I asked for my account to be banned Joined: 26 September 2008 Posts: 14,631 User: 7,132	Deandria is currently preparing to potentially () return for another contest next time with a song she's been into for ages but for now, she would just like to ask this question. First of all, this is not specifically a thread intended for the depths of bitterness and despair if a potential of yours has been sent by someone else and won I do remember finding out that my winner 'Sanctuary' was a missed potential for Altyr Muunilinst oops... I've just been thinking about it because I have found that generally, when I have a potential and for some reason or other I just kinda leave it and it gets sent by someone else, it tends to do really well! Here are all the examples I can remember: BJSC 80: Caravan Palace - Lone Digger (2nd for Kluminican Republic) BJSC 91: Tearist - Headless (12th for Jadakissnia) BJSC 92: Paradis - Toi Et Moi (5th for Trifoski) [I was absent this contest but was slightly keeping an eye on things] BJSC 93: Eivør - Í Tokuni (5th for Land of DW) Japan vs South Korea spin-off: Kagura - Sui-Ren (winner for Land of DW) [I admit this was only a potential for a very brief time as I was looking for something for the spin-off] The current Beaverdonia entry was also a potensh of mine so it's going to do really well #psychicM.

Meg Myers - Sorry (should have signed up in early 2015 now oops) Sandra Lyng - Play My Drum (again before I joined and these two were the reason I finally joined lol :') ) 2016 Aelyn - Give Love A Try - Won for Pupok obviously... was my alternative potesh against Dive! Willa - Hey - - finished 2nd for Altyr No Wyld - Let Me Know finished 4th for Medhelnia MSTR Rogers - I'll Take You Hotel Garuda - Smoke Signals Nakita - Where Are You Catey Shaw - The Ransom (Tommy Walker Remix) 2017 2 of these I had down as potentials in 2016 mind you.. KREAM - taped up heart Oliver Moldan - High & Low VINAI - into the fire

It's actually relatively rare though that something pops up that I was strongly set on sending at some point. But of course many entries have appeared that I might have mulled over for a few seconds before passing on. It doesn't bother me at all when my potentials are sent though because it satisfies my curiosity as to how they would perform...sometimes I miss out on a big hit, sometimes I swerve a flop/DNQ so it's all relative.

I'll just stick around and do some more damage Joined: 14 February 2009 Posts: 115,034 User: 8,300	Doesn't happen tooooo often as my potentials are usually fairly obscure songs that I wouldn't expect anyone else to have come across let alone wanted to send but a few times I can remember / have reminded myself of by looking at my voting history: BYRTA - Andvekur (an inspired Faroese language song that went on to be a top 10 hit for Pavel, I literally flipped a coin to decide between sending this and Orphic Oxtra partially worth it) Christine And The Queens - Saint Claude (I love 'Christine'/'Tilted' as well but still think this is better, should have been her hit both in BJSC and IRL!!) Elizabeth Rose - The Good Life (a middling hit for Cadelicia, deserved better x) FRANKIE - New Obsession (yes really!!1 I came across this and thought it was really good for a pure pop song and thought I might send it just to shock everyone xx ended up being a middling UVland hit) George Maple - Vacant Space (a top 10 for Florina <3) Grace Mitchell - Jitter (had this in my list as a possible rare pop entry as well, did ok for FLJ) HAIM - Forever (obviously before they got big, and this DNQed although did pretty well in Rejects) Iiris - Tigerhead (Oslol's best entry!!1 I dodged a bullet with this I guess as it DNQed but God knows why...) Kacy Hill - Experience (I gave this one to Bal x Pretty middling hit) Marmozets - Play (I probably wasn't ever going to send this but I did have it on my list. Again DNQed but did very well in Rejects (winning this time)) Mz. 007 - Important (no comment) Ou Est Le Swimming Pool - Dance The Way I Feel (was going to send this as an archive~ entry but never got around to it, Medhelnia eventually did a couple of years later and came 2nd with it) Slow Magic - Girls (a flop in the end sadly, I wanted to send either this or 'Youth Group' but kinda knew they wouldn't do too well) Also Alien Alien - Sambaca was taken by someone in Unknown Pleasures (Cal I think?)

Whilst I kicked myself over the first two, the Jachq and Suedonia songs flopped , so I was glad they sent them instead. With Stanger and Higher, I was LITERALLY thinking about sending them for the months they were sent and smashed. Instead I sent two huge flops, as I thought they would do better Still, shows we can be right on point! Also, Peggy and Pat - the 2008 Slap Remix got sent by someone else :/ I switched to Mad Donna and that got top20, though, so not too bad

Both times I lost out to a big hit and instead DNQed the first instance was in BJSC 77 when me and Altyr Muunilinst both had our eye on Koven - 'Get This Right'. I was not able to confirm quickly due to a sad event in the family so I was beaten to it. Koven came 3rd (I had to wait 11 more contests for my first top 3 instead ) while I DNQed with Muhsinah's 'Luv W Luv', my worst entry then the second time it happened was when #00274E sent Delta Heavy's 'Ghost' in BJSC 80! I actually wasn't beaten to it, I was fully intending to send Stranger Cat that month and just had it as a potential purely because of the iconic video but then the song itself MASSIVELY grew on me in the contest and I was kicking myself as it went on to win, while 'Unzip Your Skin' DNQed, argh!! Some of my artists overlap a bit as well, for example I had Baby Blood and LUNA as potential artists before Persephonia sent them to the contest, but I don't think I ever would've got round to sending either so I'm pleased. Another one that comes to mind is Summericia with Prince Rama! A shame they DNQed.

🔥🚀🔥 Joined: 30 August 2010 Posts: 74,519 User: 11,746	I had 'Waves' by Perttu feat. Alexandra as a potential a few months before Greenfroze sent it. Finished in 30th which was higher than the 41st I had that contest but I don't regret passing on it. Biggest regret was giving 'Platinum Chains' to FSR Rontvia, I was so sure it would flop but it finished in 4th. Though it helped that Rich had the idea to make a radio edit. That's all I can think of at the moment, it doesn't happen often.
