Mansun's second album is 17 year's old today. Digital Spy declare it as the best Brit Pop album you've never heard. http://beta.digitalspy.co.uk/music/feature...ou-never-heard/ Influencing Mars Volta and Muse (to a lesser extent), this is undoubtedly a difficult and awkward album but one that pays dividends with repeated plays. A striking run of singles that, along with Placebo, made 1998 exciting in the midst of Embrace and, dare I say, Manic Street Preachers MOR stodge. I just spoke directly to Paul Draper on Facebook - he's a FB friend of mine, dontcha know - and he says that it will be re-issued on double CD/DVD and vinyl in due course. Any takers? It could well be the best album I've never heard.
I really should correct that. |

Mansun were hugely under-rated at the time, I never understood why they didn't hit it big, great run of singles never mind the albums...

I remember listening to this for the first time and thinking what the hell was that?
Then I listened again. And again. Top notch album from a top notch band. |

I made my house mate listen to some of it last night. She hadn't a clue what what happening most of the time. I had perhaps mislead her by saying that I think it's better than any Radiohead album.
Six didn't click with me until 2001. At that stage I knew it was heading for my favourite album of all time - since then it has slipped a few places behind Dog Man Star and The Holy Bible. This post has been edited by AntoineTTe: Sep 8 2015, 10:50 PM |
