I have just had a pretty busy day and insert excuses.

195 332 2007 The Killers - Read My Mind 184 43 4.279 (X - X - X - 171 - X - X - 195)
194 NE 2013 Le Youth - C O O L 240 56 4.286 (194)
193 140 2004 Michael Andrews feat. Gary Jules - Mad World 206 48 4.292 (195 - X - X - X - X - 91 - 151 - 140 - 193)
192 396 2007 Arctic Monkeys - Fluorescent Adolescent 185 43 4.302 (93 - X - X - 145 - X - X - 192)
191 117 2011 Demi Lovato - Skyscraper 198 46 4.304 (X - 117 - 191)

The first of our 2004 songs (i.e. those that won't get another chance in this game) in the top 200 falls - although this is already its second 'last chance' as Michael Andrews and Gary Jules were allowed into 2004 this time after previously being considered a 2003 song, due to their end-of-one-year-start-of-the-next release. This extra year turns out to be a poisoned chalice as 'Mad World' bows out for real on a low, #193 being the second lowest of its 5 top 200 finishes, only 2 positions higher than its previous low in the debut edition.

The Killers' 'Read My Mind' re-enters the top 200 at #195, its second finish on the long list. A couple of their other songs are of course rather more consistent in making the top 200. There's another indie top 200 re-entry at #192 for Arctic Monkeys, whose 'Fluorescent Adolescent' seems to take 2 years' break from the top 200 between each year it does make it (and it goes in lower each time it does). Le Youth's effortlessly cool 'C O O L' is a new entry at a fairly respectable #194.

The only faller in this section is that 'Skyscraper' thing I don't want to talk about.

190 313 2009 Ke$ha - Tik Tok 199 46 4.326 (X - X - X - X - 190)
189 270 2010 Marina & The Diamonds - Oh No 199 46 4.326 (X - X - X - 189)
188 139 2005 Gwen Stefani - Cool 204 47 4.340 (150 - 104 - 95 - 158 - X - X - 105 - 139 - 188)
187 257 2010 Cee Lo Green - f*** You 200 46 4.348 (92 - 191 - X - 187)
186 243 2006 Christina Aguilera - Hurt 187 43 4.349 (X - 200 - 186 - 66 - 65 - 195 - X - 186)

Two songs making it in for the first time in this section. The first Ke$ha's debut song Tik Tok which for some reason or other reaches its highest position in 2014 rather than straight after the fact in 2010. It's quotable (what big-ego hasn't said 'The party don't start till I walk in' at one time or another?) and memorable though and as the song which made Ke$ha notorious (especially in America, wow at its success there) it's instantly recognisable no matter where you were at the time.

The other is quite a bit more credible and was barely a hit. Barely scraping in the top 40 for one week in 2010, Marina's third single from The Family Jewels was possibly the best of the three (for me, anyway, they do fluctuate a lot but right now it is the best) and the little fanbase its sustained over the years has only strengthened this year if anything's to go by. At one point it was even looking like it might make it one stage further which would have been quite the coup.

Two 'oldies' from Cool and Hurt. Both have had mixed histories in this game, each with a couple of years out but most of the time in Buzzjack's affections rather than out. I've never been a huge fan of Gwen solo but Cool is cool (hurr hurr) with me. Hurt is very different and one of the (seem like many) Xtina ballads. I quite like it. It returns to the top 200 this year and has a couple more years to finally get in the final after narrowly missing out twice in a row. We'll see if it manages it.

Finally we have Cee Lo Green's most popular solo single. I think I wouldn't have called it to have 3 out of 4 years so far in given it seems like the sort of song the typical Buzzjack poster would hate merely through never-ending overplay. I never listen to it much these days and have managed to avoid it on commercial radio so I mainly just thought it had died a death.

185 166 2007 Mark Ronson feat. Amy Winehouse - Valerie 187 43 4.349 (113 - 196 - 196 - X - X - 166 - 185)
184 108 2007 Timbaland feat. Keri Hilson, Sebastian and D.O.E. - The Way I Are 187 43 4.349 (88 - 93 - 124 - 42 - X - 108 - 184)
183 173 2004 Shapeshifters - Lola's Theme 209 48 4.354 (X - X - X - X - X - 198 - X - 173 - 183)
182 106 2005 Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies) 205 47 4.362 (X - X - X - X - X - 72 - 19 - 106 - 182)
181 89 2008 Kings Of Leon - Use Somebody 192 44 4.364 (120 - 164 - X - 90 - 89 - 181)

There are no new or re-entries here or even any climbers - just 5 fallers. Kings Of Leon's second UK million seller 'Use Somebody' was surprisingly at its peak in this game last year but now tumbles from the top 90 to #181. BuzzIndie faves Arcade Fire hit an impressive peak of #19 with 'Rebellion (Lies)' - a song I still personally find to be overrated and nowhere near their best - but their support has been lesser in the last two years as it drops over 75 places for the second year in a row.

Also tumbling here from just outside the top 100 is Timbaland & co.'s 'The Way I Are'. There's a smaller fall for Mark Ronson & Amy Winehouse's version of 'Valerie' - a good example of a cover being far more well-known than the original, as time goes by I only forget more and more that The Zutons were the originals. Shapeshifters drop off a mere 10 places in their final year in the running with the dance anthem 'Lola's Theme'. It's been pretty unappreciated in this contest, not making the top 200 until 3 years ago, spending 3 of its last 4 years in the top 200 but never going higher than #173.

180 219 2009 AR Rahman & Pussycat Dolls - Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny) 201 46 4.370 (157 - X - X - X - 180)
179 269 2010 Edward Maya (feat. Vika Jigulina) - Stereo Love 201 46 4.370 (X - X - X - 179)
178 298 2005 Kaiser Chiefs - I Predict A Riot 206 47 4.383 (162 - X - X - 178 - X - X - X - X - 178)
177 179 2006 Killers - When You Were Young 190 43 4.419 (71 - 160 - 180 - X - 159 - 197 - 179 - 177)
176 294 2009 La Roux - In For The Kill 204 46 4.435 (X - 181 - 94 - X - 176)

A rather unusual curiosity here. I Predict A Riot, the anthem for foreshadowing urban misconduct everywhere, has been in the top 200 twice before several years ago, in the first and fourth installments. Its peak was achieved in the first runthrough, but, having not been up this far for 4 straight years, it reenters at exactly the same position it left us at. It's a fantastic mid-00s anthem so I'm glad to see it back.

Almost as much of an anthem is When You Were Young, one of The Killers' biggest singles and the second (and highest) from Sam's Town to make an appearance. It never used to be one of my favourite Killers songs but I've come to like it and appreciate lately, something which seems reflected in its chart run, as despite a #71 peak in the first year it's hung around pretty much this area ever since, with only one year out.

On the pop side we have In For The Kill starting a comeback after last year's pretty dreadful falloff, as one of their two big songs it can't really stand up to Bulletproof but it's pretty lovely in its own way. Then we have one song making the top 200 for the first time. I'm rather surprised it took Stereo Love this long, as a chilled dance track that few have bad things to say about and the apex of the brief Romanian invasion I'd expect it much higher year on year. Then I do love it rather a lot so I was probably just overestimating its popularity.

Jai Ho also gets in after narrowly missing it last year. Finally back after 3 years lower down, the reworking of AR Rahman's track with a popular girlband added on made it very popular around the globe and on Buzzjack. In the competitive year of 2009 it's no surprise it doesn't normally make it but it's done well this time, its energy is quite infectious and addictive.

I think loads of indie-orientated posters made up like 50% of the voters in the 2012 edition which accounts for high peaks of lots of alternative faves from there. I got nothing from it having first heard it that year and it took ages to grow on me but I started to love it recently, after Arcade Fire released a new album and I got on board. Typical nearly everyone else who likes it abandoned us this year. sad.gif

175 118 2010 Kylie Minogue - All The Lovers 204 46 4.435 (57 - 27 - 118 - 175)
174 NE 2013 Avicii - Wake Me Up 250 56 4.464 (174)
173 162 2006 All Saints - Rock Steady 192 43 4.465 (141 - 162 - 90 - 176 - X - X - 162 - 173)
172 346 2005 Pussycat Dolls - Stickwitu 211 47 4.489 (X - X - X - X - X - X - X - X - 172)
171 160 2009 Röyksopp feat. Robyn - The Girl And The Robot 207 46 4.500 (192 - 150 - 49 - 160 - 171)

Two songs in this section make the top 200 for the first time, one rather more surprisingly than the other. Avicii's 'Wake Me Up' is of course a new entry and makes its mark at number 174. I got bored of that song after about 5 weeks and it's still shown no signs of growing back on me since, not helped by the continuing overkill airplay, but enough of you still like it enough for it to be this high. The other newbie is a 2005 UK #1 from a popular-on-BuzzJack girlgroup, Pussycat Dolls' 'Stickwitu'. Despite having all the makings for a big RotD hitter (or maybe not, I'm gonna be honest I've never heard the song and for all I know it might actually be a good song which would put off the pop hoes ~) its appearance here at #172 is the first time it's ever made the longlist after 8 failures.

So it's taken that 2005 UK #1 this long to make the top 200 and yet a place ahead, in the top 200 for a 5th edition in a row (even getting a top 50 peak) is a song that never even bothered the UK top 100. 'The Girl And The Robot' by Röyksopp feat. Robyn is possibly best known on this website as a former winner of the BuzzJack Song Contest. I assume that's where it gets all its support from anyway because if not... why do so many of you people know and love this random flop? I suppose Robyn is pretty popular on here and all but still!

All Saints' 'Rock Steady' is relatively true to its title as it only has a small dropoff to #173. There's a bigger drop for Kylie's most recent and quite likely last big hit single 'All The Lovers' - a former top 30 in Record of the Decade, it has been bounding downwards in the two years since, much like Arcade Fire. I assume this is a coincidence as I don't see much room for crossover betweem Kylie fans and Arcade Fire fans.

170 171 2011 Nicole Scherzinger - Don't Hold Your Breath 207 46 4.500 (X - 171 - 170)
169 NE 2013 Foxes - Youth 252 56 4.500 (169)
168 119 2008 Estelle (feat. Kanye West) - American Boy 199 44 4.523 (X - 135 - 147 - 196 - 119 - 168)
167 142 2005 Stereophonics - Dakota 213 47 4.532 (35 - 157 - 97 - 129 - X - 107 - 102 - 142 - 167)
166 238 2012 Rihanna - Diamonds 233 51 4.569 (X - 166)

The song in this batch of 5 with the most decorated history is actually the only one sung by a rock band (everyone faint now). Fresh off the press by only a few months when this competition was first run, the Stereophonics' most well-known song Dakota acheived a very respectable 35th place; there was more support of that sort of thing in general back then. Since then it's had a rather mixed history but has only dived outside the top 200 once, but has also only gone back in the top 100 once more. It's a very cool song so I'm glad it's still managed to hold onto some relevance.

Just two places ahead of one former BJSC winner, we find another making a new entry. Albeit one of those that (eventually, nearly 2 years after the fact) became a hit and so has everyone clamouring to give it points rather than just a selection of loons. Youth launched Foxes to pretty much everyone and has made her a new mid-level pop star, I think it may have a good future here. It's not the only new entry to the top 200 either as after just missing out last time, Rihanna's wonderful lead single from (at time of writing, assuming a new campaign doesn't start in the next couple of hours or something) her latest album enters this time at #166. It didn't take long to become an instant RiRi classic with me and it's aging well, and it seems many of you think the same.

One other new peak gained, by inching up a total of one place. Don't Hold Your Breath was a pretty lovely single to get Nicole's first solo #1 and briefly made it look like she had a career. While even now Your Love is bounding further down the charts she's still in your hearts with this, (perhaps) her best (Poison would put up a strong fight but that's 102 places lower this time). Then finally there's Estelle's biggest hit which is fairly consistent in this part of the results but I have very little interesting to say about as it drops to its third-lowest position. It's one of Joseph's favourite songs, act shocked at that, there we go. We're over 4.5 - yay.

Pretty sure you'd HATE it (I'm surprised you irrationally don't already because of that awful looking title).

The Girl and The Robot is life itself. Also Robyn's best song for me. Should be doing what With Every Heartbeat does every year.

Typical nearly everyone else who likes it abandoned us this year. sad.gif

It wasn't quite that overwhelmingly indie, it's just one of those songs that seems to be loved by people that do like it. Looking back at the old spreadsheets (lord knows why I still have them!), it voted for by 14/48 voters, but 5 of those ranked it first, 2 more than any other song!

A shame to see it fall but it's one of those that will fall easily if a couple of fans don't vote.

Enjoying this so far. Great to see Royksopp & Robyn so high still, fully deserved.
