Nadine Coyle: I do not miss Girls Aloud
Thursday 21 August 2014
Nadine Coyle has said she does not miss her former Girls Aloud band mates - but hopes newlywed Cheryl Cole is "really happy".

The singer said she is still "in denial" about the group coming to an end.

The LA-based star, who is in London to sing in Michael Flatley's new show Lord Of The Dance: Dangerous Games, also hit back at critics of her Derry accent.

Asked if Cheryl, Nicola, Kimberley and Sarah will be coming to watch her perform at the Palladium, she said: "I don't think so."

Coyle, 29, did not say she would be meeting up with the women during her time in the capital, and when asked if she misses them, she said: "No."

She added: "I spend time with loads of people. I think it's just because maybe you're so busy that you just kind of get totally wrapped up in your own life."

Cheryl married French restaurateur Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in a secret ceremony in July, but the couple were married for a week before it became public knowledge.

Asked about the marriage, Coyle said: "I sent her a wee message to say congratulations... I mean it was a whole whirlwind thing so she must have been just having a ball of a time."

She added: "So hopefully she's really happy."

Coyle, who has a baby girl called Anaiya with former American football player Jason Bell, reflected on her time in the band and said she "never wanted that to end".

She said: "I love... especially the Girls Aloud shows that we were able to do, so over the top, so huge... the songs that we had were so amazing so I thoroughly enjoyed all of the performances with Girls Aloud.

"I never wanted that to end... still don't. I am in denial."

The TV manufactured band came to an end after they reunited for a 12-date UK tour last year, after spending three years on solo projects.

Asked about her own wedding plans, Coyle remained coy. She said: "Wedding bliss for me? My sister's getting married so it's not all about me. It's all about my sister's wedding. And we're getting dresses and venues and caterers, so it's all about my sister now and then I'll think about getting married one of these days. Maybe."

Coyle, who has had her accent mocked in the past, said she does not get offended by it.

She said: "I can't decide which way I talk. I really, honestly can't. And it was funny, I was talking to an interviewer from Derry - there's so many of us around - and he said that when he came to London everybody thought he was American.

"I said 'I get that all the time. People think I'm from America'. When you're in Ireland you know it's a Derry accent. I was born and raised in Derry and I can't really change the way I talk."

She added: "My advice to people getting criticism over their accents would be tell people to mind their own business. Why are people working about their accents? Worry about your own accent. Never you worry about how other people talk."

Asked about motherhood, the singer said: "I find it great. I can't believe I didn't do it sooner. If it's not about Anaiya, it's not on my radar at the minute."

Nadine Coyle has spoken about her decision to release her debut solo album exclusively through Tesco.

The singer revealed she had no regrets about the choice, after Insatiable peaked at number 47 in the UK Offical Album Chart.

Speaking to Attitude, Coyle said: "We only released it in one shop. We didn't have any digital downloads, or iTunes, except for Tesco. That was the deal that we had done, to try something new.

"So no, I don't have any regrets whatsoever."

The founding member of Girls Aloud did however admit that she wishes she had done more promotion for the album.

"I was going to do a second single, 'Running', and I really should have, so sometimes I think I should have just stuck it out and done that," she recalled.

"But I went back to LA and rested and got myself together."

Coyle also spoke about working on her new solo record with Girls Aloud producer Brian Higgins, saying: "We have some great songs; really good songs that you could literally put out next week, and they would be great."

The new issue of Attitude hits shops on Wednesday (September 17).

I thought Put Your Hands Up was meant to be Single #2.

Posted by: AdamAloud 17th September 2014, 08:02 AM

Even in 2010, the amount of music supermarkets were selling/stocking was in decline so I'm struggling to see why she went down that route, unless of course they were the only ones willing to give her a chance?

Anyway, this is how I would've handled the singles from 'Insatiable, assuming she had a 'normal' record deal release strategy':

1. Put Your Hands Up (really the only sensible choice of lead)
2. Runnin'
---album release---
3. Red Light
(4. Insatiable - As much as I love it, it's definitely not a 'lead single for a solo career' type of song in the way 'Fight For This Love' was).

Nadine on Good Morninf Britain.

Totes awkward when she's asked about the girls and Cheryl.

Posted by: Noahspike 18th September 2014, 01:32 PM

I thought she handled it pretty well actually. 'Ohhh, ah mean wha-ca wha-ca- THERE WE ARE IN GERLS- oh sarry...ummm' laugh.gif

Must be so annoying to be asked it in every interview though.

Posted by: mr_aly 18th September 2014, 01:40 PM

I'm pretty sure 'Put Your Hands Up' was intended for single two as well. 'Insatiable' was the strongest track on the album, but sadly nothing would have done very well for her anyway as she got zero support.

I adore 'Runnin' wub.gif Her vocals on it are top notch.

Posted by: -Jay- 18th September 2014, 02:51 PM

I think there's stronger songs on there! But I do kind of understand their logic thinking that 'Insatiable' sounded like a first single.

Living in Los Angeles for the past 10 years, 3,500 miles away from her bandmates, Nadine Coyle was often seen as the Girl Alone.
Unfairly blamed for the break-up of one of Britain’s most successful female groups, in reality she was the only one in Girls Aloud desperate for them to stay together.
But a year on from the band’s split, the singer now wants to set the record straight once and for all about what really went on behind dressing room doors.
Contrary to popular opinion, it was Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh who decided to call time on the group.

Informing Nadine of their decision just minutes before they were all due on stage, she refused to sign a contract formalising their separation – and has not put pen to paper to this day.
She says: “I didn’t want the band to end, it was as simple as that.
“I didn’t think we were going to end – we had done all the promo saying we were all together, having a great tour, wearing Victoria’s Secret wings and stomping up and down the catwalk every night, loving every single minute of it.
“And then, on the very last night of the tour, our management and publicist came up to me and said the girls wanted to split up the band. I was thinking, ‘What?!’
“I was in hair and make-up, about to get into my costume, and the show was starting in 20 minutes. I was shocked.

“I went back to my make-up lady and told her, and was like, ‘F***! I don’t have a job! What am I going to do?’ I screamed and cried on stage and off stage.
“I was really dramatic for about 15 minutes and then I was over it again.
"But after that I was fine. I refused to even be sad about it. It is what it is. I couldn’t kick and scream, and change their minds – but had it been me, I would have done it differently. Not just before you go out on stage…
“And then I went back to LA and got pregnant, so wasn’t around for what happened next. But I heard that they were saying that I knew the band wanted to split. No, no, no! I didn’t!
“They’re going to have to get their stories straight because my one has been solid. The truth remains pretty solid.”

In her recent autobiography, bandmate Kimberley mentioned Nadine’s reluctance about the split, admitting the Northern Irish performer refused “point blank” to sign any press release.
In fact, Nadine, 29, reveals she would not sign any of the formal paperwork confirming the group’s demise.
She adds: “Thank God somebody told the truth because I never wanted the band to split up, and afterwards they were like, ‘Well, she knew’. I didn’t. I didn’t feel it was the right thing to do. I didn’t want to put my name to anything to do with it.
“So I said, ‘If you want to write this thing from these four, write it from these four – but I’m taking no part in it’.
“I never signed it, so technically I’m still in Girls Aloud. I’m a one man band! I need holograms made up of them so I can go back out on stage in 30 years’ time…”
Insisting she still remains clueless as to the reasons behind the decision to call time on the band – which racked up four UK No1s and won a Brit – it is clear there is little love lost between them.
Indeed, she was as surprised as the rest of us after Cheryl announced her recent marriage to Frenchman Jean-Bernard. But she is even more surprised that fans expected her to be at the bash.

Smiling, she says: “I don’t know why people are shocked I wasn’t at the wedding. I mean, were you at Cheryl’s wedding?”
When I reply that I, too, was NFI (not flipping invited), she quips: “I’m shocked!” But she insists: “I have nothing against Cheryl or the girls.” Nadine may have lived Stateside for the last decade, but her Northern Irish accent is as strong as ever.
She has lost none of her British humour and seems surprisingly unaffected.
Nadine, who had daughter Anaiya in January, is in the UK at the moment, singing alongside Michael Flatley in his Lord of The Dance: Dangerous Games tour. And it is a job she is relishing.
She says: “Growing up, this is what I imagined it would be like to be a singer.”
Currently performing at London’s Palladium, next year she will tour with the show across Europe and America.

The star is also “in talks” with a fashion house about the possibility of bringing out her own line, she has invested in a successful skin cream firm and her restaurant, Nadine’s Irish Mist, is doing a roaring trade in Sunset Beach, California.
And, everywhere Nadine goes, so does baby Anaiya. The father is former American football star Jason Bell. He and Nadine, who got engaged four years ago, briefly split not long after the proposal, with the singer calling it off to “find herself”.
But it did not last long, and the couple have been living together in LA ever since. Together, that is, when they are not fighting.
Taking things one step further than husband and wife Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter, who reportedly live in neighbouring houses, Nadine and Jason occasionally live in separate states.
Chatting over what appears to be a pint of coffee, she explains: “It’s hard being with a man, it really is.
“They just don’t ‘get’ you all the time. It’s especially hard after you’ve had a baby – sometimes you’re like, ‘I feel like I might hate you right now…’ I send him into the other room if we’re not getting on… or another house. I’m like: ‘I can’t look at you, go to the other house!’
“We’re lucky, we have a place in LA and New York so we can get breathing space from one another.
“So any time we need it, one of us will go to the other place – another state – or even another country. It’s healthy.”

Of their biggest row to date, Nadine adds: “He wasn’t impressed when I decided I didn’t want to be engaged any more, and took myself off to live in New York alone.
"We sort of split up, but not really. I was 25, engaged, and living in this beautiful house – it was all too much, all too good to be true.
“I felt like I needed to do a bit of suffering. So I went to New York and lived in this awful apartment. It was like something out of a movie – it was like a crack den, in the East Village.
“I thought I would try and find myself, but I was so scared the whole time. I lasted there a week. I ended up staying at the Hamptons. That was more like it.”
And while Nadine likes her luxuries, she also insists on nothing but the best for her little one.

She says: “I blend up all her own food. Yesterday, she had avocado and banana for lunch. For dinner I made her sweet potato, carrots, kale and broccoli.
“This is probably the ‘most LA’ thing I’ve ever done but her hair is so shiny, her eyes are so shiny. I think this is the secret to everything.”
Happy, healthy and honest – Nadine Coyle is a Girl Alone no more.

I feel bad for Nadine (in reply to that article of August 21). She was obviously by far the most talented girl of the group and if one of the girls was gonna make it outside of the group it should've been her. I guess it could've been her if she wanted to but she wanted GA and not a solo career...

GA could've been so huge after 'Out of Control'. Oh well.. no use in thinking about what could've been I guess.

'Insatiable' impact 4 years on! *.* I wonder why now?

Insatiable wasn't always on iTunes? I bought it off their ages ago. Or is this the album?

Posted by: AdamAloud 27th October 2014, 02:01 PM

Yeah it's the iconic album of our generation *.*

Posted by: sajjadali 28th October 2014, 08:08 PM

Clearly, Tesco held the digital rights for four years as per the oriignal deal surely or either that as Tesco know their is no real monetary value in the album they've given her permission to put it up on Spotify and iTunes despite their original exclusivity agreement.

I find it sad reading about how it all end. How stupid though...who could have predicted that they would have fell out whether to split or not but really a lack of communication for a bad that seemingly got on great. It's sad to end a ten year career like that. I don't know who to believe to be honest... What is even sadder is Nicola unfollowing Nadine on twitter that to be honest shows how bad things are. I can't believe she didn't even say goodbye to them. Not only that but to boast about in an interview is quite malicious.

I mean come on Nadine how could not have known? They were crying every night! How could you 6 months without even discussing it with each other? I thought they were the exception but obviously not.

I am actually fed up even trying to make myself all is well when its so obviously not and this stupid petty girls despite a chance to end on a high and as friends with the reunion did the same thing again.

Am i the only one that thinks Nadine would totally rock Shake It Off? I wish Xenomenia do a song like that for her.

Posted by: andibob 11th November 2014, 10:35 PM

We all know Nicola is well jel Nadine was the voice. Just read Dreams That Glitter!

Anyway, Nadine is so giff-able it doesn't matter who disses. We always got a comeback.

Nadine Coyle has spoken of her pride at being part of Girls Aloud, insisting that she has no hard feelings about her time in the group.

The singer told The Sunday Express that she loved the time she spent with the pop act.

"I look back at the band fondly now," she said, "not like, 'Oh, I wanna get over that!'"

Coyle also chose not to comment on recent reports that Cheryl Fernandez-Versini branded her "full of s**t" for saying that she had no responsibility for the group's second split in 2013.

Instead, she said that she was "so proud to be part of Girls Aloud" and would "never say never" to the possibility of another reunion in the future.

Coyle is now starring as Erin the Goddess in Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games show, and is about to embark on the world tour of the production.

"Oh my god, there's so many dates, tonnes and tonnes!" she said. "We're going everywhere - North America, South America, Australia."

The singer, who is married to American footballer Jason Bell, also revealed that she is planning to release more solo music, following her 2010 album Insatiable.

"There's definitely a second album coming next year," she said. "I'm just taking time until we get the best album possible."

Coyle recently said that she has no regrets about releasing her debut album through Tesco.

Kimberley would have aired the dirty laundry. Probably needs the money

Posted by: sajjadali 24th November 2014, 11:20 AM

Kimberley has always spoken quite well of Nadine until her book where she spoke a lot more truthfully.

I can't see Kimberley ever saying anything like what Cheryl said.

I can't see her following suit Cheryl and Nicola and unfollowing Nadine on twitter. I know its only twitter, but you have to go to her account and click Unfollow! It takes some effort doing so you must be riled if you go to her page to do it for example. I'm glad Cheryl's album is flopping could stand to be taken down a peg or two after what she said about Nadine so care freely in attitude without a thought when she was getting her 2nd no.1 single this year and breaking that record.

The thing is it's sad it ended like that. I mean they all had a chance with this reunion to let all the old stuff go and end it on a high properly as friends. They did make amends and then something must have happened on tour mid-way. At the start of the tour they were all hugging etc but by the end of the tour Cheryl, Kimberley and Nicola wouldn't even make eye contact with Nadine. It's kind of insane. Then the split drama. Has any band ever fell out over something stupid like that.

Why weren't management more competent and informed Nadine of the decision a week or two ago or held a big 'What happens next' meeting. Despite what Kimerberley and Cheryl like to imply i don't think there was an intention to split afterwards at the start. But when Beautiful flopped i think it became clear that any future music not backed by CIN would under perform too so thats when they made the decision. They wanted to keep it open incase things went REALLY well so they could continue cash in, things went well just not Take that well. Maybe those three just made the decision and let Sarah know. Probably told one of management to tell Nadine and then no one did!? Meeting or no meeting four people were happy for the band to split even if Sarah didn't want to the decision was the same the majority wanted it to end. I think not wanting to work with Nadine any more was part of the decision and lets just come here Cheryl knows its in her best interest to be a solo artist right now!

Do you think Cheryl and co could have tried to get back at Nadine for what she did to them i.e hire a band manger without telling them, hold them to ransom to secure a solo deal etc. Could have been a sneaky 'Tweedy' type thing to do.

They publicly kept saying 'we'll see after the tour' which might have lead Nadine on bit. I don't think Nadine and the others were even talking backstage near the end of the tour. She probably just kept herself to herself and went home and came to the next one. So everyone's to blame bit. They make me quite angry really, it is us the fans that gave them their success and i really all the way believed if any band would end as 'friends' and on a 'high' unlike other bands it was them but they became stupid and did exactly that. No communication what do you expect.

Kimberley, Cheryl and Nicola's friendship is to blame bit. It's nice etc. but they have become like a gang. I mean why has Nadine fallen out with all 3 of them!? Why is not just one for example. Those 3 stick together.

At least all is good between Sarah and Nadine as we know she visited Nadine with her baby w00t.gif

Even now Nadine could invited all the girls round or something, or visited Kimberley or something but these people are so s**t and up themselves there's no doing anything.

Posted by: Carlos V 24th November 2014, 01:48 PM

lol at your theories.

But not sure about them when Nadine can't even be bothered to tweet a Happy Birthday to Sarah when she does it all on twitter so fans see how much 'she misses GA' (as if!). Shame she didn't miss anyone during the Insatiable campaign when she acted like a total bitch.

She actually blocked me on twitter during the Sweetest High era when I dare to ask her about a Girls Aloud coming back and the three album contract rotf.gif

That's how much she wanted the reunion... That even asking about Girls Aloud coming back with respect she blocked me. That was my first and last question to her because I'm still blocked, like half of the fanbase.

Posted by: Joe. 24th November 2014, 03:06 PM

I'm sure Nadine has Sarah's mobile number. Twitter isn't the only way of communication.

Posted by: JosephStyles 24th November 2014, 03:44 PM

Yeah Sarah's the only one to have actually spoken to Nadine since the split (Twitter aside) I think, I remember Sarah saying she'd spoken to her a few months ago and was planning to go and visit her!

Posted by: -Jay- 24th November 2014, 03:50 PM

And this is why Sarah is the best! *.* She seems impartial and doesn't take sides, it's the best way to be. I hope the rift between Nadine & Cheryl/Nicola/Kimberley will heal one day. Anything is possible with time.

Posted by: JosephStyles 24th November 2014, 03:55 PM

A reunion is definitely possible one day for the reason Jay stated - time is the greatest healer!

Sarah's being very admirable in this situation, she's keeping herself to herself and not being dragged into anything, hats off to her wub.gif

We all know why they would reunite again...

Posted by: Only Human 25th November 2014, 10:25 AM

I don't see why Cheryl wouldn't comment back when Nadine has basically blamed the whole split on the three girls (Cheryl, Nicola & Kim).
It was clear Nadine wanted to go solo & when that didn't work out she was suddenly straight up for a reunion.

Posted by: Joe. 25th November 2014, 09:17 PM

Cheryl unfollwoing Nadine on Twitter is really saddening. why can't they all pretend to be friends?

Posted by: sajjadali 30th November 2014, 03:39 PM

Also it's really petty and stupid, does it really cost her anything to keep following her for FFS.
It's not like she's inviting her to her house or something she follows thousands of fans she wouldn't even notice the tweets.
It's her way of sending a clear message. It doesn't achieve anything though
Pretty sad really considering Nadine has recently said some nice things about Cheryl and even tweeted her and Kimberley congrats on her baby and marriage.

I like how Nadine has followed tradition of what Kim and Cheryl did to Nadine when she got engaged and didn't contact her and done the same to kimberley...

^not airing your dirty laundry in public is classy. What's the point of publicly dragging people? it's none of our business who's a bitch and who's full of shit really.

But Nadine did air it in public. Cheryl may have used more visceral language but Nadine is the one who said she was kicked out of the band by a gang of backstabbing bitches. There was no need to do that in public either and to blame Cheryl for not being "classy" when all she was doing was retaliating to someone [publicly] attacking not only her character but that of the rest of the band is really strange. Maybe what Cheryl did wasn't terribly classy but Nadine was arguably worse - what she said was unprovoked.

It's sad to see the forum so split in Cheryl vs Nadine fans. It shouldn't be "no, [NAME] is the one who's a bitch!". They're as bad as each other in terms of what they've recently said.

Nadine brought this on her self it started mainly when she moved to the US at first it was like " i will only do girls aloud stuff if it is singing if it is not i will not turn up" , to us fans it really did seem like she didn't want to be in the group most of the time, she would rather be in the US.

then she started to not turn up to birthdays , events ect that was important to the other girls (even when she was in London during those events she didn't turn up) . she was never there for the girls after she moved , she just didn't want to know. I am not suprised she is being unfollowed why follow someone that doesn't want to keep in touch. it seems to me that because Nadine has had such bad press of late and a flop solo that she said these things just to save face. Kimberley and Nadine use to be best friends and i don't think Kimberley wrote the stuff she did for nothing, what would she have to gain?. Nadine changed so much because of her big ego " i am the singer of the band".

The has been times when i have not been a fan of Cheryl , but at least with Cheryl she turns up to her work mates events and makes the effort , she really showed how much she loved the group and so did Kimberley, Nicola and Sarah, i never saw that in Nadine for a few of Girls aloud years. They always said if someone didn't want to be in the group anymore they would split up, Nadine was never there so the others probley felt like it was the end for them.

i meet them at the eye lash signing ( kimberley and Cheryl was the most talkative) sadly Sarah and Nicola never spoke ( but Nicola was very chatty at her make up signing) . Nadine seemed very short with me for some odd reason (we never had a fight or nothing and i had never said anythink bad to her i wouldn't do that ) " hi , how are you " i am good thanks as soon as i said thanks she said straight away ooo okay in a tone and that was it, she never spoke again during the signing , i am not sure what went wrong there to be honest .

I follow 4 out of the 5 members of girls aloud, Nadine is the only one i don't follow

Posted by: Jayeux Noël 1st December 2014, 04:03 AM

There's two sides to every story. Perhaps the little clique that formed within GA weren't very friendly to Nadine and started to isolate her, making her feel like moving to LA and exploring a solo career would be healthy options for her (this is me speculating, I'm not saying this is definitely how things went down). We just don't know what may have made Nadine start to feel distant towards the other girls. They went from being her close friends (very apparent in the early years) to being her "work colleagues", so something must have gone down on their side to make Nadine feel cool towards them, and evidently vice versa.

Nadine dedicated 7 years to Girls Aloud before she seemingly pushed for the hiatus. 5 albums, 21 singles, and 5 tours where she never missed a single date. Despite living half way around the world she never missed anything truly important, bar the 2008 Brits (which admittedly was a bit dodgy looking, but they didn't win anything anyway so it didn't amount to much more than a red carpet and a night out for them) or if she was ill. In the grand scheme of things she missed very little. She expressed after 'Off The Record' that she had no further interest in appearing in the reality shows, and at the end of the day that's her decision to not get a pay check away from the music side of things. The way people/the girls speak of Nadine, it's as if she jumped shipped within 2 years or something (hi Geri Halliwell). Nadine turned down record deals in the early days to stay loyal to the group. As a vocalist she really held them together, let's be honest, and I'm not sure whether the other girls have much respect for that. Would they have been as successful without Nadine, initially?

It's all very well for Nadine to be dragged like this, but Nadine has never said anything personal about any of them as individuals. Nadine was annoyed about a situation and felt like she was left out of a decision, but she hasn't said "so and so is full of shit, she's a liar".

Sorry to sound biased, I do stress that there must be two sides to every story and maybe both sides acted badly, but it annoys me when Nadine is the one that people tend to throw under the bus. She deserves some more respect, when you look back at Girls Aloud's whole career.

As a slight aside, I think the way Cheryl was with Mel B on the X Factor & Xtra Factor tonight is perhaps a telling glimpse at what Cheryl might be like with people who don't fall in line with what she wants. They went from high 5-ing at the start of the show to Cheryl making a very barbed & passive aggressive comment at Mel B just because Mel didn't choose to save her act.

I'm sorry that your meeting with Nadine didn't go well by the way. sad.gif

Strangely when I met Girls Aloud at their 2008 book signing, Nadine was the only one who was friendly and gave me the time of day. Nicola said nothing to me at all, she looked vacantly at me, signed the book and shoved it to her left. Cheryl & Sarah were talking to their security man and pretty much ignored me, save for signing my book (although Sarah did say sorry). Kimberley chatted to my friend behind me in the line while signing my book(!) and didn't acknowledge me at all. Then there was Nadine, who was the first to even say hello, and asked me how I was. By the time I got to Nadine I was feeling really deflated and disappointed, so I probably didn't sound convincing when I said I was great and felt happy to meet them! Still, I didn't hold it against the other 4. Well, after I got over it anyway. kink.gif It was a really quick meeting and the purpose was to sign the book really. I was a bit sad about it for a few days, but eventually I just accepted it for what it was. Although if Nadine hadn't have been nice to me I'd have been completely crushed to be honest, lol.

Posted by: JosephCarey 1st December 2014, 08:14 AM

Gosh that sounds awful, both of you, I'd feel very deflated if I met my faves and got pretty much blanked!

I do think there are two sides to every story and both Nadine and Cheryl will have done things to upset each other, I think you both raise valid points and neither side is wrong exactly. I would love to hear Sarah's take on things as she's the only one who's impartial it would seem, but equally I'm enjoying how she's not saying a word on it, she evidently knows it's not worth sharing as it went on behind closed doors.

Dan Wooton interview here. He is going for a sensational story, she didn't say anything new out-with what she has said in the past. I also appreciated her saying she would work with them again and clarifying that she was never the victim. She comes across fine in the whole thing I think.

Love them playing "bin, shuffle and repeat" with Girls Aloud tracks. She picked exactly the same one's I would pick to. Yes Nadine, best taste. Love her reaction to 'See The Day' "bin it immediately" laugh.gif

Posted by: Jay ☆ 9th September 2017, 04:28 AM

I keep intending to listen to the full interview, but I've not found a moment yet! I've read some of the quotes though.

I can't say any of it surprises me, sadly. I can easily picture some of the other girls becomingly increasingly bitter over Nadine having a lot of vocals (although I have to say, I'm not sure Cheryl would have had much right to complain... she is quite a presence on most of the singles).

I don't think Kimberley's book mentions vocal share as one of the reasons for their acrimony (it's been a while since I read it), but I think she referenced Nadine living in LA as being a problem. Perhaps the combination of Nadine singing the most, while appearing to be the least committed to the group (from their perspective) rubbed them up the wrong way.

It is all quite sad though, and it's a pity in the years since the split that they've been unable to let bygones be bygones. It all seems petty... boiling down to personality clashes. Just seems like a great shame that they couldn't cherish what they had together as a five, after all those years. It seems from what Nadine says that she really would have liked that to be the case. sad.gif

I've always been more inclined to take Nadine's side in all of this. Even if she was difficult behind the scenes... she's at least always been publicly respectful of the other girls, never bad-mouthing them. Whereas Kimberley used a book deal to lambaste her, while Cheryl told a magazine that Nadine was "full of shit". Which I think says more about them really, than however bad Nadine supposedly was.

In April, she was forced to pull out of the proposed dates and admits there were some budgeting issues. “I really shouldn’t have put it on in the first place,” she says. “There were only seven shows, and I’d come from a place where I wanted there to be screens and costume changes. My idea of the show, it just didn’t make any sense.”

Full interview here: https://inews.co.uk/culture/nadine-coyle-interview-girls-aloud-reunion-cheryl-feud-pin-cushion/ but it's mostly the same old stuff about her not seeing the girls for years and her regarding them as having been work colleagues.

Nadine does say that her having the most lines in the songs lead the other girls to dislike her, Brian Higgins and the record label because of that. Not sure if she's gone as far as to say that in previous interviews?

Posted by: pippa 27th July 2018, 03:06 PM

The more Nadine speaks out, it feels any chance of re-union gets further and further away.
It does appear, Nadine did not have much of a relationship with the girls with the exception of Sarah.
I did think Nadine would at the least manage one successful single but it will never happen now.

It has been reported that Coyle branded the girls “jealous” of her profile within the band. “I didn’t say that, how pompous and arrogant would I have to be to say that? But yes, a thing that did cause stress in the band was the fact that I was given more lines and the girls didn’t like Brian [Higgins, Girls Aloud collaborator and the mastermind behind pop production team Xenomania]as a result of it. “They didn’t like the label as a result of it, and they didn’t like me as a result of it. So it was just circumstances which were out of my control: I didn’t decide who sang what. But,” she stops herself. “I love my life and I just get on with it.”

I'm a major Nadine fan but....the girls didn't like you because at times you could be disrespectful and not a team player.
-She changed after she went to LA, she refused to do Out Of Control if she didn't get a solo deal as advise by her solo manager - held them at 'ransom' not to mention hiring a solo manager in the first place and then brought him along to the tour!
-Refused to do Passions or Ghosthunting (not a team player)
-Didn't attend the Brits 2008 because it wasn't 'her thing' but has attended since!
-Lateness apparently....and it was getting worse and worse until they said something!
-The split night drama and the tweet and the interviews again and again recalling the same stuff again and again to promote her new music.

Nothing to do with singing the lines....I'm sure the girls understood it wasn't her choice. They all were given ample opportunities to shine I think but Nadine did feature more on the singles which made sense.

Just seeing the list above about why Nadine wasn't as 'involved' with the girls once she moved to LA, and given that she has moved back to the UK since and had a family of her own...all those reasons why she didn't do this or that, annoying/baffling though they were to some at the time, seem trivial now.

I speak as someone who thought All Saints would never get back together, and things were far more frosty between those four when they broke up in 2001. They were literally not speaking to each other at the end, and Natalie and Shaznay had a full on row over a jacket, and then Natalie and Nicole bought out their book telling all about how much of a rough ride they got.

And yet they've been back together twice in the last 15 years, and released three more albums in that time. If that's not a mark of time being a healer/forgiveness than it gives me confidence to think that in a few years from now GA will all be in a place where they can leave all the old crap in the past and be a band again.

Been listening to few Insatiable tracks recently. Red Light has aged really well for me, should’ve been a single!

Posted by: sajjadali 22nd March 2019, 08:02 PM

I don't think the vocals were the problem at all. I'm sure everyone wanted more vocals but that wasn't the root cause of issues as she was given the most lines on singles from day one, and they shared pretty well otherwise on album tracks. It was the lack of communication, distance and respect that caused the issues we saw from OOC onwards.

Once Nadine went to America, it is well known she tried to on advice of her manager presumably negotiate a solo deal and she said she wouldn't do another GA album unless she got one...hence holding them to ransom. In addition, she did become a lot more difficult to work with by not turning unto Brits, refusing do Passions or Ghosthunting etc. Then she hired a solo manager and brought him on the OOC tour...so it's no surprise that people were slowly getting ticked off with her. Even with the reunion, whilst they mended things the divide between them all was obvious and no one really forgave each other for the past issues, then she made up the whole unnecessary 'split' drama, there was no communication with each other anymore and hence we have what we have.

I really thought they were better than all this but obviously not. But then again on the other side, how Chimola even managed to fall out with Sarah to me suggests that they aren't all guilt-free in all this. In additional how Nadine is now saying they were 'never' friends is a complete lie, her and Kimberley were very 'friendly' in the early days and lived together for a few years and we have proof of that.

We can't have any reunion unless they sort out their issues and become 'friends' again who have respect for each other not just doing it for the £, solo success has dried up for all of them pretty much. Even Cheryl's last single struggled little, Nicola hasn't done much in years neither has Sarah, Kimberley just does the odd bit now and whilst Cheryl's The Greatest Dancer was good for her even her peak fame has gone done a lot. I can't buy into them until I believe their friendship, it's like watching Friends who hate each other, I need that chemistry....

They need to do a steps and mend the friendships and genuinely move forward as friends and I'm sure it's possible. Gary Barlow and robbie William's had huge differences and sorted it out and look at them now, so there is hope.

Posted by: JosephStyles 7th April 2021, 12:03 PM

I did, she was fabulous heart.gif I love how she served us with a "floyurr" within the first 10 mins laugh.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 7th April 2021, 03:56 PM

Ya i saw it, and the floyurr will always follow her everywhere, it was a little emotional to as you could tell it was Sarah she was referring to when asked about cancer.

Posted by: pippa 10th April 2021, 08:51 PM

Her accent provides us with strange sounding words.

she was really fun on drag race tonight! Also great performance on that singing show (thought the other girl ruined it by over singing it... so annoying just sing the bloody song). Nadine has such a beautiful tone to her voice.

Not the headlines she had hoped for sad.gif

Pretty bold choice of song to cover though!

Posted by: tommie 1st November 2022, 11:03 PM

I wonder why she didn't do Dreams or Linger, which seems more suited to her. I guess Zombie is more of a statement song due to it being about the conflicts going on at the time, but I can't imagine her delivering a good version of it.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 2nd November 2022, 01:11 AM

Dreams or linger would def have suited her better.

Posted by: Scary Spiceboy 2nd November 2022, 08:48 AM

Some of the headlines on that page... wow desperately grabbing. "Shock horror as Brook turns down Nadine Coyle Carpool offer" wtf lol

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 12th November 2022, 04:47 PM

I'd say most of it was out of context and mostly over exaggerated.

It's crazy to think she's only a couple of years older than me, considering how long ago Girls Aloud were active!

Nadine is turning on the Christmas lights in Beverley, near where I live!

Nadine might be releasing an autobiography!

She said this to The Sun: “I haven’t done a book yet but we are in discussions. You have to be really open, it is a big undertaking and you have to be prepared.”

I can't see her dishing the dirt about the feud with Chimola now that they are all on good terms. thinking.gif

Posted by: Not yet... 12th November 2023, 03:45 PM

They always seemed like massive friend sin the videos and performances, but then in the interviews, Sarah and Cheryl would hold back, whilst the other three would throw shade etc. You can see the clrear divides if you look back on the interviews now.

Posted by: -Jay- 12th November 2023, 05:23 PM

Did you mean Sarah and Nadine? Cheryl was the most outspoken one!

Went to the light switch on but the power went off before Nadine came on and throughout her set! cry.gif She did manage to sing Sound of the Underground, Go to Work and… Santa Claus is Coming to Town (laugh.gif) and she was fantastic. She looks bloody gorgeous too!

Edit: oh she also did Biology!

Thank you Jay! Managed to get a glimpse of her after the show when she went out back to meet fans but didn’t get chance to say hello or get a photo, there was quite a few fans pestering and pushing in front but I didn’t want to be one of them people. It was a great shame about the technical difficulties because I wonder what other songs she might have performed, but she was the ultimate professional and the songs I did hear were fantastic.

I love Nadine

Posted by: Padamic Tension 1st April 2024, 04:42 PM

Such a real story for Nadine to share.I often find its random events that come into my mind when i think of family members and friends that i have lost, it can often be just some small triggers or flashbacks that stand out the most and have such a nice way of helping to remember someone. Im not someone who finds anniversaries or visiting their place of rest the most triggering its day to day things that at the time seemed insignificant that now are the most stand out things when remembering someone.
